Oscars 2025: Conclave writer scores first British win of the night in Adapted Screenplay category
British writer Peter Straughan scooped the UK's first Oscar win of the night on Sunday as he won in the Best Adapated Screenplay category. The award was for Conclave, with Peter adapting the 2016 novel by Robert Harris. The writer, 56, has also won the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Critics Choice award in this category after previously being nominated for an Oscar for his 2011 adaptation of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
