Euphoriahas been unleashingall kinds of horrorson Elordi's Nate Jacobs in its third season, and his suffering finally reached its peak in the penultimate episode.
The high school psychopath turned real estate failure was forced to face the music in Sunday's episode, when he was stuffed in a coffin and buried alive. To make matters worse, his desperate hollering attracted the attention of a rattlesnake, which ultimately bit andkilled himbefore Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) could come to his rescue.
In a featurette that HBO aired after the episode, Elordi unpacked what it was like to film the scene involving a real (but thankfully not poisonous) snake.
"I had to go into this coffin. My shoulders were touching the side, and I couldn't move my arms, and then they would drill the lid on, and it would get dark," Elordi said of the claustrophobic sequence. "It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there."
More importantly, Elordi thought it marked a fitting end for his controversial character, the former golden boy with a cruel, manipulative streak.
"Tucked in this box, with dust falling on me, and a snake coming down the pipe… It's a cool way to go," Elordi said. "Nate is someone who's made so many mistakes and made so many dark choices. It's cool to see it all come to what it's come to."
Elsewhere in the behind-the-scenes segment, series creatorSam Levinsonpraised Elordi for being game when it came to the specifics of the coffin sequence.
"An enormous amount of credit to Jacob," Levinson said, revealing that he agreed to shoot the scene with "a real snake."

Recounting this himself, Elrodi explained, "They had a boa constrictor that they put a fake rattler on the end of, and Sam was like, 'We're just gonna drop a snake on you.'"
Because it was a boa rather than a rattlesnake, Elordi was in no danger of actually receiving a deadly venomous bite. But that only made thingsslightlyless frightening.
"The snakes were rattling, which is really alarming when you're locked in a box," he pointed out.

Scary sounds aside, Elordi said his coffin companion was actually "super cute."
"He was, like, real cuddly, so he just saddled up next to me, and it was nice," Elordi said of the snake. "But he was real sleepy. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up."
As for Nate's pitiful last stand, Elordi said it was "bittersweet" to say goodbye to a character he's been playing since 2019.
"This show is a massive part of, not just my career, but my life," he shared. "It's been amazing, and I'm so proud, being a part of this."
