PHILADELPHIA (AP) — And the Emmy goes to ... Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner? Turner already won an NL batting title and a World Series championship ring in his 11-year MLB career. How about adding an Emmy Award to that trophy case? "Trea Turner's an Emmy winner, absolutely," sports documentary producer Kyle Thrash said. "He definitely held it up like he owned it." Turner may not actually have the award in hand to keep for good, but he got to hoist the real deal ahead of Friday's game against Toronto in a short celebration for the Emmy won for a best sports short documentary produced on the2023 standing ovationcredited with turning around his season. "The Turnaround" won a sports Emmy in May and Thrash and Phillies fan Jon McCann — whose personal struggles with mental health and kinship with Turner were the heart of the film — attended the game to show off their new bling to Turner. "Cuz, we did it, huh?! "McCann said as he shook Turner's hand on the field after batting practice. "Trea Turner, we share an Emmy together." Turner read the inscription at the bottom of the Emmy and promised the fans he would wave to them in section 301 if he stole a base in Friday's game. "We get to bring a trophy back to the ballpark tonight and share it with so many people that were involved in the standing ovation. It's pretty incredible," Thrash said. Philly sports fans — often billed as some of the worst in sports — gave a slumping Turner standing ovations in at-bats throughout the weekend in an August 2023 series to show he had their full support. Turner was in the first season of an11-year, $300 million dealwith the Phillies but was batting just .238 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. He was even dropped to eighth in the batting order headed into that series against Kansas City. In three games over the weekend against the Royals, Turner went 4 for 12 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs and he would eventually help lead the Phillies to the playoffs. Turner later helped pay for "Thank You, Philly" digital billboards in the greater Philadelphia area. The documentary was produced by Higher Ground, the media company founded by former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama McCann, also known as "The Philly Captain," is a Philadelphia based YouTuber and was one of the fans — along with a Philly sports talk radio host — credited with rallying the fans to get behind Turner. "During the ceremony, one of the award presenters said, 'When you go up against the Olympics, you lose.' So I kind of thought we already lost," McCann said. "We didn't. It was a great, great shock." ___ AP MLB:https://apnews.com/MLB

NBA trade rumors: The latest on a Kevin Durant deal, Knicks' coaching search and Giannis Antetokounmpo movesNew Foto - NBA trade rumors: The latest on a Kevin Durant deal, Knicks' coaching search and Giannis Antetokounmpo moves

NBA commissioner Adam Silver might prefer that teams don't make blockbuster trades or other league-altering types of news during theNBA Finals, while theOklahoma City ThunderandIndiana Pacerscompete for a championship. However, three stories continue to create buzz around the league outside of the Finals. Kevin Durantis reportedly close to being traded to the fifth team of his 17-year NBA career. TheNew York Knickscould be zeroing in on their next head coachafter firing Tom Thibodeau. AndGiannis Antetokounmpo's future with theMilwaukee Bucksis still up in the air. Where do all of those stories stand asthe Finals go to a Game 4? Yahoo Sports has you covered with all the biggest NBA rumors below. Durant could be on his new teamby the end of this weekend, according toESPN's Shams Charania. Apparently, the list of teams close to making a deal has been reduced to three. As many as eight teams, including theToronto RaptorsandLos Angeles Clippers, had expressed interest in a trade, Charania told "The Pat McAfee Show." Yet one of those clubs could still get back into the Durant sweepstakes as a wild card looking to make an impactful addition. If Miami is the team closest to a deal, it likely won't involve Tyler Herro or Bam Adebayo. Those two are considered "off limits,"reports Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The 36-year-old scorer is inthe final year of a contractthat will pay him $54.7 million. The Knicks'search for a new head coachhas also reportedly narrowed down to two candidates, both of whom are not currently head coaches with other NBA teams. New York initially pursuedDallas Maverickscoach Jason Kidd and Ime Udoka of the Rockets, only to be denied permission to interview both of them. The Knicks reportedly also inquired aboutAtlanta Hawkscoach Quin Snyder, Billy Donovan of theChicago Bullsand Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, but were denied. However, there is some belief the Knicks could take another run at one of their previous targets. New York is now reportedly moving on to previous head coaches who were fired this season. The team has increased its focus on Mike Brown, mostly recently with theSacramento Kings, and Taylor Jenkins, fired by theMemphis Grizzliesshortly before this season's NBA playoffs, reports The Athletic's Sam Amick. Thoughts on Taylor Jenkins or Mike Brown as the Knicks HC pick?!Today's#knicksbackpagepic.twitter.com/yrOecdSl5d — Knicks Fan TV 🏀🎥📺🏁 (@KnicksFanTv)June 12, 2025 Brown was fired in late Decemberwith a 13-18 record that put the Kings 12th in the Western Conference. He is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, winning the honor most recently in 2023. Brown also previously coached theCleveland CavaliersandLos Angeles Lakers, compiling an overall record of 454-304. The Grizzlies fired Jenkinswith nine games remaining in the regular season, after six seasons as Memphis' head coach. At the time, the Grizzlies were 44-20 and ranked fifth in the West. He had a 250-214 record as head coach after six seasons as an assistant with the Hawks andMilwaukee Bucks. Antetokounmpo is currently expected to remain with the Bucks when next season begins,ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontempsreport. General manager Jon Horst (whorecently received a contract extension) and head coach Doc Rivers have presented team ownership with plans based on building the roster around the two-time NBA MVP. The belief is the Bucks can compete for one of the top six playoff berths in the East with theBoston CelticsandPhiladelphia 76ersfacing uncertainty. (Boston isreportedly willing to entertain offersfor any player besides Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.) That's especially true ifDamian Lillardreturns fromhis torn Achilles injuryby the end of next season. However, those ambitions might require Milwaukee to go over the luxury tax. Re-signing centerBrook Lopezand forwardBobby Portiswould very likely put the Bucks in that position, in addition to signing a point guard who could replace Lillard for most of the season. The possibility remains ownership could pass on whatever plan Horst and Rivers present, and Antetokounmpo could formally request a trade if no plan for a successful future appears to be in place. Yet the Bucksreportedly don't want to trade himunless he actually asks to be dealt.

Face it, folks, we're all going to die. Whether it's via natural causes or the business end ofMichael Myers'kitchen knife landing in your head, death is inevitable. Because that clock is ticking, why notrevisit some scary classicsor –if you're a horror virgin– check them out for the very first time? (And perhaps last, because, you know. See above. Hey, we don't make the rules.) We put together a tried-and-true list of 25 old-school favorites, influential giants and hidden gems worth a watch before that creepy girl whocrawled out of the TVkills you. Or, if you're not really in the dying mood, to celebrate Friday the 13th as you avoid a looming doom. (Sorry, Jason Voorhees, you don't make the cut. Don't take it personally. And watch where you point that machete, buster.) Dig in. IF YOU DARE: Looking for a Halloween horror film?We rank the 75 best of this century. Though modern eyes might not initially understand the appeal of the silent film – one of the first horror flicks ever – spend some time with the tale of a sleepwalker (Conrad Veidt) hypnotized into murder, immerse yourself in the striking German expressionist imagery and get wowed by an early twist ending. You can't go wrong with any of the classic Universal monsters (Dracula, Wolf Man, Mummy) but this is a two-for-one extravaganza in which Boris Karloff reprises his role as Frankenstein's Monster and Elsa Lanchester is the bride with the lightning-zapped hair. Hollywood has given us many Draculas over the years, from Bela Lugosi to Gary Oldman, though it's Britain's Hammer Horror banner that gave us the most fearsome take in a ferociously fanged Christopher Lee and pitted him against Peter Cushing's famed vampire hunter Van Helsing. Alfred Hitchcock's"Psycho"featured a cross-dressing killer with a thing for showers. At least you can avoid seedy motels to steer clear of that guy. Squadrons of seemingly innocent feathered fiends turning sinister and pecking at your face is a next-level threat. If you're going to watch one zombie movie,George Romero's original chilleris the granddaddy of them all. Even a half-century later, the undead ghouls that descend upon survivors in a Pennsylvania farm house are timeless and the gut-punch ending couldn't be more timely. William Friedkin's movieabout innocence lost and the power of faithhas unnerved several generations, and it's Linda Blair's harrowing portrayal of a possessed girl and the deeper meanings about good and evil that'll stick with you more than the infamous images of a spinning head or inappropriately used crucifix. Hey, it's a throwback to when people opened up the beaches too soon not because of a contagious disease but because ofa killer shark.Steven Spielberg's original summer blockbuster unleashed a great white that put a dangerous edge on the waterlogged adventure. John Carpenter's slash-terpiece introduced an iconic masked maniac to babysittingJamie Lee Curtisand an unsuspecting Illinois suburbia. Pick your villainous poison from the likes of Freddy, Jason and Leatherface, but Michael Myers' mythology and an all-too-realistic streak makes "Halloween" a cut above. Whether you think it's a sci-fi film, horror movie, haunted house flick in space or a darn good argument for chest plates,Ridley Scott's cosmic trip gone very wrongis bursting with goodness. The terror is real, y'all, and the killer extraterrestrial goes perfectly with the galactic claustrophobia. If Jack Nicholson running around an empty and isolated hotel out of his mind, talking to dead barkeeps and carrying an ax isn't scary enough for you, an elevator flowing blood, the creepiest twins of all time and an old decrepit naked lady in a bathtub should do the trick. American dudes backpacking in England get attacked by a werewolf, one of them becomes a beastly nuisance on the full moon, and things get bloody freaky in old London Town. All that plus undead buddies, fantastic special effects, an unreal transformation scene and it's pretty funny! John Carpenter's snowbound remake features a glorious Kurt Russell beard and a shapeshifting alien organism that assimilates other organisms and grows more frighteningly hideous over the course of the movie. Both are beautiful in their own ways. For real, everybody needs to see national treasure Jeff Goldblum getting turned into a monstrous insectoid, courtesy of body horror guru David Cronenberg, and Geena Davis absolutely freaking out after dreaming she birthed a giant maggot. Good times. Usethe musicalas a palate cleanser of sorts from some of these other fright fests. The Alan Menken songs will get your head bopping amid the retro narrative about a nerdy flower guy (Rich Moranis) who has a crush on a co-worker (Ellen Greene) and develops a co-dependent friendship with a man-eating plant. Nia DaCosta's sequelis pretty good, too, but it's worth it to go back to the original starring Tony Todd as the hook-handed title antagonist, a vengeful spirit of a slave's son murdered in post-Civil War America. The first movie remains relevant in its tackling of gentrification and the cyclical nature of violence. Wes Craven's slasher movie reinvention holds up so well. Ghostface gave us the definitive horror villain of the '90s, the opening sequence with Drew Barrymore and a telephone remains an all-timer, plus its cleverness hasn't waned since horror tropes never die. It really shouldn't be this enjoyable to watch Christian Bale hack a dude to death in Mary Harron's 1980s-set bloody satire about a cold, calculating and murderous New York investment banker with unusual proclivities. If nothing else, you'll never hear "Hip to Be Square" the same way ever again. More and more folks have found this underrated Frankenstein-esque tale over the years, starring Angela Bettis as an awkward yet hypnotic vet's assistant who not only keeps a creepy doll around but also puts together her own special friend from spare body parts. If you're going to watch two zombie movies, have "Night of the Living Dead" be the shot and this the chaser. A rage-inducing virus breaks out in England and leaves London eerily empty while speedy zombies are out for flesh in a story steeped in metaphor that speaks to the pandemic era. A British soldier (Neil Maskell) comes home, reconnects with his family and gets work as a hitman. Ben Wheatley's genre-mashing masterpiece sticks to being a crime thriller until it takes a turn toward the sinister and transforms into something way more terrifying. Teens and sex go with horror like hockey masks and summer camps. David Robert Mitchell ingeniously makes a sexually transmitted disease his villain, and Maika Monroe isthe girl who's cursed after intercourseand is pursued by a dogged dark force until she can pass it on to someone. Wouldst thou like to live deliciously? Um, yes, please and thank you. The freaky period piece and tragic family drama features Anja Taylor-Joy as a troubled 17th-century teen on the cusp of adulthoodwho goes down a dark pathand Black Phillip as the G.O.A.T. of hellish goats. If you can't empathize with Daniel Kaluuya's victimized protagonist and his shocked, tear-stained face as he's taken to the Sunken Place, you might just be a soulless demon.Jordan Peele's social horror insta-classicis an impressively crafted take on race that changed the scary movie game. Hail Paimon? Hail Toni Collette! She tears it up in Ari Aster's supernaturally absorbing, demonic dissolution of a family whose grand matriarch was into some seriously weird stuff."Hereditary" is full of shock and awe, with absolutely brutal deaths and an unshakable sense of doom. Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou announced themselves asessential young horror voiceswith this unforgettable indie flick about a teen (Sophie Wilde) and her friends who livestream being possessed by spirits via a strange embalmed hand. Might make you rethink that next TikTok. This article originally appeared on USA TODAY:Best scary movies: Watch these 25 horror films this Friday the 13th

Panthers power play production could be an edge in tight Stanley Cup Final against the OilersNew Foto - Panthers power play production could be an edge in tight Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Staying out of the penalty box is a good place to start for all the players involved in the Stanley Cup Final. After talking all week aboutbeing more disciplined, the Edmonton Oilers were whistled for high-sticking a couple of times and tripping once in the first 16 minutes of Game 4 on Thursday night. Naturally, Matthew Tkachuk scored twice for Florida Panthers, and then a slashing call put the Oilers on the power play and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' goal sparkedtheir comeback that tied the series. "It's a good series," Tkachuk said. "Special teams, both teams' power play seemed to be clicking." Florida is clicking at a higher rate at 33%, going 7 of 21 with the man advantage, compared with 20% on 4 of 20 for Edmonton. In a final knotted 2-2 that has often beenas tight as it can bewith three games already decided in overtime, the Panthers' power play production has the potential to be a difference-maker. Until Tkachuk broke through, it had been the second unit of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe, Evan Rodrigues andNate Schmidtdoing most of the damage. "We're building a lot of chemistry playing together," Verhaeghe said. "We have so many great players on the unit. Both units have been pretty good. I mean, we just want to move the puck right and get pucks to the net." The Panthers have five power play goals over the past two games and have scored at least one every night in the final. The Oilers have also cracked Sergei Bobrovsky at least once on the power play each game. Nugent-Hopkins scoring Thursday night could be a sign Connor McDavid and Co. are revving up against what has been a fairly effective Florida penalty kill. Coach Paul Mauricebelieves that task has gone "reasonably well." "I think they're still going to generate some action," Maurice said Friday before flying across North America. "I think the even strength chances are pretty tight through four games." Ekholm's block Tkachuk almost completed a hat trick in Game 4, and it could have changed the course of the entire series. With the score tied at 3-all late in the second period, he had the puck with a wide-open net to shoot at. Edmonton defenseman Mattias Ekholm got his right skate and leg in front of Tkachuk's shotjust in time. "I didn't even know that the net was empty or anything — I was just in the moment trying to get as big as possible," Ekholm said. "It ended up hitting me. It was obviously a big block at the time. I haven't thought too much more about it. It was a block, and sometimes you need those." Better Barkov? Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov picked up his first two points of the series in Game 4 with assists on Tkachuk's power-play goals. He has none at even strength. Some of that could be connected to how much energy Barkov — a three-timeSelke Trophy winneras the NHL's best defensive forward — is expending trying to keep McDavid's line and also Leon Draisaitl from scoring. He does not want to use that as an excuse. "It's tough to say," Barkov said. "You need to know, those two guys, where they are on the ice. Of course you're trying to have your head on a swivel, but I think I could be better, for sure." ___ AP NHL playoffs:https://apnews.com/hub/stanley-cupandhttps://apnews.com/hub/nhl

Toronto may beDrake's home turf, but even crowds in the 6 can't resist that catchyKendrick verse. During a concert in the Canadian province Thursday, June 12, fans chanted along asKendrick Lamarperformed his viralDrake diss track "Not Like Us." Part of what feels like a never ending victory lap,Lamar's performance punctuated just how universal the song has become. In Toronto, where maple syrup is a more common export than rap, Drake is an artistic icon. But, as concertgoers parroted back Lamar's cruelest verses, calling Drake a "colonizer" and "pedophile," even his home court advantage seemed to fade. The episode is another nail in the coffin of a slow-motion rap battle, the likes of which the hip-hop world has not seen in decades. The roots of Lamar and Drake's feud go back more than a decade to 2013, though things quickly intensified in spring 2024 as the two traded bars and barbs with shocking allegations. Over the course of nine songs, both rappers hurled insults at one another in rapid succession, with nothing off limits – looping in city pride, claims of physical and sexual abuse, and parental absenteeism. Then, "Not Like Us" blew the beef wide open, bringing it into the mainstream as Lamar's lyrically rich takedown became a streaming hit. Fever say Caitlin Clark will be ready to play in showdown with Liberty on SaturdayNew Foto - Fever say Caitlin Clark will be ready to play in showdown with Liberty on Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark ended practice Friday by making a halfcourt shot and winning a little bit of lunch money in the process. And with that, the Indiana Fever star is ready to play again. Clark — barring any unforeseen setbacks — is expected to be in the lineup when the Fever play host to the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon. She missed the last five Indiana games with a quadriceps injury. "As long as we don't have any regressions, she's going to be ready to roll," Fever coach Stephanie White said. Clark returned to practice this week, and her comeback game just happens to be a nationally televised one against the Liberty — the defending champs and, at 9-0, the last unbeaten team left in the league this season. New York is winning its games by an average of 19 points. "I'm really excited," Clark said. "I think it's definitely been a process. I think the hardest part is when you like begin to feel really good and then it's just a process of working yourself back into actually getting up and down and getting out there with my teammates." The halfcourt shot at the end of practice was the kicker of a friendly competition, and Clark (who says she rarely wins the halfcourt contests) did wave a few dollars that she won around afterward — in case anyone needed a reminder of her shooting range. The Fever (4-5) went 2-3 in Clark's absence. She was averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists, six rebounds and 1.3 steals per game when she got hurt. There's still a long way to go this season, but no player in WNBA history has ever finished a season averaging that many points, assists, rebounds and steals per game. Clark freely acknowledges that she's not a patient person, but she understood the process and why it was important to not skip any steps in her recovery. Among the treatments: "anything under the sun," she said, including everything from massage to weights to hyperbaric therapy. "It was certainly a learning opportunity, and I think it's going to benefit me a lot throughout my career, just falling back and understanding certain moments like this," Clark said. "But I'm super, super excited. I'm antsy to get out there and probably shake off a little bit of rust and then play." Clark's return is the latest bit of big basketball news in Indianapolis, along with the Indiana Pacers going into Friday'sGame 4 of the NBA Finalsleading the Oklahoma City Thunder 2-1.Clark and many other Fever playerswere atGame 3on Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the same court where they'll be taking on the Liberty on Saturday. Even though Clark and the Fever have an early game Saturday, some — Clark included — plan on at least seeing some of Game 4 on Friday night. "It's incredible. It's incredible," White said when asked about the energy around basketball in Indianapolis right now. "As someone who grew up in the state of Indiana andas the saying goes, 'This is Indiana.'And so, the energy's incredible. It's such a fun time to be in the city." The Fever are also expected to have guard Sophie Cunningham (ankle) back for the game against the Liberty on Saturday. Cunningham has averaged 6.5 points in four games so far this season. "It's really reintegrating two of our top six players, right? Reintegrating them back into the system," White said. "Some of the things that we run will look different than without Caitlin on the floor, certainly. Sophie's versatility and being able to play in multiple positions ... it is like starting Day 1 again." ___ AP WNBA:https://apnews.com/hub/wnba-basketball

OAKMONT, Pa. — The easiest way to deal with Oakmont's vicious rough and slick greens? Just put the ball in the cup from the tee. It's so simple, why doesn't everyone do it? Victor Perez carded the first ace of the 2025 U.S. Open Friday on the 192-yard par-3 6th: 🚨 ACE ALERT 🚨Victor Perez 🇫🇷 with a great shot and an even better celebration!pic.twitter.com/cmkThegam2 — U.S. Open (@usopengolf)June 13, 2025 The shot was a brilliant one. The chest-bump celebration with his caddie might have been even better. Those are tough tasks for golfers to pull off, and Perez could've gotten hurt. The ace moved him to +1, well insidethe Friday cut lineand within five strokes of J.J. Spaun's clubhouse lead. This marks the 54th hole-in-one in U.S. Open history, but only the second at an Open played at Oakmont. The only previous ace at the course, which is hosting its 10th U.S. Open, came in 1983, when Scott Simpson aced the 16th hole. A little more than 10 minutes later, Brooks Koepka nearly aced the sixth as well, landing his tee shot just inches from the hole.
