Bobby Sherman, a singer and actor who became a quintessential shaggy-haired teen idol of the late 1960s and early '70s, died Tuesday at age 81. His wife, Brigette Poublon Sherman, had announced three months ago that the entertainer had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. In posting the news of his death to Instagram Tuesday morning, Poublon Sherman wrote, "It is with the heaviest heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Bobby Sherman. Bobby left this world holding my hand — just as he held up our life with love, courage, and unwavering grace through all 29 beautiful years of marriage. I was his Cinderella, and he was my prince charming. Even in his final days, he stayed strong for me. That's who Bobby was—brave, gentle, and full of light." She continued, "As he rested, I read him fan letters from all over the world — words of love and gratitude that lifted his spirits and reminded him of how deeply he was cherished. He soaked up every word with that familiar sparkle in his eye. And yes, he still found time to crack well-timed jokes — Bobby had a wonderful, wicked sense of humor. It never left him. He could light up a room with a look, a quip, or one of his classic one-liners." Sherman's wife pointed to how he had reinvented himself in his post-idol decades, finding new roles far from the screen or concert stage: "He was a man of service. He traded sold-out concerts and magazine covers for the back of an ambulance, becoming an EMT and a trainer with the LAPD. He saved lives. He showed us what real heroism looks like — quiet, selfless, and deeply human." His friend John Stamos confirmed the news, reposting Brigitte's message and adding, "From one ex-teen idol to another — rest in peace Bobby Sherman." View this post on Instagram A post shared by John Stamos (@johnstamos) The news had been anticipated ever since his wife revealed to fans in social media posts in late March and early April that the entertainer had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, explaining why he would no longer be able to make personal appearances. "Thank you so much for still remembering him," shewrotethen on her Facebook page. "We really appreciate it." She had elaborated on his condition in an interview with Fox News Digital published April 2,sayingthat Sherman was "at home with special care" at that time after the previous night being in the hospital and telling her, "Brig, I just want to go home." Poublon Sherman added that he was suffering from kidney cancer that had "spread everywhere… He was doing crossword puzzles with me in the last few days. And then all of a sudden Saturday, he turned around and… he's just sleeping more and his body's not working anymore. Everything's shutting down." Sherman came to fame as a regular for two seasons on the ABC series "Here Come the Brides" in 1968-1970 and quickly parlayed that into an even bigger career as a singing star. Sherman was especially beloved by adolescent and pre-teen girls for his hit singles and television appearances, coming to be literally the poster boy for the power of bubblegum music for a few years. With his suitable-for-wall-pasting photo spreads in magazines like Tiger Beat and 16, Sherman was rivaled only by Donny Osmond and David Cassidy in his power to mesmerize with a soothing voice and cuddly good looks. At his peak, in 1969-70, he had four singles reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and achieve gold-selling status: "Little Woman" (No. 3), "La La La (If I Had You)" (No. 9), "Easy Come, Easy Go" (No. 9) and perhaps his best-known song, or the one most likely to be spontaneously belted out by fans of a certain age, "Julie, Do Ya Love Me" (No. 5). Other hits that didn't reach quite that high but still impacted the Hot 100 or adult contemporary charts included "Hey, Mister Sun," "Cried Like a Baby," "The Drum" and "Jennifer." He also had three albums achieve gold status. Sherman got his first break while he was attending Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley. As he would later recall it, he was dating a girl who knew a famous Hollywood director and was invited to a July 4 party at a beachside home, which turned out to be filled with celebrities. He knew some of the members of the band that was performing at the party from high school, and when he was encouraged to jump up and sing a couple of numbers with them, it turned out to be fateful. "When I started singing, kids started jumping up on the wall from the public side, I guess, to see who was singing," hetoldwriter Ann Moses. "After it was all over, Jane Fonda and Natalie Wood came up to me and said, 'We think you're very talented, are you being managed?' I said, 'No, not really.' And they said, 'Well you should do something about it.'" Within the week, he said, Wood had arranged meetings for him with both MGM and an agent, and soon he was booked by Jack Good on the teen music show "Shindig." "I, of course, had never made a record and I didn't have anything on tape," he recalled, so he lip-synched at his audition to a recording of the then-hit "Palisades Park." "After I did the number, Jack said, 'Groovy, please wait outside.' A few minutes later he came out and said, 'How would you like to do 26 of our shows?' … Just like that I was in the business." Sherman soon came to realize he would be the selling point to a network for "Shindig," which had gone through pilots but remained in limbo. "They were looking for the all-American kind of kids, because everything else was very long hair and British at the time. Jack Good put me on the (subsequent) pilot as this kid with cropped hair, very straight, singing 'Back Home in Indiana.'" Although he picked up a following, the show was canceled, and Sherman went into what he called eight months of "dark days," wondering if his one shot had come and gone. He did manage to book episodes of "The Monkees," "The FBI" and "Honey West" when he met future manager Ward Sylvester and Screen Gems VP Streve Blauner, who asked him, "I have a show that you might be good for — can you stutter?" — putting him up for the pilot of "Here Come the Brides." The hour-long comedy-Western show ran for two seasons, from fall 1968 through spring 1970, with Sherman coming to stardom as younger brother Jeremy Bolt alongside costar David Soul. Later acting roles included guest shots on "The Partridge Family," "The Mod Squad," "Emergency!," "Murder She Wrote," "The FBI" and "Frasier," plus a regular role on the short-lived USA Network series "Sanchez of Bel Air" in 1986. He appeared in two films, the 1975 family film "He Is My Brother" and the 1983 cult favorite "Get Crazy," a rock-themed film in which he was ironically paired with Fabian as the comedy's henchman villains. Sherman stopped recording in the mid-1970s. After eschewing the life of a singer for roughly a quarter-century, Sherman went back on the road in 1998 on a nostalgia tour with Davy Jones and Peter Noone, before retiring again from most musical pursuits three years later. On an appearance with Dick Clark in the 1990s, Sherman said that he had not given up his role as an entertainer, but his personal focus was on other areas. "I'm still in show business," Sherman said, "but I volunteer my time basically as a emergency medical technician and a special officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, where I teach police officers first aid and CPR at the Los Angeles Police Academy." Asked why this had become a focus of interest, Sherman said, "When my two sons, Christopher and Tyler, were growing up, I had visions of them kind of falling out of trees and bites and all that, so I wanted to be prepared for any emergency, so i took first aid. And I just fell in love with it. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know more, and the next thing I know, I'm an instructor." When he was asked in the '90s if he'd ever grown weary of his fame, Sherman said, "Never did. I was blessed with some really nice fans, and they're still with me, so God bless 'em. And any time I go out, I don't try to hide from 'em; I don't wear disguises. I'm just as eager to see them as they are to see me." But his conversations often turned to his private passion for medical aid. "If I had a wish, I would wish that every man, woman and child would learn first aid and CPR," he said. "It works, and you never know when you're gonna be called upon to take care of somebody." Sherman was divorced from the mother of his two sons, Patti Carnel. He married Brigitte, a native of Indonesia, in 2010. Besides Brigitte, Sherman is survived by Tyler and Christopher and six grandchildren. In her social media message, Brigitte added: "He lived with integrity, gave without hesitation, and loved with his whole heart. And though our family feels his loss profoundly, we also feel the warmth of his legacy — his voice, his laughter, his music, his mission. Thank you to every fan who ever sang along, who ever wrote a letter, who ever sent love his way. He felt it." Pedro Pascal was lauded by several of his co-stars in a newVanity Fair cover story, most notably by Robert Downey Jr. The two stars are set to face off against each other in the upcoming Marvel movie "Avengers: Doomsday," which has been filming this summer at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. ahead of a December 2026 release date. The two actors have gotten close on the "Doomsday" set, with Downey hosting "homework days" at his home for the cast to presumably workshop scenes. Pascal would not reveal exactly what goes down on these days, only answering the question with the following remark: "Very good question." More from Variety Pedro Pascal Called Out J.K. Pascal will be reprising his "Fantastic Four" character Reed Richards. Pascal makes his Marvel debut in July's "Fantastic Four: First Steps." "Pascal's slow trajectory to becoming a household name who is on a wildly hot streak kind of reaffirms my faith in our industry," Downey told Vanity Fair about his co-star and friend. Pascal returned the favor by saying of Downey: "He's just so immediately generous and inviting that you feel like you can be afraid, you can be hungry, you can be ambivalent." Pascal said he was well aware about the "disgruntlement around my casting" as Reed Richards, with people complaining: "He's too old. He's not right. He needs to shave." He turned to Downey during these difficult times and remained committed to his Marvel role. "He doesn't have much armor, so he shows himself to you straight away, and you trust that person because he's revealing himself to you in this very brave way," Pascal's "Fantastic Four" co-star Vanessa Kirby added about Pascal. Other co-stars who participated in Pascal's Vanity Fair cover story include Bella Ramsey, who became a close friend of Pascal's during their time on HBO's "The Last of Us" together. Ramsey told the magazine that she dislikes the "daddy" label that's become synonymous with Pascal on social media. Pascal is often called the internet's daddy and even embraced the term when he said during a 2022 Vanity Fair video interview: "Daddy is a state of mind. I'm your daddy." "I felt worried for him," Ramsey said. "I want to protect him from that whole joke of becoming the internet's daddy. I was like, 'I don't want everyone to refer to you as that and see you as that. You're so much more.'" Head over toVanity Fair's websiteto read Pascal's cover story in its entirety. Matt Martin retires, leaving the NHL with just a few visor-less playersNew Foto - Matt Martin retires, leaving the NHL with just a few visor-less players

Matt Martin announced his retirement Tuesday after 16 NHL seasons, all but two with the New York Islanders, a departure that leaves the league with only a few players who take the ice without a visor. Martin was one of just five holdovers in the league who played without a visor on his helmet. His move to the front office as special assistant toIslanders general manager Mathieu Darchemakes Ryan O'Reilly, Jamie Benn, Zach Bogosian and Ryan Reaves the only visor-less players remaining. The NHL and NHL Players' Associationagreed in 2013 to mandate visorsfor newcomers, grandfathering them like helmets were decades earlier. Asked about it in November 2023, Martin figured it would be a major adjustment to put a visor back on, especially given how much of his job on the ice was fighting. He played his final of 1,075 regular-season and playoff games without one on April 17. "If they mandated it, I would've wore it," Martin told The Associated Press at the time. "I took it off because of the role I play, and at the time, everybody that played that role didn't wear it. I got used to that, so I never changed." Craig MacTavish, who played until 1997, was the NHL's last helmetless player. Martin called Benn and O'Reilly "the odds-on favorites" to be the last without a visor. ___ AP NHL:https://apnews.com/hub/nhl

Curtis made her relationship with Sawtelle Instagram official in July 2019 by sharing a photo of them kissing while she sat on his lap. Neither Curtis nor Sawtelle publicly announced when they broke up, but he last posted a video with her in 2021. So, who is Nicole Curtis' ex-boyfriend, Ryan Sawtelle? Here's everything to know about the carpenter and his relationship with theRehab Addictstar. Ryan Sawtelle/Instagram Just like Curtis, Sawtelle works in home improvement. He frequently posts about his carpentry, gardening and remodeling skills. In 2023, Sawtelle built asignificant vegetable gardenwith wooden structures from scratch. He's alsoshown himselfinstalling new flooring, driving a Bobcat machine and cutting tree branches that are dozens of feet high. He joked about his love for home renovation by sharing a photo of him sawing a piece of wood in a June 2023 Instagrampostand captioning the picture, "Another day, another project (that I'll start and probably never finish)." In addition to his work as a carpenter, Sawtelle is also passionate about the nonprofit he founded, White Heart Foundation. The organization is dedicated to "Helping veterans and first responders cope with the psychological impact of their heroic service," per thewebsite's description. Sawtelle previously shared that he's expressed interest in giving back to veterans since 2006 when he built a 9/11 memorial, Wave of Flags, on the Pepperdine University campus. "In 2006, I approached the then-president of Pepperdine with an idea to build a 9/11 memorial display on campus. It took me two years of fundraising (across multiple states), meetings with several depts, weeks of missed classes, coordination with suppliers/surveyors, metal shavings piling up on my back patio etc. to create this memorial in 2008," he captioned aphotoof him standing in the memorial in September 2023. He added, "It took me years of dedication and steadfastness to create the Wave of Flags ... and I am proud of what I have built." Ryan Sawtelle/Instagram In 2019, Curtis told PEOPLE that she firstconnected with Sawtelle on social mediabefore they hit it off while shooting a promo forRehab Addict. Curtis first found Sawtelle on social media while he was posting about his young niece Arden's battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive brain tumor found in children. "We were coming up on the one year anniversary of [her friend's 9-year-old daughter] Tessa's death and when he posted that Arden had died, I was crushed," Curtis recalled. "I cried for Tessa and also, I sat there crying knowing the struggles his family would be facing in the upcoming days, weeks, years. I reached out to him to see if we could help in anyway and also, to let them know we were all praying for them." The two began chatting, and she learned that he had a motorcycle she could use in a promo forRehab Addict. "When we finished, he asked if I wanted to take a ride," Curtis said. "I was in no place in my life for a relationship so I didn't really connect the dots, but looking back we've agreed this was a first date. Sunset on the back of a motorcycle next to this guy staring at the ocean – a pretty good one at that!" Nicole Curtis/Instagram Sawtelle shared his first Instagramphotowith Curtis of the two of them attending a concert in Nashville, Tenn., in November 2018. He captioned the picture, "12-hour stop in Nashville. ✔️." Meanwhile, Curtis waited a few months to go public with her new romance. In July 2019, she posted a since-deleted photo of them kissing while she sat on his lap. Curtis continued showing off their love by posting Instagram Stories of them getting ready and all dressed up. Just a few days after making her relationship Instagram official, Curtis told PEOPLE that Sawtelle brought her "a calm I've never known." "My heart is happy and having him near me brings a calm I've never known," she said in July 2019. "Not that it's been easy. Everyone has a great first few months rocking everything they have in common, but after six months you start digging into the other stuff and you either grow apart or negotiate those differences and move forward. And [you] have to make a decision to focus on the fun." Curtis added, "I've been on my own so long that I never take a second of this for granted. He's handsome, he makes me proud, he makes me laugh and we sing every song that comes on together: him in perfect pitch knowing every word, me, not even close!" Curtis has not specified when she and Sawtelle ended their romantic relationship. She has deleted her past photos with him, while the contractor last posted with Curtis for Valentine's Day 2021. At the time, he posted a throwbackvideoof the two doing a skit together from Valentine's Day 2019. HGTV Even though Curtis and Sawtelle stopped seeing each other romantically, they continued staying in touch and working together. After a three-year hiatus from her hit HGTV showRehab Addict, Curtis told PEOPLE about returning for a new season and asking Sawtelle for help with one of her projects. "I didn't know anyone in Wyoming, but I knew somebody near Wyoming, and so I gave him a call," she explained. "We just went out there together and checked out the house. It wasn't anything else." Curtis further clarified that after working together, there weren't any sparks to revisit. "There was definitely no reconciliation or 'Maybe this was a mistake not being together.' No, no, no, ... Us going separate paths was a hundred percent the best idea that we ever had," she shared. Read the original article onPeople

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchezare tying the knot, and it might just be the biggest wedding of the year. The techpreneur and socialite's upcoming Italian nuptials have turned the internet (and the city of Venice) upside down as photos and reports emerge of lavish celebrations and a who's who of A-listers arriving via boat. The Amazon founderis among the world's richest men,and Sánchez, his romantic second act, is an ex-journalist who has lent a quasi-feminist spin to his oft-critiqued business ventures. Their romancehas captured the world's attention, and its opulence will be on full display this month as a slew of celebrity guests arrive to watch the power couple say "I do." Here's a look back at their relationship timeline. Bezos and his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, with whom he shares four children, split officiallythat same year. Sánchez was already in the process of divorcing her husband, Patrick Whitesell, with whom she shares two children. In a post to theblogging website Medium in February 2019,Bezos accused the National Enquirer of blackmailing him with intimate text messages and photos he and Sánchez exchanged, several of which, the outlet claimed, showed him still with his wedding ring on. "Of course I don't want personal photos published, but I also won't participate in their well-known practice of blackmail, political favors, political attacks, and corruption," Bezos wrote in the post. The 18-member committee met Monday and Tuesday to nominate and elect a class of eight players and builders. Players must not have played in a professional or international game in any of the previous three seasons. Builders are eligible even if they are still active in the game. Candidates must receive at least 75% of the vote from the Selection Committee in order to be elected. Jennifer Botterill (Player)— A three-time Olympic gold medalist, Botterill helped Canada win five IIHF World Championship gold medals while averaging over a point per game in her international career (62 goals and 164 points in 162 games). Before starring on the international level, Botterill was a standout player at Harvard and was a back-to-back winner of the Patty Kazmaier Award, which recognizes the top women's collegiate player. Zdeno Chára (Player)— "Big Z" played for the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals over a 1,680-game NHL career that saw him score 209 goals and 680 points. An unmistakeable presence on the ice at 6-foot-9, Chara was one of the best defensemen of his era winning the 2008-09 Norris Trophy as the league's top blue liner. He was also a three-time NHL first-team All-Star and was a part of the 2010-11 Stanley Cup winning Bruins squad. Chára also holds the hardest shot record with a 108.8 mph blast during one of his five Hardest Shot competition victories during NHL All-Star Weekend. Internationally, Chára won silver medals at the IIHF World Championship and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey representing Slovakia. John Lamparski/Getty Aaron Rodgers slammed the "entitlement to information" about his personal life and new wife, Brittani, during an appearance onThe Pat McAfee Show The quarterback said Brittani is "a private person" who "didn't sign up to be a celebrity" Rodgers questioned why it's the "norm" to reveal personal information about athletes and asked, "What happened to common decency?" Aaron Rodgersis pleading for his privacy. The 41-year-old NFL star, whosecretly married his wife, Brittani, earlier this year, returned to thePat McAfee Showon Tuesday, June 24 and slammed the "entitlement to information" about his personal life and said his wife is a "private person" who doesn't want to be in the public eye. "It's a sick society, isn't it?," Rodgers began his lengthy message on the show. The quarterback, who said he plans to play just one season with the Steelers before retiring, said he had "lived in the public eye 20 years" and experienced a "public relationship." Likely referring to histumultuous relationshipswith actressShailene Woodleyand former race car driverDanica Patrick, he then asked, "How did that work out?" Perry Knotts/Getty Thenewest Pittsburgh Steelerlisted off ways that he feels his privacy has been invaded by the public, including "people calling the paparazzi" and "stalking me on the beach" during his offseason. "I had people leaking my home information," said Rodgers. "I didn't want any of that, didn't like any of that, and now I'm with somebody who's private," he added of Brittani, who "doesn't want to be in the public eye" and "didn't sign up to be a celebrity." Rodgers said he wants his "personal life to be private" and asked why "entitlement to personal information" has become a "norm" in society. "It's a norm to be able to have athletes' addresses?," he continued, sharing that the details of a home he purchased in Pittsburgh were posted online. "What happened to common decency about security and a personal life?," he asked. Again, Rodgers described his wife as a "private person" who "doesn't have social media" and said the public will only see photos of her when and if she chooses. "If and when she wants to be out, and there's a picture, she'll choose that and she has a right to that," the quarterback said. Concluding his monologue, Rodgers told McAfee that once he plays his last season in the fall, he's planning to escape from the public eye entirely. "I told you, when this is all done, I'm out. You won't see me," he said. "And I know that I've chosen to be in the public eye for one more season, but my private life is staying private. The entitlement to information about my private life is so f---ing ridiculous and embarrassing," the NFL star continued. Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 7, after months of rumors that he was courting the team following his split from the New York Jets, where he played two disappointing seasons before the team told him they wanted to "move in a different direction at quarterback." "Operation was a complete success and I'm hoping to get back on stage for at least one of the shows in Milan. Thank you all for all the good vibes. See you soon," he added. Springsteen and his E Street Band arrived in Europe in May, beginning in Manchester, before heading to Lille, France, Berlin, Germany, and Frankfurt, Germany. They are scheduled to perform in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on 27 June, before arriving in Milan, Italy, on 30 June, where they will play for two nights. Last year, Van Zandt opened up about a "very public career suicide" when he walked away from the E Street Band in 1984. Van Zandt had a long association with The Boss when he joined his band in 1975. By staying in the band, he explained, "there wouldn't have probably been any solo records, there wouldn't have been theSun Cityrecord, there wouldn't have beenThe SopranosorLilyhammer." Sean 'Diddy' Combs confirms he won't testify and praises the trial judge for an 'excellent job'New Foto - Sean 'Diddy' Combs confirms he won't testify and praises the trial judge for an 'excellent job'

NEW YORK (AP) —Sean "Diddy" Combstold the judge at his sex trafficking trial that he's doing an "excellent job" as he confirmed Tuesday that he won't testify. Combs made the comment to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian after being asked about testifying. The question was posed by the Manhattan jurist after the prosecution rested following a more than six-week-long presentation of evidence against the hip-hop maven. Later in the afternoon, the defense rested without calling any witnesses. In a routine occurrence after prosecutors rest at criminal trials, Combs' lawyers made arguments to toss out the charges, arguing the charges weren't proven. The judge said he'll rule at a later date. Prosecutors have called 34 witnesses to try to prove sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges that resulted in Combs' September arrest, including two ex-girlfriends of Combs who testified they felt coerced into marathon sex events with male sex workers that were called "freak-offs" or "hotel nights." Defense lawyers, though, say they were consensual sexual encounters consistent with the swingers lifestyle. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty and has remained incarcerated without bail in a federal lockup in Brooklyn after multiple judges concluded last fall that he was a danger to the community. It is standard practice at federal criminal trials for the judge to directly question the defendant about the decision to testify or not, in part to ensure that the defendant knows it is his decision, regardless of what his lawyers have told him. When it came time for Subramanian to question Combs after prosecutors rested, the judge asked him how he's doing. "I'm doing great, your honor," the Bad Boy Entertainment founder answered, before volunteering a compliment to the judge before another question could be posed. "I want to tell you thank you, you're doing an excellent job," Combs said. Combs said he "thoroughly" discussed the matter with his lawyers before deciding not to testify. "That is my decision, your honor," Combs said, adding: "That is solely my decision." Prodded by the judge, he clarified further: "I mean, it's my decision with my lawyers. ... My decision to make. I'm making it." Since the trial began in early May, government witnesses have included former employees of Combs' companies, but the bulk of its proof has come from the testimony of two former girlfriends: Casandra "Cassie" Ventura and a model and internet personality known to jurors only by the pseudonym "Jane." Ventura, 38,testified for four daysduring the trial's first week, saying she felt pressured to engage in hundreds of "freak offs" because the encounters would enable her to be intimate with Combs after performing sexually with male sex workers while he watched them slather one another with baby oil and sometimes filmed the encounters. Jane testifiedfor six days about the sexual performances she labeled "hotel nights," saying that she was putting them into perspective after beginning therapy three months ago. She said she felt coerced into engaging in them as recently as last August, but did so because she loved and still loves Combs. Ventura was in a relationship with Combs from 2007 to 2018, while Jane was frequently with him from 2021 until his arrest, which canceled her plan to meet him at the New York hotel where he was taken into custody. The Associated Press doesn't generally identify people who say they are victims of sexual abuse unless they come forward publicly, as Cassie has done. Throughout the trial, defense lawyers have made their case for exoneration through their questioning of witnesses, including several who testified reluctantly or only after they were granted immunity from any crimes they may have committed. Combs has been active in his defense, writing notes to his lawyers and sometimes helping them decide when to stop questioning a witness. He was admonished once by the judge for nodding enthusiastically toward jurors during a successful stretch of cross-examination by one of his lawyers. Prosecutors complained that his gestures were a form of testifying without being subject to cross-examination. The judge warned that he could be excluded from his trial if it happened again. In the past week, prosecutors and defense lawyers have shown jurors over 40 minutes of recordings Combs made of the "freak offs" or "hotel nights." Several jurors occasionally seemed squeamish as they viewed and listened to audio of the encounters, but most did not seem to react. In her opening statement, Geragos had called the videos "powerful evidence that the sexual conduct in this case was consensual and not based on coercion." Closing arguments were scheduled for Thursday.
