"A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal," let the games begin. "Squid Game"returns this week for its third and final season with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) aiming to put an end to the game after losing his best friend and "being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game." The upcoming season picks up right after Season 2's bloody cliffhanger, and finds Gi-hun, aka Player 456, "at his lowest point yet," says Netflix. "But the Squid Game stops for no one, so Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone's resolve," the season synopsis says. "With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences." The Front Man, meanwhile, "continues onto his next move and the surviving players' choices will lead to graver consequences with each round," says Netflix about the highly anticipated upcoming season. "Will Gi-hun make the right decisions, or will Front Man finally break his spirit?" the streamer adds. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told Netflix's Tudum"the new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail." "He is in utter despair after losing everything and watching all his efforts go in vain," Hwang says. "The story then takes an interesting turn, questioning whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values of humanity — like conscience and kindness — can exist in the arena." The viral dystopic show, which centers around main character Gi-hunhas delighted fans since its 2021 premiere, combining classic thriller elements with a deeper exploration of the human capacity for evil and the perils of an unequal society. Season 2 of "Squid Game" is currently the third-biggest season of a TV show in Netflix history with 192.6 million views so far, the streamer said. USC commit Alijah Arenas recalls Cybertruck crash that left him in a coma: 'I was trying to fight time'New Foto - USC commit Alijah Arenas recalls Cybertruck crash that left him in a coma: 'I was trying to fight time'

Roughly two months after he wasinvolved in a car crash and placed into a medically induced coma, USC basketball recruit Alijah Arenas is opening up about his horrifying experience. Arenas crashed his Tesla Cybertruck into a tree in Southern California while on his way back from the gym early on April 24. He lost control of the vehicle, crashed into a fire hydrant and slammed into the tree. Arenas said Tuesday that, after waking up about three minutes after the crash, he started to panic when he realized smoke was filling the car and he couldn't get the doors open. The Cybertruck's keypad and steering wheel weren't responding properly, and he couldn't unlock the car manually or through the Tesla app on his phone. The front dashboard, he added, was on fire too. "I woke up to something I've never been in before," he said, via InsideTroy. "I've never been in a car that was hot, it felt like a really hot sauna." Eventually, Arenas moved to the back seat and tried to break the window. He passed out briefly in the back seat, but woke up about 30 seconds later. Arenas later poured water on himself to try and cool his body down. Eventually, after nearly 10 minutes in the burning car, Arenas broke through the driver's side window with help from others who had rushed in to help him, and he escaped. "I was trying to fight time the whole time in the car," he said. Arenas was deemed stable at the scene, but he was taken to a local hospital and eventually placed into a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation. He ended up spending six days in the hospital, but avoided major injuries. Arenas, the son of former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas, is a five-star Rivals.com USC commit. The 6-foot-6 guard played at Chatsworth High School in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. He helped lead the school to the CIF Division II state title game in March, and he left the school as the all-time L.A. City Section scoring leader. He had offers from Kansas and Kentucky, among others, before landing at USC. Arenas said when he first woke upthat he was worried that he had hit somebody else. His parents said the first thing he did when he woke up in the hospital was write on a piece of paper and ask, "Did anyone get hurt?" Thankfully, nobody else was involved. "I'm glad at least it happened to me instead of somebody else," he said. "That was another thing I thought, like if my siblings, my older sister wanted to drive the car, anybody, I'm just thankful it was me and nobody else."

Steve From 'Blue's Clues' Is Back — With a New Podcast Just for Grown-UpsNew Foto - Steve From 'Blue's Clues' Is Back — With a New Podcast Just for Grown-Ups

Steve From 'Blue's Clues' Is Back — With a New Podcast Just for Grown-Upsoriginally appeared onParade. Steve Burns, the beloved original host ofBlue's Clues, is returning with an inspirational new podcast made for the grown-ups who grew up watching him. Steve Burns captured the hearts and minds of a generation as the host of Nickelodeon'sBlue's Clues. Adults and children alike were devastated when he left the show at the end of the 4th season. Rumors swirled, but the question of why he left remained unanswered for decades after. In 2022, Burns revealed the real reason for his departure toVariety, saying, "I didn't know it yet, but I was the happiest depressed person in North America. I was struggling with severe clinical depression the whole time I was on that show. It was my job to be utterly and completely full of joy and wonder at all times, and that became impossible. I was always able to dig and find something that felt authentic to me that was good enough to be on the show, but after years and years of going to the well without replenishing it, there was a cost." Burns largely dropped off the map, making only occasional public appearances to try to dispel the never-ending rumors about his death. In 2021, he burst back into the public sphere witha video posted to the Nick Jr. X accountin honor of the show's 25th anniversary. In the clip, he talked about Steve leaving to go to college and the effect it had on viewers. He talked about how college helped Steve achieve his dreams and then said, "And then look at you, and look at all you have done, and all you have accomplished in all that time. And it's just, it's just so amazing, right? I mean, we started out with clues, and now, it's what? Student loans, and jobs and families? And some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know you know." "I wanted to tell you that I really couldn't have done all of that without your help. And in fact, all the help that you helped me with when we were younger is still helping me today, right now. And that's super cool," Burns said. "I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years, I never forgot you. Ever. And I'm super glad we're still friends." Burns ended the clip by saying: "You look great, by the way. Whatever it is you're doing, is working." The post went viral immediately and was shared almost a million times, with views doubling that. This led to other posts by Burns in the same encouraging vein, and the response was the inspiration for his new podcast,Alive. Burns shared this about the upcoming podcast, "There are a thousand podcasts you can listen to, this is one that listens back. I really want to continue what we started decades ago… For us, it was all about curious investigation. It was about looking a little closer. About asking the right questions. About following the clues that helped lead us toward greater understanding.Aliveis really just a continuation of that same conversation — only now we're grown-ups, trying to make sense of a world that's a whole lot more complicated. We're still searching, still learning, still trying to connect. Still doing our best to lead deeply examined lives, together. And, you know, there'll be less talking furniture, sure, but we're still going to have a lot of fun along the way." 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 The podcast, slated to premiere in the fall, will be a weekly show where Burns and his guests will discuss "what it means to stay human in a complicated world." It will be produced and hosted by Lemonada Media. Jessica Cordova Kramer, CEO of Lemonada, said, "Adults need to be shepherded through life just as much as kids do, and Steve is the perfect person to do it. He taps right into your inner child, helping listeners feel delight, comfort, and curiosity. From the moment we saw Steve's videos on TikTok during the pandemic, we knew we had to work with him." Blue's Clueswas an educational children's television series created byTraci Page Johnson,Todd Kessler, andAngela C. Santomero. It ran on Nickelodeon's preschool block, Nick Jr., from September 8, 1996, until August 6, 2206. Burns was the host until he left in 2002 and was replaced byDonovan Patton, who played Steve's little brother Joe for the rest of the show's run. The show followed an animated blue-spotted dog named Blue as she left a trail of clues/paw prints for the host and the viewers to figure out and put together to guess what she wanted to do. A revival of the show,Blue's Clues & You, debuted in November 2019. It is hosted byJosh Dela Cruzand has many of the characters from the original show. Burns is a writer and director on the reboot and has made guest appearances as well. Members of theChristian rock band Newsboyssay they were dropped from their record label afterex-member Michael Taitadmitted to wrongdoing when sexual assault allegations surfaced. Adam Agee and his bandmates wanted to clear the air before they performed their set at Elevate, a two-day Christian music festival in Arizona over the weekend, telling fans gathered atHighlands Church in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdalethat they "encouraged" Tait to seek treatment after he had confessed to them in January that he had been living a double life and wanted help. Agee said in avideo posted to social mediathat they thought and prayed long and hard about "what was next," but ultimately felt like they still had "a ministry and a mission to do," which is why they continued perform. "The last six months, we've played from New York to Florida to California to right here Arizona and we have seen the most amazing people and the most amazing crowds, and we've seen the spirit do things that have been, it's so encouraging, and we've just had the best time as a band with you guys on the road," Agee said. The band's "world was rocked" by Tait's confession, where he revealed that the accusations made against him by fans in aJune 4 reportfrom Christian media outlet The Roys Report were "sadly, largely true," Agee said. Additional sexual misconduct allegations against Tait surfaced a week after the Christian singer's public admission. "As a result of all this and the things that have come out that he's confessed to, we've been dropped from our record label, we've had the radio stations pull our music and we've been cancelled by promoters and venues all over the world but not tonight," Agee said. Capitol Christian Music Group, the band's label, and Newsboys' management did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment June 25. Newsboys members denied any direct knowledge of the unwanted sexual advances Tait has been accused of, telling fans that the 59-year-old had only mentioned a "few things" about substance abuse and some personal struggles he was experiencing at home. "And so, it was so shocking to us because it's not the guy that we knew, the guy that we knew, that, we've been on the road with," Agee said. "He was our family, he was our brother, and he was a friend to our families, to our kids." The news has not only been "devastating" for them, but their families who have felt that "their names have been dragged through the mud" because of the situation. Tait was the former lead singer of Australian-formed Christian rock band Newsboys. The four-time Grammy-award winning vocalist replaced original member Peter Furler as the group's new lead vocalist in 2009. Tait officially left the group in January 2025 after 15 years. Before he performed with Newsboys, Tait was a founding member of DC Talks, a Christian rap and rock trio that released five major studio albums together. Five months after Tait abruptly left the band, The Roys Report published ayears-long investigationinto Tait's past, specifically allegations of unwanted sexual advances made by three male fans, who met the former frontman while on tour. Three men, who were all 22 at the time of their encounters, told the outlet that Tait befriended them and were either intoxicated or drugged when the vocalist initiated and performed non-consensual sexual acts on them. Tait made friends with the men, one crew member and two musicians, while on tour in 2004, 2010 and 2014, according to The Roys Report. Additional individuals, including one woman and four men, have come forward to share their stories about Tait, who they allege engaged in predatory behavior, or bared witness to it without intervening. The woman who spoke with Roys Report specifically claimed that Tait drugged her and watched her be sexually assaulted by a Newsboys crew member, while the four men who spoke toThe Guardiansaid that Tait had either attempted, or had engaged in unwanted touching, sexual advances or both. The new set of allegations, published inThe Guardian on June 13and inThe Roys Report on June 19came a week after Newsboys and Tait himself addressed the contents included in the first report on social media. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Yusei Kikuchi struck out a season-high 12 in seven innings, Jo Adell and Travis d'Arnaud hit solo homers and RBI singles, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 5-2 Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep. Kikuchi (3-6) allowed up two hits, walked one and threw 31 pitches in a shaky first inning when the Red Sox took advantage of shortstop Scott Kingery's fielding error and scored two unearned runs on Trevor Story's two-out, single with the bases loaded. The 34-year-old Japanese left-hander recovered and limited Boston to one hit with no walks over the next six innings. Kikuchi struck out the side in the second and fifth innings and retired the Red Sox in order in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings. Kikuchi induced 20 swinging strikes and threw 74 pitches over the final six innings. Ryan Zeferjahn worked a scoreless eighth and ninth for his second save as the Angels (40-40) reached .500 for the first time since May 23. Adell and d'Arnaud homered off Red Sox starter Richard Fitts on consecutive pitches in the fourth for a 2-all tie. Adell's 433-foot shot was his 17th homer of the season and 10th in June. Boston reliever Luis Guerrero (0-1) issued a leadoff walk to Nolan Schanuel and a one-out walk to Mike Trout in the fifth. The right-hander struck out Taylor Ward with a 97-mph fastball before allowing consecutive two-out RBI singles to Adell and d'Arnaud, giving the Angels a 4-2 lead. The Angels pushed the lead to 5-2 in the sixth on singles by Luis Rengifo and Kingery. Trout followed with an RBI single with two outs off reliever Zack Kelly. Key moment Boston had a chance to extend its lead in the first, but Kikuchi got Ceddanne Rafaela to ground out to second with runners on second and third, ending the inning. Kikuchi then retired 18 of the next 19 batters he faced. Key stat The Angels have used five starting pitchers — Kikuchi, Jose Soriano, Tyler Anderson, Kyle Hendricks and Jack Kochaanowicz — through 80 games, matching a franchise record set in 1999 for most games to begin a season using no more than five starters. Up next Angels RHP Jose Soriano (5-5, 3.39 ERA) will oppose Washington RHP Jake Irvin (6-3, 4.18) in Anaheim on Friday. Mermaid Performer Goes Viral for Doing Entire Underwater Routine Without Ever Coming Up for Air (Exclusive)New Foto - Mermaid Performer Goes Viral for Doing Entire Underwater Routine Without Ever Coming Up for Air (Exclusive)

Finnick; Henry Tung Silvia Solymosyová took her first baby swimming course between 4 and 6 months old and started taking dance lessons at 11 After realizing traditional dance wasn't quite the right fit for her, she deciding she preferrred "dancing in the water" Now her underwater dancing videos have gone viral online When Silvia Solymosyová took her first baby swimming course between 4 and 6 months old, she instantly fell in love with the water. By the age of 5 or 6, Solymosyová — who grew up in Bernolákovo, Slovakia — was already swimming standard strokes on her own without any assistance. Around the same time, she began taking dance lessons and, by 11, enrolled in an eight-year dance conservatory. But during her time there, she came to a realization: traditional dance wasn't quite the right fit for her. "I'm unique, and I prefer dancing in the water," she recalls thinking. And with that, her passion for underwater dancing was born. Today, at 22, she lives in Guangzhou, China, where she performs at the Grandview Aquarium — which she says is known for having one of the best underwater shows. Each performance features a unique theme and story. She's also competed internationally, including placing ninth and 10th in the mixed duet finals at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. That same year, she won with her brother Jozef two bronze medals at the European Championships in Rome, Italy, making history for Slovakia in artistic swimming. "I don't just perform as a mermaid," she tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I also portray a snake, a butterfly, a ballerina — even a witch during Halloween. It's different from watching me on social media, because here, people can see me perform live, in person." When asked about her creative process, Solymosyová says choreographing an underwater routine is similar to creating an artistic swimming performance. "Sometimes I have an idea for a stylistic move, or I'm inspired by a piece of music," she explains. "I know what I want to express, and then I figure out how to bring it to life underwater. I try different movements, choose the best ones, and piece them together." But performing underwater poses some unique challenges — especially when it comes to breathing. "When you're dancing underwater, you have to hold your breath unless you're using scuba gear," she says. "If the routine is too long for one breath, I keep practicing until I can perform it from start to finish." Never miss a story — sign up forPEOPLE's free daily newsletterto stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Solymosyová says she's lucky she's been practicing breath-holding since the age of 5, thanks to her background in artistic swimming. But she points out a key difference between the two disciplines. "In artistic swimming, we hold our breath with full lungs after inhaling. In underwater dancing, unless you're using weights, it's usually done after exhaling most of the air from your lungs. That's a big difference," she explains. "Some dances push me to the edge of my limits, but I always have someone nearby to assist if needed — so I never fear drowning." She adds, "I think what surprises people most is learning that I often dance on empty lungs — holding my breath after exhaling." Finnick In the lead-up to a performance, Solymosyová goes through a detailed prep routine. Physically, she warms up and conditions her body — including her heart, lungs, brain, joints and muscles — for the demands of dancing underwater. This involves stretching, breath-control exercises and rehearsing choreography both on land and in water. She also takes care of the technical side: charging power banks, phones, camera batteries and lights if needed; clearing memory cards or phone storage; and packing essentials like makeup, costumes and props. "When I first started underwater dancing, I usually wore one-piece swimsuits because I often stayed after practice to film," she says. "Many pools only allow swimsuits, so you don't have much choice — just pick a color." "If I can wear whatever I want, I go for vibrant colors and tight-fitting clothes," she adds. "Long dresses or skirts are difficult to dance in, but they look great for underwater photography. For photos, you only need to hold a pose or perform one move, so it's easier. Wearing caps or hats is tricky, especially when doing upside-down moves." Since December 2019, Solymosyová has also been sharing her underwater dances on social media, where she's built a following of over 1.5 million onTikTokand nearly 170,000 onInstagram. To film her content, she uses a waterproof camera mounted on a selfie stick or tripod. Occasionally, she uses her phone in a waterproof case, and sometimes sets up extra underwater lights to improve visibility. She's thankful for how far underwater camera tech has come. "A few times the camera or phone slipped and sank to the bottom of the pool," she recalls. "One scary moment was when someone jumped into the water without looking, and I was directly beneath them."
