The right-leaning cable network's senior White House correspondent and the Pennsylvania congressman's engagement wasannounced exclusively by People magazine July 8. The 51-year-old Republican popped the question in a stunning lavender field in Provence in the South of France. He asked Heinrich, 36, to tie the knot with a ring chosen from her long-running family jeweler in Portland, Maine, according to the magazine. Heinrich, who does not directly cover Congress in her position reporting on the presidency, is often seen on camera in the White House press briefing room. Shetold the Boston Globe last year, "I've always dreamed of eating my way through the French Riviera and Provence, with sun-drenched days at the lavender fields punctuated by crisp wines and salty butter." Fox News' Kat Timpf received breastcancer diagnosis, had her first baby hours later So, Heinrich told People that Fitzpatrick planned a trip to her dream destination to propose: "He said, 'I'm going to take you this summer to the South of France.'" All I want is to see the lavender fields at sunrise,'" she told People, jokingly adding that "all the time I've known this man, he has never been desperate to see a field of flowers at dawn. So, I had a feeling that (a proposal) was the goal." "It's really beautiful," Heinrich added. "Brian did such an amazing job. I'm so impressed with him." To celebrate the engagement, the couple waited for coffee shop to open up and drank espresso together. They celebrated for less than 48 hours in France before Fitzpatrick had to head back to Washington, D.C. for work duties. Three-time NBA MVPNikola Jokićhas decided to delay a contract extension with theDenver Nuggetsthis summer, a person with knowledge of the matter told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because neither Jokić nor the Nuggets have addressed the matter publicly. It doesn't affect Jokić's status in Denver in the short term: He has at least two years remaining on his deal – $55.2 million this season and $59 million in 2026-27, along with a player option in 2027-28 worth nearly $63 million. Jokić became eligible Tuesday to sign an extension that could have added three years and around $212 million to his contract. By waiting until next summer to sign, Jokić would be eligible to add four years to his deal at even more money than this summer's extension would have guaranteed. The Denver Postfirst reported the decisionfrom Jokić. Josh Kroenke, the vice chairman of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, explained earlier this offseason the team was going to present both options to Jokić – and respect his decision. "I'm not sure if he's going to accept it or not because we're also going to explain every financial parameter around him signing now versus signing later," Kroenke said. The 30-year-old from Serbia is coming off a historic season in which he became the first NBA center to average a triple-double – 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, 10.2 assists – and finishedrunner-up to Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the MVP voting. The only other players who averaged a triple-double are Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson. It was a trying season for Jokić and the Nuggets in whichcoach Michael Maloneand general manager Calvin Booth were fired with three games remaining in the regular season. Jokić and the Nuggets went 3-0 to close out the season, beat the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games during the first round of the playoffs and took theeventual NBA champion Thunderto seven games in Western Conference semifinals before being eliminated. Jokić averaged 26.2 points and 12.7 rebounds in the postseason run. In addition, he became the fastest player in NBA history (739 games) to notch 16,000 points, 8,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists. The previous mark was held by Hall of Famer Larry Bird, who reached those numbers in 799 games. A second-round pick by Denver in 2014, Jokić has blossomed into a five-time All-NBA first-team player. He led the Nuggets to theirfirst title in 2023and earned the Finals MVP award. This season, he will have a new coach in David Adelman, who was hired on an interim basis when the Nuggets fired Malone and was promoted to the permanent job. There's a new front-office structure, too, led by executive vice presidents Ben Tenzer and Jonathan Wallace. They've vowed to be aggressive in building another title contender around Jokić in his championship window. The executive tandem made a splash by breaking up the core of Jokić, Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. by trading Porter and a first-round pick to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson. The team has also brought back Bruce Brown – an integral piece in their championship run – and added sharpshooting wing Tim Hardaway Jr. ESPN reported earlier this month the Nuggets sent Dario Šarić to the Sacramento Kings for Jonas Valančiūnas, a center who can back up Jokić. The death toll rose to at least 110, including at least 27 children and counselors from the belovedCamp Mysticin Kerr County, where flooding hit the hardest beginning July 4. Bush Hager explained her connection to the nearly 100-year-old nondenominational Christian camp for girls. She told guest co-hostDwayne Wadethat her mom, former first ladyLaura Bush, was a counselor at Camp Mystic and that many of her friends attended the camp. "It is a place that raised so many girls to become women, and it was almost like a spiritual, beautiful place," she added. Jacob Misiorowski faced perhaps the stiffest test yet of his sensational rookie campaign Tuesday against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. He passed, with honors. Misiorowski allowed a leadoff home run to Shohei Ohtani on the third pitch of the game. From there, he struck out 12 and didn't allow another run to power the Brewers toa 3-1 win. It added up to another sensational outing from the hard-throwing right-hander, who outdueled Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw to pick up the win. Los Angeles hitters posted a season-high 15 strikeouts for the game as the Dodgers lost their fifth straight and their second straight to the Brewers. They remain in control of the NL West with a 56-37 record. The Brewers improved to 52-40 to move within three games of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Misiorowski showcased his heat with 21 fastballs that hit 100-plus mph on the radar gun. He balanced it with a sweeping slider and a diving curveball that repeatedly baffled the Dodgers. When he got into his only jam of the night, he got an assist from a stellar Brewers defense and unleashed a celebratory fist pump when the inning was done. "You're facing the Dodgers. It's just a wave of emotions to finally do what you were dreaming of doing." Misiorowski's night got off to an inauspicious start. He put Ohtani in an 0-2 hole to lead off the game. But he left a third-pitch curveball over the inside of the plate that Ohtani launched over the centerfield wall for his NL-best 31st home run of the season. It threatened to be a real welcome-to-the-big leagues moment from the three-time MVP in the fifth start of Misiorowski's MLB career. But Misiorowski didn't rattle. The 23-year-old proceeded to strikeout 10 of the next 13 batters he faced without issuing a walk. He was one pitch away from an immaculate inning in the second after striking out Michael Conforto and Hyeseong Kim on six pitches. He ended up allowing a single to Dalton Rushing, but ended the inning with no damage thanks to a strikeout of James Outman. His second time through the Dodgers order went better than his first. He struck out Ohtani with a 2-2 curveball in the third inning before ending the inning with a swinging strike three of Freddie Freeman to keep the Brewers within 1-0. He recorded two more strikeouts in the fourth before Brewers bats finally got to Kershaw with two runs in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 Milwaukee lead. Misiorowski added two more strikeouts in the fifth inning, including a four-pitch effort that got Outman swinging on a 99 mph fastball on the outside corner. Third baseman Andruw Monasterio made the heads-up play to throw for home, and Ohtani never stood a chance. He was tagged out for the second out of the inning on a perfect throw. And he picked up a win against a future Hall of Famer in Kershaw who was fresh offrecording the 3,000th strikeout of his career. In a rookie campaign already featuring multiple standout efforts, Tuesday's against the Dodgers may be Misiorowski's best yet.
