Spoiler alert! The following story contains major details about the ending of "The Idea of Glue," the 10th episode of Netflix series "Too Much" (now streaming). There are few things more heart-wrenching than a well-placedTaylor Swiftneedle drop. In the season finale of Netflix's "Too Much" (now streaming), creatorLena Dunhammasterfully deploys "Bigger Than the Whole Sky," a bonus track off Swift's Grammy-winning best album "Midnights." The elegiac ballad, released in 2022, comes at a moment of release for Jessica (Megan Stalter), who had just broken up with her boyfriend, Felix (Will Sharpe), when her dog unexpectedly died. While crying on the couch, she receives a text asking to meet up with Wendy (Emily Ratajkowski), who started dating her ex-boyfriend Zev (Michael Zegen) before Jessica moved to London. After despising and envying his seemingly perfect new partner from afar, their coffee date is a chance for Jessica to reconcile with the fact that Wendy was never the bad guy after all. And in a tear-jerking sequence set to Swift's song, Jessica walks backward into her old New York apartment – saying goodbye to Zev, before she leaves him behind and strolls forward onto the sidewalk. 'Too Much':How Lena Dunham made the year's most devastating episode of TV "Bigger Than the Whole Sky" is achingly apropos for Jessica as she closes that chapter of her life, with its bittersweet lyrics about grief and the pain of moving on. ("I've got a lot to live without / I'm never gonna meet / What could've been, would've been / What should've been you.") Swift is a longtime friend of Dunham, although it's the first time that the "Girls" writer has included her music in one of her projects. "I'm always listening to her when I write – I mean, like 99.9% of America, I'm just always listening to her," Dunham says. "Originally, that was actually a different song and it was something that had been used in another film fairly recently. She watched the sequence and so did her brother, Austin, who is amazing and does all of her music placement. So she said, 'Actually, I think I know what should be here.'" Dunham thought she'd have to re-edit the sequence to fit Swift's song, but to her surprise, "we did not have to move a frame," Dunham continues. "That song just said everything that had to be said about their relationship, about her relationship to her dog – I mean, it's one of my absolute favorite moments in the show, and one of my absolute favorite moments I've ever had the chance to film. It's my first time actually getting to use a T.S. song in my work, and besides the amazing music that my husband put together for the show, it's everything I could've dreamed of. I couldn't feel luckier that she let us use it." In classic rom-com fashion, Jessica and Felix eventually make up and get married at episode's end. For viewers who have had longterm relationships, Dunham hopes they appreciate the complexities of both characters, who wrestle with personal demons but still find their ways back to each other. "I've had a couple of twentysomethings watch (the show) and they're really sweet about it, like, 'It's funny!'" Dunham says. "But there's something when I talk to people who are in their 30s; they just get it in a different way. It's about that moment where you go from living your life for the crazy story to being like, 'I don't want to be a person who moves through the world alone. How can I find that connection?' So it's interesting to see how my friends who have gotten to that point are able to understand the love story in a different way." Review:Lena Dunham's 'Too Much' is actually just enough The series is loosely inspired by the real-life love story between Dunham, 39, and Luis Felber, 39, a British musician whom she married in 2021. (Somewhat notably, "Bigger Than the Whole Sky" was co-produced by Jack Antonoff, whom Dunham dated for five years.) Felber co-created "Too Much" with his wife and was instrumental in helping bring Felix to life on screen. "I love writing men, but at the end of the day, I haven't had a chance to be one in this lifetime," Dunham says. "Patriarchy hurts everyone; men, too. So what does it look like for a guy who is tender and complicated and has made mistakes to try and put some of that behind him? Between my husband and Will, who himself is such an amazing writer and director, I felt like Felix was the most fully embodied man I've ever gotten the chance to create." Additionally, "Lu is a native Londoner, so he was also there to make sure we were showing a version of London that was different than the kinds we've seen in other romantic comedies," Dunham says. "We were seeing some spaces that weren't just Notting Hill; whether it's about Jessica living in East London, or Felix making music in Camberwell, or going to the outskirts of the M25 to see his parents. There was a truth and authenticity, and I hope Londoners will recognize there was a lot of love put into it." Backstreet Boys take the Sphere out of this world at Vegas kickoff concert: ReviewNew Foto - Backstreet Boys take the Sphere out of this world at Vegas kickoff concert: Review

LAS VEGAS – "Sometimes I wish I could turn back time, impossible as it may seem," theBackstreet Boyscrooned on their 1997 smash "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)." At theirSphere residency, which kicked off its21-date runJuly 11 at the visual playground in Las Vegas, the quintet absolutely reveled in nostalgia, turning back time for a sold-out crowd that proudly rockedBackstreet BoysT-shirts or all-white outfits in a nod to the "Millennium" album cover. The sight of Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean caused a level of ear-splitting adoration that has been trailing the guys for 30 years. But, as with every live performanceat the Sphere, this was more than a mere concert, it was a thrill ride, and the vibrating haptic seats and nonstop visuals elicited shrieks in their own right. More:Backstreet Boys setlist: All the blissful pop songs from Sphere Las Vegas residency The nearly two-hour joyride came with a futuristic spaceship theme – a nod to their bazillion-selling "Millennium" album, the celebratory theme of these Vegas shows – from the moment the fivesome launched from below the stage for the wonky pop-funk of "Larger Than Life." From there, this mission control was set to stun –as in stunning– for a romp through pristinely sung ballads overflowing with yearning (Carter and Littrell can still sell an emotion with clenched eyes and balled fists) and gleaming pop anthems buffed to a melodic sheen. As challenging as it can be to appreciate the artists as much as the visual elements at the Sphere, the Backstreet Boys kept fans' enraptured with a set design that maximized fan interaction. A pair of catwalks jutted from the oval stage, allowing the guys to roam into the crowd while hitting their dance moves. "We are full of gratitude tonight," said Richardson, who pulled his shoulder-length cascade of hair into a man bun during the show. "I've cried at least four times tonight already," added McLean, his tough guy exterior counterbalanced with a pink knit cap and blue painted nails. Those emotions were evident in Richardson and Littrell during"The Perfect Fan,"an ode to moms and family bonds, as childhood photos of the guys caused Richardson to choke up at the opening lyrics and Littrell to pinch the bridge of his nose to prevent tears. The joy emanating from the largely millennial devotees was palpable, from the white clothing blanketing the stands to the breathless commentary throughout the concert. "I can't breathe!" shrieked one woman at the opening of "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely," while "No One Else Comes Close," a silky early-career ballad that teeters on its tenuous sexuality, prompted commentary usually heard at Chippendales. And, let's face it, the Backstreet Boys were – and still are – masters of perfectly harmonized bridges ("I Want It That Way") and glorious key changes (the underappreciated "Shape of My Heart"). While theSphere setlistaimed to appease every level of fan – "Hey" from "Millennium 2.0" and the deep album track "Siberia" from 2005's "Never Gone" being the two mavericks of the bunch – the adrenaline of the final batch of songs would enthrall even the snarkiest music purists. "I Want It That Way" marked the first time a Sphere concert has involved a moving apparatus. The guys stood atop a platform that rose astoundingly high (seriously, who could blame Littrell for leaning against a metal bar anchored in front of him?) during the finger-snapping pop behemoth while lasers zigzagged around them. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sphere (@spherevegas) They remained aloft for "Get Down (You're The One for Me")" in a recreation of the song's 1996 video, including a massive mirror ball and hundreds of video squares that stacked to the top of the venue. The Backstreet Boys own the distinction as the first pop act toplay the Sphere, which has hosted U2, the Eagles, Dead & Company, Phish and Kenny Chesney. That their popularity has barely waned in nearly 30 years is commendable. But this new triumph is proof that what might feel like a fad in the moment can become a legacy. Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer hopes performance against the A's is just the beginningNew Foto - Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer hopes performance against the A's is just the beginning

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Max Scherzer, for one night at least, offered a throwback performance. He stifled Athletics hitters for five innings on Friday night before finally running into some trouble in the sixth, but even then he limited the damage before exiting in a7-6 Toronto victory. Scherzer (1-0) finished with eight strikeouts while allowing five hits. "He was dominating areas up and down and out," Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. "He is who he is for a reason." Scherzer claimed his first victory since July 25 last year when he pitched for Texas and the Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1. Injuries didn't help. The three-time Cy Young Award winner opened last season on the injured list after undergoing back surgery. Then shortly after recording that victory against the White Sox, he spent more than a month on the IL because of shoulder fatigue. Scherzersigned a $15.5 million, one-year contractwith the Blue Jays in the offseason, but again experienced health issues. He went on this 60-day ILbecause of an injured thumb. "My body's good," Scherzer said. "As long as my thumb is healthy, I can be myself. I can pitch like this. It's all about my thumb." This was his fourth start since rejoining the rotation, and Scherzer made the most of it. He struck out five consecutive batters at one point and shut out the A's over five innings, allowing just singles to Nick Kurtz and Tyler Soderstrom. The A's began to get to Scherzer in the sixth, with Kurtz hitting a two-run home run and Soderstrom getting a solo shot. Those homers cut the Blue Jays' lead to 7-3, but Scherzer induced a flyout to Miguel Andujar to end the threat. "It's my first time at 90 pitches, lengthening my arm out for the first time to the sixth inning this year," Scherzer said. "Get acclimated to that pitch count and hopefully get rolling. I'm happy about this, especially when we win. When I get my chance after the (All-Star) break, keep this going." Schneider said he thought the break came at a good time for the 40-year-old Scherzer. "Hopefully, he can build off of this and get him out there pretty regularly," Schneider said. "I think reshuffling the rotation if we can to give him a little more rest would be great. I'll take him on the mound any day of the week." __ AP MLB:https://apnews.com/hub/mlb
