Swiatek, the No. 4 player in the world, shut out American Amanda Anisimova in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 in thewomen's singles finalsat the 2025 Wimbledon Championship on July 12. It was her sixth straight-sets victory atthe All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Clubin the last two weeks. Swiatek's big day on the grass court surface turned out to be a historic one for the Polish women's tennis player, who took social media by storm this past week with her favorite meal:strawberries and pasta. The 24-year-old, who has now won six Grand Slam majors, won her first Wimbledon title in timely record fashion: seventh-fastest of the Open era, at 57 minutes. That wasn't the only history made by Swiatek. Her double bagel win over Anisimova also marked just the second ever such score for a women's singles final at Wimbledon — and the first since 1911. It was also the first double bagel in a Grand Slam women's singles final since the 1988 French Open. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted a difference in Ohtani's mindset when he's on the mound. "You can just see it. ... that different demeanor that he carries on days that he pitches," Roberts said. "He really is very smart as far as being astute and knowing where we're at and knowing that this is an important win for us, an important day. He brought that intensity today. It's not overt but you can feel it." Ohtani threw 19 pitches that were at least 97 mph. "Aside from the stuff, I'm more happy with the command of my pitches and being able to attack the zone," Ohtani said. "Today was one of those days where my fastball felt pretty good, so I leaned on it a little bit more today." Will the PGA and LIV Golf ever reunite? Some news released by the Official World Golf Ranking board of directors on Friday makes that result look a little less likely, at least in the near term. According to Trevor Immelman, chairman of the OWGR, the organization is currently reviewing LIV Golf's application for inclusion in those rankings, the submission dated June 30. "The OWGR Board is committed to a thorough evaluation process of all applications, and LIV's application will be reviewed in accordance with OWGR's criteria to ensure fairness, integrity and consistency," Immelman said. "We appreciate the interest of LIV Golf -- and all Tours -- in contributing to the global landscape of men's professional golf through OWGR. Further updates will be provided as the review progresses." LIV CEO Scott O'Neil released a statement in response, thanking the OWGR for its consideration in moving "the sport of golf forward." "We thank OWGR Chairman Trevor Immelman for his continued leadership and willingness to move the sport of golf forward for the benefit of all players and most importantly, the fans," O'Neil's statement read. "LIV Golf is committed to working together with the Official World Golf Ranking and its board to ensure the very best players are competing in the game's most prestigious events. We are confident our application addresses the outstanding questions that exist to support a more global, all-encompassing, and accurate ranking system. "We are hopeful the review and approval process can progress ahead of the 2026 major season." LIV originally applied for accreditation in July of 2022, shortly after the league launched. That request was denied, and LIV golfers can currently only earn ranking points by competing in major championships and international tour events.
