The Indiana Fever announced Caitlin Clark will not participate in the WNBA All-Star Game or the3-point competitionafter injuring her right groin in the Fever's win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. The2025 WNBA All-Star gamewill be held in Indianapolis for the first time in league history, withClark,Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell selected to represent theIndiana Fever, tying theSeattle Stormfor the most All-Star representatives this year. The untimely injury, however, has thrown a wrench into things. "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body." Clark said. "I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy (Liberty coach Brondello) coach our team to a win." Fever head coach Stephanie White said "Caitlin and her team" ultimately made the decision to prioritize her long-term health after missing 11 total games with various injuries, including a left groin injury and left quad strain. Clark was set to be the centerpiece of the All-Star weekend in Indianapolis. She was named a captain after receiving the most fan votes and drafted teammates Boston (starter) and Mitchell (reserve) to her team. Clark said they planned on making this "the best All-Star that the WNBA has ever had," but she will now be cheering on her team from the sidelines as they faceTeam Naphessa Collier. WNBA ALL-STAR GAME PLAYERS:Full rosters for Team Clark and Team Collier "It's a big deal for us to have All-Star in Indianapolis, of course with Caitlin being a focal point of all that," White said on Thursday. "As the coach of the Indiana Fever, it's not a bigger deal than our long-term season." Clark appeared to injure her groin in the final minute of the Fever's 85-77 win over the Sun on Tuesday in Boston. After a bounce pass to Kelsey Mitchell for a layup with 39.1 seconds remaining, Clark held the inside of her right thigh before walking over and banging her head against the stanchion in apparent frustration. Clark walked to the Fever bench, where she put a towel over her head. White confirmed Clark "felt a little something in her groin." She was subsequentlyruled out of the Fever's road matchup against the New York Libertyon Wednesday. "The most important thing for us is to keep her upbeat, continue to support her and let her know we got her back and let her know we're going to go battle for her," White said. "Being injured and continuing to have setbacks is frustrating. Mentally, emotionally." WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert selected replacements for Clark and Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally (ankle) on Thursday, July 17. Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes and Atlanta Dream forward Brionna Jones were added to the Team Clark roster. Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride was added as a replacement for the Dream's Rhyne Howard earlier this week. Howard, who was selected to Team Collier, suffered a left knee injury during the Dream's July 11 game against the Fever. The Dream have since confirmed that she will be sidelined through the remainder of July. Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios: Who has edge, from boxer who fought bothNew Foto - Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios: Who has edge, from boxer who fought both

Keith Thurman, the former welterweight world champion boxer, earned unique insight into the welterweight matchup betweenManny Pacquiaoand Mario Barrios set for Saturday, July 19. He did it by getting in the ring with both men. Thurman went 12 rounds with Pacquiao in 2019 and suffered a split-decision loss. He went 12 rounds with Barrios in 2022 and won by unanimous decision. But the only man who knocked him down was Pacquiao, who dropped Thurman in the first round. So, of course, that's his pick to win the fight, right? Well, not quite. During an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Thurman addressed several scenarios as Pacquiao returns to the ring at 46 and the 30-year-old Barrios defends his WBC welterweight world title. Pacquiao has won world titles at eight divisions. With a victory against Barrios Saturday in Las Vegas, he would become the first boxer to win a world title after being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. "A big question mark is (whether) Pacquiao is still capable of such feats,'' Thurman said. Boxing News:Manny Pacquiao training includes stop at Raiders facility While Thurman said he doesn't know how being 46 will affect Pacquiao in the ring, he seized on something else he said could make a big difference – size. Barrios is 6-0, 6 ½ inches taller than the 5-5 ½ Pacquiao. In addition to being taller, Barrios is also the bigger fighter, according to Thurman. "He's got a really big size for a lightweight that moved up to welterweight because of his height and his reach,'' Thurman said of Barrios. "And Manny Pacquiao is not one whose body size is an advantage at welterweight either. "His major advantage throughout his career was his speed and his agility and a lot of the awkward angles that he is used throughout his career and really just his expertise.'' In his last fight, Pacquiao lost to 5-9 Yordenis Ugas by unanimous decision after Ugas made good use of his reach advantage. Barrios is three inches taller than Ugas, and Thurman recommends a similar strategy for Barrios. "Keeping your distance boxing on the outside the way that the Cubans normally do, not taking chances and Pac just having to try to make up that gap and work his legs after a layoff,'' Thurman said. "His legs were not really there. That's my concern (for Pacquiao). "I think Manny Pacquiao would win via some kind of TKO. He would have to create a knockdown and then take the momentum of the knockdown and finish the fight. And the reason why I see this potentially happening is because Mario Barrios does not have the most sophisticated defense. That's the only downplay. I think that's the road to victory for Manny Pacquiao is the lack of the defense from Mario Barrios.'' Boxing picks:Pacquiao vs. Barrios, Usyk vs. Dubois expert predictions for packed fight weekend Against Barrios, Thurman said he had success when he threw a pump fake to work his way in. "Then boom, boom, throw a few creative combos and it was easy to land on Mario Barrios,'' he said. "And the one thing Manny Pac's notorious for is creative combos. So that's the major coin toss to me is Mario Barrios, his defense.'' While Pacquiao might be slower, Thurman said he expects the aging boxer to be powerful. "If he gets lucky, the power shot might be there, and with his craftiness and his knowledge of being in the ring, he might be able to do something,'' Thurman said. "And if he does, it's not a big surprise for me because that's what world-class, elite, legendary fighters are potentially capable of.'' For Barrios, Thurman said he does not recommend rolling with the punches. "His team needs to have a game plan,'' Thurman said. "I think it's very essential at this level sometimes when you're going up against just competition in general. "Because Mario Barrios is the younger guy and because Ugas was able to keep (Pacquiao) on the outside…make him use those legs. Make him prove to us that those legs are still as explosive.'' Pacquiao's bulging calves once functioned like pistons. But the strength and stamina of Pacquiao's legs remain an unknown, given he's been out of the ring for almost four years. "So make him use those legs,'' Thurman said. "Don't just stand there. Work behind your jab. Mario Barrios is a long fighter and one of the things that I complimented him post-fight was, out of all the champions I've ever faced, I was really surprised that Mario Barrios had one of the best jabs that I've ever been in the ring with.'' Legendary classic rock wife and musePattie Boydshared a never before seen photo of herself and ex-husbandGeorge Harrisonto celebrate the anniversary of the premiere of theBeatlesfilmYellow Submarine. "July 17. On this day in 1968 we attended the premiere of 'Yellow Submarine' in London," Boyd, 81,captioned the photoof herself and her then-husband costumed for the event. "It was chaos! I remember the streets around the theatre were closed-off because of the crowds. I wore some yellow as did George, Ringo & Twiggy and some others." Boyd and Harrison, who died of lung cancer in November 2001, donned adorable yellow and purple matching outfits. For his part, the guitarist wore a yellow blazer and bucket hat with a purple shirt underneath and Boyd rocked a yellow feathered top and a purple headband. The image appeared to be one taken on an iPhone of a personal photograph, presumably from Boyd's own collection. The model first met the Beatles member back when she was cast as an extra in the 1964 filmA Hard Day's Night, which ended up giving her the opportunity to perform in a featured scene with the band. After connecting on that shoot, the pair began to date. After a few years, they wed in 1966 — but their marriage only lasted eleven years. Boyd and Harrison's close friendEric Claptonbecame romantically involved and it caused the split between her and Harrison. They divorced in 1977 and she went on to marry Clapton, 80, in 1979 — but they, too, only lasted a decade and divorced in 1989. In her time with both men, she is said to have been the inspiration for several major hits for both of her exes, including "Something" by The Beatles and "Layla" by Clapton's groupDerek and the Dominos. 2025 British Open: There's a Buddhist monk at the top of the leaderboardNew Foto - 2025 British Open: There's a Buddhist monk at the top of the leaderboard

For some, golf is a path to spiritual enlightenment. For Sadom Kaewkanjana, spiritual enlightenment is a path to golf. Kaewkanjana, of Thailand, isn't just an accomplished professional golfer; he's an ordained Buddhist monk. And after one round of the 2025 British Open at Royal Portrush, he's one stroke off the clubhouse lead at 3-under. "Honestly, I play in my country, have no like links course before," he said after his round. "So when I play links course, it's a new experience for me. I really enjoy to play a links course. It's fun to play with a windy course and tough conditions. So very enjoy to play on a links course." A three-time winner on the Asian Tour, Kaewkanjana missed the cut in the two PGA Championships he's played, and finished at T11 in the 2022 British. After that major, he stepped away from the game "I was ordained because I wanted to return the greatest merit and repay my parents," hesaid at the time. "I was cut off from the rest of the world when I was ordained," he added. "That made me feel more calm. I was able to concentrate more, which will help me improve my game of golf." He qualified for this year's Open by winning the Kolon Korea Open on the Asian Tour, and after his round, he discussed how his new calling has helped him prepare for these tournaments. "It's a new experience being a monk," he said. "They help like more concentrate on the golf course or outside the golf course. It's made me a lot of focus. Forget everything outside, just live in the present. So I really enjoy being a monk." "Forget everything outside, just live in the present" is pretty much the most perfect advice possible for playing golf, but especially in a tournament of rain and wind like the Open. Kaewkanjana's round included two birdies and an eagle against just one bogey. While the calm and serenity that comes from his ordination has helped him get to this point, the 27-year-old Kaewkanjana has some higher ambitions. "My goal is like I want to play in the Masters my whole life," he said. "I want to play one time. So to get in the world ranking into the top 50, that's my goal." Calm, serenity ... and a tee time at Augusta National. That's the secret to a full life right there.

Fox Sports teams up with Barstool Sports, including appearances on 'Big Noon Kickoff'New Foto - Fox Sports teams up with Barstool Sports, including appearances on 'Big Noon Kickoff'

Fox Sports is joining forces with Barstool Sports. Barstool Sports' programming will appear on Fox Sports 1 while founder Dave Portnoy will appear on Fox Sports "Big Noon Kickoff" college football show. The partnership was announced Thursday afternoon. "(Barstool owner and founder) Dave (Portnoy) has built a one-of-a-kind brand that connects with a new generation of sports fans — authentic, bold, and original. Their unique voice and loyal fanbase makes them a natural fit for our evolving multiplatform content strategy," Fox Sports CEO and executive producer Eric Shanks said in a statement. Portnoy graduated from Michigan, which could lead to some interesting interactions with former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. "Nobody has been there to defend the Kings of the Conference. That ends today," Portnoy said in avideo posted to Twitter/X. "Big Noon Kickoff" will begin the season in Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 29 when defending national champion Ohio State hosts Texas. The show also features host Rob Stone and analysts Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, Mark Ingram and Chris "The Bear" Fallica. The "Barstool College Football Show" — which will air on Saturday's from 9-9:45 a.m. — will also be streamed across Fox's digital platforms, including Tubi. Other Barstool personalities will also make appearances on "Big Noon Kickoff," including Dan "Big Cat" Katz. Barstool will also contribute to Fox's college basketball coverage and possibly horse racing. Barstool will have a live two-hour weekday morning show on FS1 with the launch date to be announced later. FS1 has a need for studio programming after cancelling three shows earlier this week. "In our two-decade history, we've never had the chance to work with so much talent and resources. We can't wait to collab and bring our voice to FOX Sports' airwaves," Portnoy said in a statement. Barstool's addition gives Fox Sports what it hopes will be its answer to Pat McAfee as well as possible inroads with the age 18-34 demographic. Barstool previously had a relationship with ESPN, but its program was canceled after one episode in 2017 after the network received criticism both inside and outside the company. Portnoy founded Barstool in 2004 but Penn Gaming acquired majority stake in 2023 after being an investor since 2020. Portnoy bought Barstool back later that year for $1 after Penn Gaming rebranded Barstool Sportsbook as ESPN Bet. ___ AP sports:https://apnews.com/sports

TheLos Angeles Chargersofficiallyplaced the running back on the active/non-football injury (NFI) list on July 17after a fireworks incident left Harris with a superficial eye injury during the early morning hours on July 5. It's not expected that Harris will be on the list for long, according to Chargers general manager, Joe Hortiz. "Nothing is set in stone,"Hortiz told reporters Wednesday. Hortiz added that Harris remains in good spirits and noted that the information relayed to the team has been positive. "We haven't seen him yet, our doctors haven't seen him yet," Hortiz said Wednesday. "He's finishing up his doctors appointments, he'll report today. We'll get our eyes on him. "Surface-level injury, obviously around the eye, so I'm sure there's bruising and all that. But we haven't seen him," Hortiz continued. "We'll get more clarity when he gets here and our doctors see him, but we're in communication with the doctors there." Harris was continuing to see doctors at Stanford Hospital – where he received treatment following the incident. Hortiz said that the Chargers director of player health and performance, Marco Zucconi, has been in contract with the running back and his doctors. Doug Hendrickson, Harris' agent, revealed the injury on July 10 in a statement, putting internet rumors to rest. "Najee Harris was present at a 4th of July event where a fireworks mishap resulted in injuries to several attendees,"Hendrickson said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. "Najee sustained a superficial eye injury during the incident, but is fully expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season." Once cleared by the team, Harris can come off the NFI list and begin practice. Veterans were schedule to report to Chargers training camp on July 16.
