New Bears coach Ben Johnson has 'lofty,' historic goals for QB Caleb Williams in their first season togetherNew Foto - New Bears coach Ben Johnson has 'lofty,' historic goals for QB Caleb Williams in their first season together

New Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has some extremely high goals for Caleb Williams this season, which would put the second-year quarterback in an elite group if he can pull it off. Johnson made it clear Tuesday, one day before the Bears officially open training camp, that he wants Williams to complete 70% of his passes this season. Williams echoed that sentiment later, and added that he wants to throw for 4,000 yards, too. Not only would that make him the first quarterback in Bears history to reach the 4,000-yard mark, but Williams would become just the 10th quarterback in NFL history to hit both of those marks. 9 players in NFL history have done this in a season. Brees (4x), Burrow (2x) Cousins, Carr, Watson, Rodgers, Goff, Geno and Mayfield.https://t.co/JdNJzJ81rR — Jonathan Jones (@jjones9)July 22, 2025 "We certainly have goals that we strive for. It's not a secret," Johnsonsaid. "I would love for him this season to complete 70% of his balls, so you would like to think that over the course of practice we're completing 70% or more, or that's hard to just magically arise in a game. "It's a lofty goal, but it's one we're going to strive for." [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Williams, who the Bears took with the No. 1 overall pick out of USC last year, threw for 3,541 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions as a rookie in Chicago. The Bears went just 5-12 under his watch, missed the playoffs for a fourth straight season and ended up firing head coach Matt Eberflus. That led to the Bears hiring Johnson, who was previously the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator. Williams completed just 62.5% of his passes last season, so that 70% mark Johnson set would be a significant increase. In fact, only four true starting quarterbacks who played the entire campaign last season completed 70% of their passes or better. Lions quarterback Jared Goff led the way with 72.4%. It would take a significant jump for Williams to pull that off, though it would undoubtedly both throw himself into the MVP conversation and mean that the Bears are among the best in the NFC if he can get it done. With Johnson now leading the way, and a very solid group around him, the goals in place for Williams aren't unobtainable by any means. He's very likely to make a significant improvement after his rookie season. Whether he can hit those admittedly lofty goals from Johnson, though, remains to be seen.

Blake Lively Subpoenas Her Online Critics — Is It Fact-Finding or Intimidation?New Foto - Blake Lively Subpoenas Her Online Critics — Is It Fact-Finding or Intimidation?

McKenzie Folks, a stay-at-home mom, has been posting on TikTok for about a year. For the past several months she has focused on the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni legal case, giving her opinions into a sequin-covered spatula that she uses as a microphone. On July 10, she received a notice from Google that Lively's attorneys had submitted a subpoena for heraccount information. At first, she thought it was a phishing scam. But it was real — Lively was seeking to prove that she was part of Baldoni's digital army. More from Variety Blake Lively Suffers Blow in 'Smear Campaign' Claim as Judge Dismisses Case Against Justin Baldoni's Social Media Guru Jed Wallace Blake Lively Wins Ruling That Her Deposition in Justin Baldoni Case Will Be Held on Her Turf Justin Baldoni Can Seek Messages Between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, Judge Rules "It's baffling," Folks says. "I never talked to anybody in the industry. I'm from Kansas." The Lively-Baldoni battle is a classic celebrity feud. But Lively is doing something new by trying to unmask her online detractors — whom she claims are doing Baldoni's bidding. Lively is suing in federal court, alleging that her "It Ends With Us" co-star unleashed an online smear campaign against her in retaliation for complaining about sexual harassment on set. Her lawsuit, which is scheduled to go to trial in March, alleges that the online campaign is ongoing. Lively's attorneys have also sent subpoenas to X and to individual critics of hers, including Andy Signore, Perez Hilton and Candace Owens. The case has echoes of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial of 2022, in which Heard faced a barrageof criticism online. Elaine Bredehoft, who represented Heard, argues that much of it was planted by Depp's team. (Depp's team has denied that.) "They basically annihilated her," Bredehoft says. "I think it's great that Blake Lively's legal team is trying to get in front of it. How else do you fight this?" But many of the targets of the Lively subpoenas argue that she has crossed the line and is trying to silence sincere criticism. "They're just offering their opinions like anyone else has the right to do," says attorney John Genga, who represents entertainment journalist Kjersti Flaa, who also got a Google notice. "We think it's invasive. It's designed to intimidate these people, many of whom don't have the means to fight it." A spokesperson for Lively says that subpoenas are an evidence-gathering tool, not an accusation of wrongdoing. "There is no silencing of content creators; they are obviously making their views known," the spokesperson said. "The subpoenas to social media companies are one piece of the puzzle to connect the evidentiary dots of a campaign that was designed to leave no fingerprints." The Google subpoenas seek account information for 16 YouTubers, including names, emails, IP addresses, physical addresses and bank account and credit card numbers. Some of the targeted accounts are anonymous, though many other creators post under their real names. Several of the creators toldVarietythat they are simply covering the legal filings, and have not been in touch with either side. "This case has escalated to being about so much more than it was originally," Flaa says. "Now it's about freedom of speech on the internet." Folks got interested in the case after reading the initial filings. She concluded that Lively's claims of harassment didn't stand up, and that Baldoni was being bullied by powerful celebrities — Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. "We root for the underdog," she says. Folks can't afford to hire a lawyer to fight the subpoena, so she wrote her own motion to quash. "I feel like I'm in 'The Twilight Zone,'" she says. "This is totally a scene out of a movie — some millionaire actress coming after someone. It's very daunting." Gregory Doll, a Los Angeles attorney who has been following the case, says it is "foolhardy" to go after creators. Many of them have already turned the subpoenas into content — using them to build up their followings and their authority on the case. "I think she is trying to kill a fly with a sledgehammer," Doll says. "It's an absolute PR backfire in a profound sense." If Lively is being targeted by a more sophisticated bot attack, it will be almost impossible to peel back the layers to discover who's behind it, he says. "I'm going to fight them tooth and nail," says Signore, who is producing a documentary on thecase. "This is nonsense." Legendary metal singer and frontman Ozzy Osbourne died Tuesday. He was 76. Osbourne leaves behind quite the legacy. After a successful (and, at times, controversial) music career both as a solo artist and as the frontman for Black Sabbath, Osbourne was introduced to an entirely new audience on the MTV reality show "The Osbournes." Given the hard-rocking, energetic nature of some of his most popular songs, Osbourne made a few appearances at NFL games over his career. One of those appearances came prior to a New England Patriots game in 2005. The Patriots used Black Sabbath's "Crazy Train" to introduce its players during the team's dynasty. Prior to the team's opener in 2005, it invited Osbourne to sing the song at the stadium in person. He obliged. The Patriots thanked Osbourne for being the voice of that introduction in a tweet Tuesday. In 2003, he appeared at a Chicago Cubs game, where he sang an ... interesting ... rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with his wife Sharon. Osbourne also found himself connected to the St. Louis Blues thanks to an unfortunate image. In 1984,Osbourne was arrestedfor public intoxication. In his mugshot, Osbourne is wearing a Blues jersey. He had played in St. Louis a few days before the arrest. Osbourne, however, decided to poke fun at the moment years later. When the Blues were in the midst of a playoff run in 2019, Osbourne tweeted out an image of the mugshot with the message "Let's go @StLouisBlues." "Medical science has made incredible advances, and I genuinely see no difference in him," they added. "As long as you just do what the doctors say, just live your life as normal as possible. At 91, Dottie Dorion has ridden herPeloton bikemore than 2,900 times. But when the fitness company's age categories topped out at 60-plus, the veteran athlete decided she wasn't going to compete quietly with "those young 80-year-olds." After a 14-month campaign that involved lawyers and letters, Dorion successfully pushed Peloton to create new age brackets for riders 90 and older. Dorion maintains an active lifestyle that includes yoga classes, weight workouts and daily rides on her Peloton. The routine reflects a commitment to fitness that began in childhood, when she spent entire days outdoors before television became commonplace. "We didn't have TV. So, you know, we were outside all the time," Dorion said. "We'd go out in the morning, we'd come back when the dinner bell rang at night." Dorion's athletic achievements span decades and include approximately 250 marathons and triathlons, including threeIronmancompetitions. She completed her first Ironman in 1985 at age 52, after learning to swim specifically for the event. "I said, oh my God, I've gotta learn how to swim," Dorion recalled. "So I did, I learned how to swim." How Dorion advocated for seniors to Peloton Peloton organizes riders into age groups for peer comparison and competition, but only about 6% of users are over 65. When Dorion discovered the maximum age category was 60-plus, she wasn't happy about having to compete with younger people. In a letter to Peloton's CEO last year, Dorion wrote: "I have owned a Peloton cycle since December 2018. I am very serious about maintaining fitness." The initial response was silence. Dorion then enlisted legal help, leading to months of correspondence before Peloton agreed to add both 90-plus and 100-plus age categories. "What took you so long?" was Dorion's response to the final approval email. Dorion was grateful that her persistence paid off. "You can never give up," Dorion said.
