Sacha Baron Cohen Is Nearly Unrecognizable After Dramatic Body Transformation for Marvel Roleoriginally appeared onParade. Sacha Baron Cohenhas transformed himself numerous times over the years — from characters like Borat to Brüno Gehard — but his latest takes the [beef] cake. Ahead of his buzzy role as Mephisto, Marvel's next major supervillain, Cohen has undergone a dramatic physical transformation that's already setting the internet on fire. The 52-year-old actor showed off his nearly unrecognizable physique on the cover ofMen's Fitness UK, hitting newsstands this week, looking every bit the part of a muscular, menacing demon. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Men's Fitness UK (@mensfitnessuk) Marvel chiefKevin Feigeconfirmed this weekthat Mephisto will be a key figure in the next chapter of the MCU. So while Baron Cohen made his debut as the character in theIronheartfinale on Disney+, fans can expect much more of him moving forward. According toDeadline, Baron Cohen reached out toMatthew McConaugheyto ask for a referral to a top-tier trainer. McConaughey pointed him toAlfonso "The Angry Trainer" Moretti, who was quick to take on the challenge. As Moretti shared in the magazine article, Cohen "looked like a ruler, straight up and down. But I also detected an athlete in hiding." The actor himself described his physical state at the time as "having the core strength of an arthritic jellyfish." Moretti was quick to offer congratulations to Cohen online. "Sacha trusted my process and followed the plan exactly," the trainer wrote onInstagramalongside an image of the cover. "Not only did he earn better health and fitness with incredible aesthetics…but also…The COVER ofMen's Fitness!!!" What started with 100 pushups a day turned into a structured, high-discipline routine tailored to fit around his production schedule. The workouts were short but intense — and consistent. As noted in the article, his diet consisted of high fiber and protein, low sugar. The changes came so quickly that Marvel's costume team had to revise his Mephisto outfit more than once to fit his new build, perDeadline. Speaking toMen's Fitness UK, Baron Cohen said the shift wasn't just about aesthetics. "I believe that just 20 to 30 minutes of movement a day can make a real difference — and it's something anyone can fit into their routine, especially celebrities with personal assistants to do all the boring stuff like shopping and attending friends' funerals." Baron Cohen is now ready to face off with Marvel heroes in the studio's next slate of films, which includes two upcomingAvengersinstallments. While Marvel has remained tight-lipped on the specifics of Mephisto's role, Feige described him as "a devil who presents Faustian bargains to hero characters," leaving fans to speculate just how deeply Baron Cohen's version will twist the fate of the MCU. Unswept Reds: Lodolo goes distance in shutout win at Nats as Cincinnati again avoids series sweepNew Foto - Unswept Reds: Lodolo goes distance in shutout win at Nats as Cincinnati again avoids series sweep

WASHINGTON (AP) — Nick Lodolo went the distance and kept the Cincinnati Reds as the only team in the majors that hasn't been swept this season. Lodolo threw a four-hitter for his first career shutout and the Reds snapped a three-game losing streak, including the first two games of their series at Washington, with a5-0 win in the finaleagainst the Nationals on Wednesday. "We needed a win. ... I don't care how," Reds manager Terry Francona said. "Some games feel like they bigger than others. They're not, but they feel like it. But I'm glad we won today that's what we came for." The Reds (53-50), who have an off day Thursday, have played 33 series this season without being swept to set a franchise record. It was the fifth time this year they won the finale after losing the first two in a three-game series. Cincinnati tooktwo out of three at the New York Metscoming out of the All-Star break to match the 32 series in a row by the 1970 Reds, who went on to win the first of five National League pennants in a seven-season span capped by back-to-back World Series titles in 1975 and '76. That 1970 team was swept in two games at the Chicago Cubs in its 33rd series of the season. Lodolo (8-6) struck out eight without a walk, throwing 76 of his career-high 105 pitches for strikes. The Reds have won seven of his nine starts since the beginning of June. "Lodolo showed up big for us to be able to come out here and, you know, obviously not get swept, but just kind of get us back on track to feeling like what we feel like we can do as a ball club," right fielder Jake Fraley said. "He's a phenomenal ball player. He's been pitching his butt off all year. And this is just another start that he's been doing all year." It was the first time in Lodolo's 68 career starts that the 27-year-old left-hander pitched into the ninth inning, and the first time he went at least seven innings in back-to-back starts. It was his second career complete game, but the other was arain-shortened 4-2 winin six innings over Minnesota on June 18. "I got the rainout CG, but now I got a real one," Lodolo said. "It's pretty cool. I feel like I had everything kind of working for the most part. Good defense, I got some early outs that helped me stay in the game that long." Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, when Elly Del La Cruz had a leadoff walk, stole second base and scored on Fraley's single. It stayed that way until the Reds added two runs in the eighth before center fielderJacob Young's inning-ending leaping catchat the wall to take a homer away from Will Benson. "I know the score ended up 5-0. That wasn't a 5-0 game, that was 1-0, (Lodolo) had to pitch through that for the majority of the game," Francona said. "I thought as the game went he got stronger, which is a really good sign. You know, his breaking ball has been a weapon. And as he holds his velocity the entire game he threw strikes. He just really pitched a great game." ___ AP MLB:https://apnews.com/hub/mlb

Did Dave Franco and Alison Brie's new horror flick 'Together' rip off another movie? Here's what both sides are saying.New Foto - Did Dave Franco and Alison Brie's new horror flick 'Together' rip off another movie? Here's what both sides are saying.

Filmmaker Michael Shanks's debut featureTogetheris one of the most anticipated horror films of the summer — but it's not without controversy. The Sundance Film Festival darling — itsold for a reported $17 millionto distributor Neon following a bidding war — stars real-life husband and wife Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a married couple whose vacation takes a turn when (spoiler alert!) a supernatural force causes their bodies to merge. It's a funny, albeit terrifying premise — and one that another production company alleges was stolen from its film,Better Half. Shanks, as well as the talent agency behind theTogetherteam, deny the allegations. But that hasn't stopped people from talking about whetherTogetheris really a rip-off. WithTogetherheading to theaters on July 30, here's an explainer of the drama. Back in May, producers of the indie movieBetter Half, Jess Jacklin and Charles Beale, filed a lawsuitagainst the producers ofTogether, alleging copyright infringement. (Better Halfwas written and directed by Patrick Henry Phelan, however, Jacklin and Beale's production company, StudioFest, is the only plaintiff named in the suit.) According to an article in Entertainment Weekly, Jacklin and Beale claim that the makers ofTogetherstole the concept ofBetter Half, in which a couple "wake up to find their bodies physically fused together as a metaphor for codependency." While the main characters inTogetherare married and inBetter Halfthey are strangers who just had a one night stand, both films show how the couple at the center "navigate daily life as their physical attachment progresses and they start to control each other's body parts," per the lawsuit. The suit also notes that both couples attempt to use chainsaws to separate themselves from one another. TheBetter Halfproducers also note a number of other details that the movies share, including a reference to the Spice Girls, the professions of the main characters and bathroom scenes in which both couples attempt to hide their intertwined condition from a third party. According to the suit, the films also include references to Plato's Symposium, which dissects the meaning and significance of love. TheBetter Halfteam also claims that Franco's and Brie's agents at WMEwere sent a copy of the script forBetter Halfin 2020,but they ultimately passed on the project. It's worth noting that whileTogetheris described as a horror movie,Better Halfis billed as a romantic comedy. The Brooklyn Film Festival, whereBetter Halfpremiered in 2022, features the following description for the filmon its website: "According to Greek mythology, humans were once two-faced, four-armed, four-legged creatures, until Zeus split us in two, leaving us in an endless search for our other halves. Fast forward to modern day: Arturo, a hopeless romantic in search of true love, and Daphne, a serial polygamist allergic to commitment, meet for what should be a one-night stand, and quite literally find their other half when their bodies fuse during sex. The haphazard journey to come undone might just reveal what they'd been missing all along." Better Halfappears not to have received distribution after its festival run and is unable to be viewed online at this point in time. WME, the talent agency representing Franco, Brie and filmmaker Shanks, has vehemently denied theBetter Halfallegations. Speaking toIndieWire, a spokesperson for WME stated, "This lawsuit is frivolous and without merit. The facts in this case are clear and we plan to vigorously defend ourselves." In a joint statement on June 18, Neon and WME alleged that the plaintiffs are doing "nothing more than drumming up 15 minutes of fame for a failed project, demonstrated by the fact they contacted the press before filing their lawsuit, and did so without doing the most basic due diligence." They accused Jacklin and Beale of searching for a payday by making waves in the press. "We look forward to presenting our case in court," they said. That same day, Shanks, who wrote and directedTogether, shared his own statementon Neon's Instagram and X accounts, calling the accusations "devastating."He saidTogethercame from a "deeply personal" place as, like Franco's and Brie's characters, Shanks said he is in a long-term relationship, and that his own experience of the "entanglement of identity, love, and codependence" is what inspiredTogether. "Tim's story, his love for Millie, his relationship to his family, his relationship to unfulfilled ambitions as a musician, is completely rooted in my own personal life," Shanks said in his statement. "I lost my father at a young age in the same way our main character does, his trauma is rooted in my own. To have this called into question is not only deeply upsetting but entirely untrue." View this post on Instagram A post shared by NEON (@neonrated) Shanks also stated that he completed and registered the first draft ofTogetherin 2019 — beforeBetter Halfwas sent to Franco's team at WME — and began developing it with Screen Australia in 2020. Franco came onboard in 2022 after meeting with Shanks, and Brie, Franco's real-life wife, joined the project shortly after. "To now be accused of stealing this story — one so deeply based on my own lived experience, one I've developed over the course of several years — is devastating and has taken a heavy toll," Shanks said. Check out the trailer forTogetherbelow: Plagiarism accusations occur fairly often in Hollywood, and they occasionally receive a lot of attention. Last year, the Alexander Payne filmThe Holdoverswasaccused of stealing elements of Simon Stephenson's scriptFrisco, which was on the 2013 Blacklist of the most popular scripts circulating in the industry. Stephensonfiled a complaint with the Writers Guild of America, which said it was not within the scope of the organization to handle. In the case ofFriscoandThe Holdovers, both scripts are available online, allowing people tomake their own judgments on social mediaabout the similarities — with many saying the scripts were too different to make plagiarism claims. Payne, who directedThe Holdoversfrom a script written by David Hemingson, spoke at the Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2024 about the situation. Payne claimed there was no merit to the plagiarism allegations, which never materialized into a lawsuit. "I didn't even pay attention to it because kooky accusations come out of the woodwork all of the time and this didn't even bother me but then it kind of kept coming, I thought, 'Well, that's dumb,'" Payne said, according toDeadline. Filmmaker and actor Justin Baldoni was alsoaccused of plagiarizing his 2019 directorial debutFive Feet Apart, about teenagers with cystic fibrosis falling in love, from screenwriter Travis Flores' scriptThree Feet Distance. Thecase was settled in 2022and Baldoni has not spoken about the situation publicly. Flores died in 2024. The legal threshold for plagiarism — especially in film and television — is quite high, even if someone is able to prove that the accused had access to an original work like a script. That's because ideas themselves cannot be copyrighted — only the specific expression of an idea, such as the exact script or dialogue. This means that two people can have very similar story concepts without it being considered theft, as long as the execution is different. And it's not unusual forsimilar films and TV shows to come out at almost the same time. The romantic comediesFriends With BenefitsandNo Strings Attached, aboutfriends who fall for one another after promising to stay emotionally uninvolved, both hit theaters in 2011. On the TV side,The WildsandYellowjackets— which debuted less than a year apart, in 2020 and 2021, respectively —both centered on teen girls who must survive the wilderness after a plane crash.

"We were proud as punch about him and everything he achieved," Hemming said. "But it never went to his head. What the public saw of John was exactly what he was like in real life. It wasn't an act … He was just great." According to the outlet, the sisters received a phone call telling them that their brother had died on Tuesday. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner rehired Umberto Ferrara as his fitness coach just under a year after firing him for his role in his doping case. Sinner, the reigning Wimbledon champion, parted ways with Ferrara and physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi following the investigation into his two positive tests for clostebol. The 23-year-old Italian said at the time that he was "not feeling that confident to continue with them." Sinner, however, apparently had a change of heart after recently moving on from fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio. "The decision has been made in alignment with Jannik's management team as part of ongoing preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and U.S. Open," Sinner's team said in a statement. "Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level." Sinner agreed to a three-month ban from tennis for violating anti-doping rules on Feb. 15. He was sanctioned in August with minimal penalty after two positive tests for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid. At the time, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said Sinner was not at fault. --Field Level Media

Doctor pleads guilty to selling Matthew Perry ketamine in the weeks before the actor's deathNew Foto - Doctor pleads guilty to selling Matthew Perry ketamine in the weeks before the actor's death

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A doctor who was a primary target in the sweeping investigation of actorMatthew Perry'soverdose death pleaded guilty Wednesday to supplying the "Friends" star with ketamine despite knowing he was a struggling addict. Dr. Salvador Plasenciabecame the fourth of the five people charged in connection with Perry's death to plead guilty. He and a woman prosecutors say was a major ketamine dealer faced the most serious charges after Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023. Plasencia stood next to his lawyer and said "guilty" four times for four different counts before Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in federal court in Los Angeles. Plasencia, 43, was to have gone on trial in August until the doctor agreed last month to plead guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine, according to the signed document filed in federal court in Los Angeles. The charges can carry up to 40 years in prison. He is likely to be sentenced to much less, but there is no guarantee in his agreement. He spoke only to answer the judge's questions. When asked if his lawyers had considered all the possibilities of pleas and sentencing in the case, Plasencia replied, "They've considered everything." One of Matthew Perry's ketamine suppliers expresses regret "Dr. Plasencia is profoundly remorseful for the treatment decisions he made while providing ketamine to Matthew Perry," the doctor's attorney, Debra White, said in an emailed statement after the hearing. "He is fully accepting responsibility by pleading guilty to drug distribution. Dr. Plasencia intends to voluntarily surrender his medical license, acknowledging his failure to protect Mr. Perry, a patient who was especially vulnerable due to addiction." In exchange for the guilty pleas, prosecutors have agreed to drop three additional counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of falsifying records. Prosecutors outlined the charges in court before the plea, and said that he did not sell Perry the dose that killed the actor. They described, and Plasencia admitted, that Perry froze up and his blood pressure spiked when the doctor gave him one injection, but Plasencia still left more ketamine for Perry's assistant to inject. In court, Perry was referred to only as "victim MP." Plasencia acknowledged that he knew the actor was in addict when he charged him thousands of dollars and gave him ketamine, a drug primarily used as a surgical anesthetic. Plasencia has been free on bond since shortly after his arrest in August, and will be allowed to remain free until his Dec. 3 sentencing. Defense lawyer Karen Goldstein assured the judge that he is not a flight risk, saying he was born and raised in the area and is one of the primary caretakers for his son, who is about 2 years old. Plasencia has already turned over his license to prescribe controlled substances. He has been allowed to practice medicine in the past year, but he must inform patients of the charges before treating them. Goldstein told the judge he'll now surrender his medical license too. Plasencia left the courthouse with his lawyers without speaking to reporters gathered outside. Case raises questions about at-home ketamine use "While Dr. Plasencia was not treating Mr. Perry at the time of his death," his lawyer's statement said, "he hopes his case serves as a warning to other medical professionals and leads to stricter oversight and clear protocols for the rapidly growing at-home ketamine industry in order to prevent future tragedies like this." The only remaining defendant who has not reached an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office is Jasveen Sangha, who prosecutors allege is a drug dealer known as the "Ketamine Queen" and sold Perry the lethal dose. Her trial is scheduled to begin next month. She has pleaded not guilty. According to prosecutors and co-defendants who reached their own deals, Plasencia illegally supplied Perry with a large amount of ketamine starting about a month before his death on Oct. 28, 2023. According to a co-defendant, Plasencia in a text message called the actor a "moron" who could be exploited for money. Perry's personal assistant, his friend, and another doctor allagreed to plead guiltylast year in exchange for their cooperation as the government sought to make their case against larger targets, Plasencia and Sangha. None have been sentenced yet. Perry was found deadby the assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. The medical examiner ruled thatketaminewas the primary cause of death. The actor had been using the drug through his regular doctor in a legal but off-label treatment for depression, which has become increasingly common. Perry began seeking more ketamine than his doctor would give him. If you can't tell, I'm a little pissed they didn't ask me." he said. "I was so shocked and hurt and pissed that they wouldn't even consider me." For years, the only thing they would talk about was me." he claimed. In aninterview withEntertainment Weekly,SurvivorhostJeff Probstsaid roughly 200 former players were contacted about participating inSurvivor 50, though only 24 made it onto the cast. "We went from 200 on a list to 100, to 80, to 50. And then those last 26, they were brutal cuts," he said. "And they still are. There are so many people we could have put out there, but there are only so many people you can put on the show." When asked which players we would've liked to have seen on season 50, Boneham said there were lots of people he'd like to see play again, but that he struggled to name specific players since he couldn't look past his own exclusion. "I have trouble looking past them not even giving me the chance." he said. However, he did note that his winner pick for the season was hisSurvivor: All-StarscastmateJenna Lewis. "I always liked Jenna... I hope she does well. I would love to see her come back and win the whole thing. She sure deserves it." he said. Despite the disappointment of not being selected forSurvivor 50, Boneham still has a deep passion and love for the show. "I loved playingSurvivor. I was a fan ofSurvivorfrom the first time I saw it. In Indiana, in February, I played a state fairSurvivorin an eight-foot by 10-foot hut for ten days with ten people and made it to the end. I used that for my audition video going into the real game.
