Texans S Jimmie Ward arrested after alleged bond violationNew Foto - Texans S Jimmie Ward arrested after alleged bond violation

Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested on Thursday for allegedly violating the terms of a previous legal order. He was to spend the night in Montgomery County (Texas) Jail before being released on Friday, his lawyer, Steve Jackson, told KPRC 2 in Houston. Ward, 34, was arrested on June 12 at his home in Magnolia, Texas, and held on a third-degree charge of felony domestic violence. Per KPRC 2, the case involved the mother of Ward's child, who sought and received a protective order after alleging that she was assaulted, strangled and threatened by Ward. He was released on a $30,000 bond at the time. Jackson told KPRC 2 on Thursday, "It's a condition of bond, and there are certain conditions like you can't drink. Jimmie believed it was for not getting intoxicated, like he could have a drink. There was no contact with the complainant. The court has a zero tolerance policy for drinking while on bond, unbeknownst to him. "The judge issued a sanction, so he will spend the night in jail overnight. This has nothing to do with the complaining witness at all. There are no new allegations against Jimmie. The judge wants to treat him fairly, like anyone else." The Texans did not comment on the latest arrest, according to ESPN and KPRC 2. The original case is headed to a grand jury on Aug. 31, Jackson told KPRC 2. With the case pending and with Ward nursing a foot injury, he hadn't taken part in training camp this summer. The NFL reportedly is investigating Ward and could issue a punishment. Ward recorded 48 tackles and two interceptions -- one returned for a touchdown -- in 10 games (all starts) last season. He has totaled 549 tackles, 10 interceptions -- three returned for a touchdown -- in 126 career games (99 starts) with the San Francisco 49ers (2014-22) and Texans. --Field Level Media

IndyCar dragged into controversy with Trump administration's ICE car, 'Speedway Slammer'New Foto - IndyCar dragged into controversy with Trump administration's ICE car, 'Speedway Slammer'

About 70 miles north of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500, a new immigration detention center got a noteworthy and controversial name. "The Speedway Slammer'' is what the Trump administration is calling it. "COMING SOON to Indiana: The Speedway Slammer,''Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, wroteon her X account Aug. 5. "Today, we're announcing a new partnership with the state of Indiana to expand detention bed space by 1,000 beds.'' In her post, Noem also thanked Indiana governor Michael Braun "for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country. If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Indiana's Speedway Slammer. Avoid arrest and self deport now using the@CBP.'' Homeland Security also issued the image of an Indy car emblazoned with the letters ICE – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – and No. 5, which belongs to NTT IndyCar Series driver Pato O'Ward, the only Mexican in the Indy 500 and the series this year. The car appears to be driving past a prison. The Speedway Slammer 🏁pic.twitter.com/fXlTgWW8jA — Homeland Security (@DHSgov)August 5, 2025 O'Ward, who drives for Arrow McLaren, is ranked second in points in the 2025 season and has won two races this year. It wasn't immediately clear whether the use of the 5 was purposeful to point to O'Ward or if it was just a coincidence. Outside the number, the car lacked any other connections to O'Ward's traditional black-and-papaya-colored chassis. A spokesperson for Arrow McLaren declined to comment when reached by the Indianapolis Star, part of the USA TODAY Network, regarding the matter. Border CzarTom Homan, asked about requests not to use the name Speedway, said he didn't know who specifically was behind the name. "I don't want the names [to detract from] the great work they're doing," Homan said. "This is serious work and it's dangerous work." Penske Entertainment, which owns Indianapolis Speedway and the NTT IndyCar Series, provided a statement to The Star in which it said it was unaware of plans to incorporate its imagery as part of the announcement. "Consistent with our approach to public policy and political issues, we are communicating our preference that our IP not be utilized moving forward in relation to this matter,'' Penske Entertainment said. Roger Penske, founder and chairman of Penske Corporation, received the medal of freedom from PresidentDonald Trumpduring Trump's first term in the White House. Penske Entertainment is a subsidiary of Penske Corporation. The Speedway Slammer joins "Alligator Alcatraz,'' a detention center in Florida that marked the only other partnership with a state to expand ICE detention capacity. "We are proud to work with President Trump and Secretary Noem as they remove the worst of the worst with this innovative partnership," said Braun, Indiana's governor, said in news release issued by DHS. "Indiana is taking a comprehensive and collaborative approach to combating illegal immigration and will continue to lead the way among states." Iconic Actor, Who Got His Big Break In His 60s, Turns 83New Foto - Iconic Actor, Who Got His Big Break In His 60s, Turns 83

Iconic Actor, Who Got His Big Break In His 60s, Turns 83originally appeared onParade. Anyone who says it's too late to shoot for the moon has likely never metTobin Bell. The actor, perhaps best known for his chilling performance as Jigsaw in theSawfilm franchise, recently turned 83, but if you watch any of his recent work, he's still in his prime. Unlike a lot of Hollywood stars, who are cast in their breakout roles in their twenties or thirties, Bell had to wait a few decades longer to earn household recognition. In fact, Bell was in his sixties when he landed the role of a lifetime. But, playing one of the most legendary villains in horror cinema history was never exactly what he had in mind. "I always thought I was going to be a romantic leading man," Tobin told theLA Timesin 2024. While Bell certainly had the chops— he studied with Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn at the Actors Studio in New York City throughout the 1970s— he never quite made the cut. He landed bit parts and small roles, but it wasn't enough to be an actor full-time. "I worked at 53 part-time jobs to keep myself going for more than 20 years in New York," he said. "I loaded trucks, parked cars at the Hilton garage, bused tables, waited tables, tended bar. I worked as background and a stand-in in 35 films before I ever spoke." To date, Bell has over 100 films and shows under his belt, and he is a living, breathing example that the age-old saying, "there are no small parts, only small actors," is completely true. "I've learned more doing crap than I've learned doing good stuff," he said. "Because you have to try to make it better, more interesting." By the early aughts, Bell had been cast as the dark and mysterious father of Patrick Dempsey's character onOnce and Again.Amy Lippens, the same casting director that cast the ABC series, was working on assembling the cast for the firstSawfilm, and Bell's sharp, one-of-a-kind voice immediately came to mind for the role of Jigsaw. At the time, Bell was in his early sixties, but he knew he was about to embark on something big. "The attractiveness of the film, for me, was: I had never worked with Danny Glover, and I wanted to work with him," he said in a 2017interview. "I thought that three guys locked in a room was, like… no one was making films about three guys locked in a room. And it threw toWaiting For Godot, for me, on some level." From there, the rest is nothing short of film history. Bell has reprised his iconic role in seven subsequent films, sending chills down spines around the world. And, the octogenarian has no intention of slowing down or retiring his iconic character. "I'm really excited about continuing to develop him," he told theLA Times. "John Kramer is not done. There's more to learn." Jordan Love could play in preseason opener, and other notes from Packers' practiceNew Foto - Jordan Love could play in preseason opener, and other notes from Packers' practice

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Packers coach Matt LaFleur says he will try to play all four of his quarterbacks Saturday, an indication that Jordan Love could make at least a cameo appearance in Green Bay's preseason opener against the New York Jets. "We'll do our best to give them all meaningful reps," LaFleur said Thursday. "Certainly some of those guys, they're going to play longer than others." Green Bay's other quarterbacks in camp are Malik Willis, Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma. Love said Wednesday he would like to get at least a little bit of preseason playing time. He threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks in the first series of last year'spreseason openerand didn't play again until the start of the regular season. "I think it's always nice to get a couple preseason snaps just to put yourself back in that game mode mentality," Love said. If Love's going to play at all in the preseason, Saturday would be an ideal time since the Packers' other two exhibition games are preceded by joint practices. LaFleur went into detail on why he would like his starters to get at least a taste of playing time in the exhibition games. While appearing in preseason games offers the threat of injury, LaFleur cited data he has seen indicating it actually could reduce that risk in the long run. "They'll tell you, according to our medical people and our performance people, if you get X amount of reps, you're whatever however many times less likely to get injured within the first four-to-five weeks of the regular season," LaFleur said. This represents a change from the approach LaFleur took earlier in his tenure. Green Bay's top starters sat out all the Packers' preseason games in 2021 and 2022. The Packers opened the regular season with lopsided losses to theNew Orleans Saintsin 2021 andMinnesota Vikingsin 2022. "I would say of getting ready to compete and go play a collision sport — You've got to get your mind right," LaFleur said. "What's beautiful about our preseason schedule, you've got a night kickoff, you've got an early kickoff and then you have that late afternoon kickoff. So it kind of gets the guys a little bit prepped for what they're going to encounter early on in the season." NOTES: All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney didn't practice Thursday due to a calf injury. McKinney said Thursday he doesn't expect to play any preseason games but vowed to be ready for the start of the season. "I'll be ready when it's time to go, for sure," McKinney said. … Bo Melton, who played wide receiver for the Packers from 2023-24, has been workingprimarily at cornerbackin training camp. The experiment has worked so well that Melton even got some first-team reps on defense Thursday whileNate Hobbswas unavailable because of knee surgery recovery and Keisean Nixon also was held out of team drills. Melton said he's looking forward to testing himself in a game situation. "Definitely going to be one for the books, for the first time going out there at corner," Melton said. "Definitely confident. I'm ready to go."

Malik Beasley's return to theDetroit Pistonsnext season — or any other NBA team — is uncertain amida federal investigation into his alleged involvementwith gambling and prop bets. However, if he was to re-sign with the Pistons, he'll apparently have to find a different place to live in Detroit. Beasley, 28, was evicted from his high-rise apartment in Detroit on Wednesday, the Detroit News' Robert Snell reports. An eviction order was filed in the 36th District Court two months after the guard was sued for failing to pay rent on the downtown Detroit residence. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] The NBA guard has been sued twice for not paying a total of $21,500 in rent for his apartment at The Stott, the high-rise building owned by Bedrock Detroit, which is part of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's business portfolio. Beasley did not respond to the second of the lawsuits accusing him of failing to pay $7,355, resulting in a default judgment being filed against him before 36th District Judge Andrew Bradley-Baskin. The nine-year veteran is currently a free agent and was reportedly set to agree ona three-year, $42 million contractwith the Pistons before news of the federal gambling investigation was reported. Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney, pointed out to reporters that his clienthas not been chargedwith any crime. Following reports of the gambling probe, Beasley was alsosued by Hazan Sports Management Groupfor breach of contract, alleging he owes the agency $650,000 that was unpaid when he terminated his contract. Despite the gambling investigation and lawsuits, Beasley insists he will play in the NBA next season, whether with the Pistons or other teams. During the past month, he has posted videos on social media of him training in Miami (in addition to going to nightclubs and traveling in Europe). On Wednesday, he posteda story to Snapchatsaying, "We gotta be prepared to come back to the Pistons, or, like I said, there's some other teams interested as well." Malik Beasley on Snapchat"People were saying some crazy things in the media, people judging me. I'll tell you one thing I have a chip on my shoulder I'm ready to destroy anyone in front of me, I'm ready to prove again I belong in this league."pic.twitter.com/qKBDFKKJW7 — Pistons Talk (@Pistons__Talk)August 6, 2025 The Pistons appear to have moved on,signing guard Caris LeVertin free agency and working out a sign-and-tradedeal for Duncan Robinson, who presumably fills Beasley's role as a long-range shooter off the bench. Last season, Beasley averaged 16.3 points and shot 42% on 366 3-point attempts. He was Detroit's third-leading scorer and appeared in all 82 games as the Pistons returned to the playoffs afterfinishing with the NBA's worst recordduring the previous season. That performance earned him a second-place finish in NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting.

Mariah Carey finally learns of Katy Perry's space adventure: 'This is true?'New Foto - Mariah Carey finally learns of Katy Perry's space adventure: 'This is true?'

Jon Kopaloff/Getty Mariah Careyfans are loving a video of her learning about Katy Perry's trip to space — almost four months after the fact. The singer was asked in an interview if she would like to go to space as Perry did, but Carey expressed some disbelief: "Did she go to space?" Scott Mills, the host ofThe Scott Mills Breakfast Showon BBC's Radio 2 assured the powerhouse vocalist that, yes, Perry had. "Where'd she go?" Carey asked again. Mills looked at her quizzically. "Space?" he offered. The "Last Friday Night" singer joined CBS journalist Gayle King, and four others for anall-female commercial spaceflighton April 14 through space-tech company Blue Origin, which is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The journey took a little more than 10 minutes. Carey couldn't get over it. "Into orbit and back? She's, like, floating?" Carey asked. "And this is true?" The host assured the star that it was factual. "Wow," Carey said. "All right, Katy." She added, "I'm not mad at her. That's pretty amazing." Mills appeared to tease Carey when he said, "Well, I mean, she hasn't stopped talking about it since, but it happened." Mills then got back to his original question: Would Carey go to space?" "I think I've done enough," Carey replied, much to the internet's glee. Greg Gutfeld Hugs Jimmy Fallon and Plugs His Game Show in Fox News Host's First Late-Night CrossoverNew Foto - Greg Gutfeld Hugs Jimmy Fallon and Plugs His Game Show in Fox News Host's First Late-Night Crossover

Greg Gutfeld made his broadcast late-night debut on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Thursday evening, marking a rare network crossover with the Fox News host visiting NBC's 30 Rock. A conservative media personality is a rare booking for "The Tonight Show" and the 10-minute segment between Gutfeld and Fallon largely steered clear of politics. After being introduced to the stage, Gutfeld met Fallon with a big hug, lifting his own feet off the ground mid-embrace before taking a seat. Gutfeld then nosedived into a story about meeting Fallon roughly 15 years ago at a Hell's Kitchen bar, in which both parties were "wasted." More from Variety Donald Trump Claims He Was Not 'Solely Responsible' for Canceling Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show,' Adds 'Less Talented' Jimmy Kimmel and 'Very Insecure' Jimmy Fallon Are Next Stephen Colbert 'Late Show' Features Cameos by Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler and More in Spoof of Coldplay Kiss-Cam Video Jimmy Fallon Teases New NBC Show 'On Brand' and Playing Frisbee Golf With Brad Pitt for Upcoming 'Tonight Show' Episode: 'We Both Showed Up in Tie-Dye Outfits' In the segment, Gutfeld also gave an account of various "firings" that led him to working at Fox News. He shared that his hired his mother as a "senior correspondent" for his first Fox News show, "Red Eye." His mother's duties amounted to watching Fox News and catching Gutfeld up on the stories of the day. After Fallon congratulated Gutfeld on "everything you've done," the conversation concluded with a plug for the new Fox Nation game show "What Did I Miss?," in which contestants are sequestered for 100 days and then asked if recent news headlines are real or fake. After a jokey tangent about how "we didn't pay them anything," Gutfeld did bring up the topic of Trump and how "you never know what he's going to do," adding to the appeal of his show's premise. Fallon added: "You wouldn't even have to sequester people." Though "Gutfeld!" airs 90 minutes earlier than traditional broadcast late-night programs, like Fallon's and Jimmy Kimmel's, the Fox News host has often touted that he draws a larger viewership than such programs. When Stephen Colbert announced on-air that "The Late Show" would be ending in 2026, Fox Newspublishedan article about the consistent growth in ratings for "Gutfeld!" since its premiere in 2021. The piece also underlined that "Gutfeld!" has drawn a bigger audience than Colbert for nearly two years on the smaller reach of a cable network, albeit in an earlier time slot. "They didn't just cancel the show. They canceled the whole show," Gutfeld said about Colbert's program being canceled in July. "This was an 'institution,' and rather than put someone in his place they just said, 'We're closing up.' Imagine being a chef. You're such a bad chef that they cancel food. … It's so obvious. You can't do a comedy show and a sermon at the same time." The Fox News host teased his appearance on "The Tonight Show" last week, calling the taping "the biggest crossover since the Harlem Globetrotters visited the Golden Girls." He also side-eyed other late-night hosts by adding, "Unlike the other guys, Jimmy sitting with me proves he's not afraid of upsetting his peers or afraid of my mesmerizing charm." Fallon took a few jabs at President Trump in Thursday's monologue, with jokes like "The only places Trump didn't [tariff] are North Korea and Epstein Island." However, "The Tonight Show" has largely opted out of political commentary in recent years, even as other late-night hosts like Colbert, Kimmel and Fallon's NBC peer Seth Meyers have all leaned further into the subject. The Jonas Brothers also guested on Thursday's episode of "The Tonight Show," while Good Charlotte provided a music performance. SEATTLE (AP) — Dominic Canzone singled home the winning run in the 11th inning and the Seattle Mariners completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 4-3 victory Thursday. Randy Arozarena hit an early two-run homer for the Mariners, who swept a series for the first time since July 11-13. They moved within 1 1/2 games of first-place Houston in the AL West. Michael A. Taylor and Brooks Baldwin each had a solo homer for the White Sox, who lead the majors with 37 home runs since the All-Star break. Both teams scored once in the 10th. Lenyn Sosa raced home on a wild pitch from Seattle reliever Eduard Bazardo with the bases loaded to give Chicago a 3-2 lead. But in the bottom half, a throwing error by third baseman Josh Rojas on Miles Mastrobuoni's sacrifice bunt allowed Arozarena to score the tying run. Jackson Kowar (2-0) worked a perfect inning for the win. Arozarena matched his career high with his 23rd home run, connecting in the third off starter Shane Smith. Taylor went deep in the fifth and Baldwin homered in the seventh. Seattle starter Logan Gilbert tossed five innings, permitting one run and two hits while striking out six. Smith pitched five innings for Chicago and equaled his career best with eight strikeouts. Luis Robert Jr. went 3 for 4 with a double and reached base four times for the White Sox. Key moment Chicago intentionally walked Mitch Garver — who struck out three times in the game — to set up a lefty-lefty matchup against Canzone with one out in the 11th. Canzone hit a slider from Brandon Eisert (2-3) between first and second to score automatic runner Eugenio Suárez from second base. It was the first walk-off hit of Canzone's career. Key stat Robert swiped second in the eighth, becoming the fourth player in franchise history with 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases. Up next Chicago returns home for a three-game series against Cleveland, with right-hander Aaron Civale (3-6, 3.99 ERA) on the mound Friday night. Seattle welcomes Tampa Bay for a weekend series, with Luis Castillo (8-6, 3.22) scheduled to start Friday for the Mariners. ___ AP MLB:https://apnews.com/hub/MLB

The team confirmed it was a torn patellar tendon and Slater will be out for the season. His lone other missed start unrelated to the ruptured tendon was due to an illness during his rookie season in 2021.
