Cricket legend Ricky Ponting blasts England for using a VERY dodgy tactic - but it couldn't stop them losing to Australia
Cricket icon Ricky Ponting has lashed out at England for using an underhanded tactic in a failed attempt to put Australia off their game in the teams' series-deciding one-day clash on Sunday. The former Test skipper slammed the home side for time-wasting as they fell to the old enemy in Bristol. With the match shortened due to a rain delay, the Aussies needed to bat for 20 overs to secure a result - and England tried their best to delay the game in the hope more rain would wash it out.

The usually calm quarterback was unhappy with his team's performance and his frustration boiled over in an unpleasant scene on the sideline.

When footy star Mitchell Pearce told his mates how his life suddenly changed, they 'must have thought I was off my head'
Mitchell Pearce enjoyed the highest peaks of rugby league but also endured the lowest of lows during a rollercoaster career that he believes might never started at all if it wasn't for some supernatural intervention. Pearce began his rugby league career with the Sydney Roosters in 2007 when he was just a teenager and quickly rose to the top of the playmaking standings, picked to represent NSW in the 2008 State of Origin series.

Angel Reese continued to enjoy her free time away from the WNBA as she made an appearance at M&T Bank Stadium Sunday. Reese and the Chicago Sky failed to make the WNBA postseason, finishing 13-27 and one spot shy of the playoffs, but the rookie still couldn't stay away from the sporting spotlight. The Baltimore native cheered on her hometown Ravens as Lamar Jackson and co. took on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football.

Premier League mega-squads have broken the League Cup. Here's how to fix it, writes MATT BARLOW
If Newcastle beat Wimbledon in the tie rearranged when parts of the pitch at Plough Lane vanished in the rain, there will be 13 Premier League teams in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. That figure is as high as it has ever been and if you zoom in on the details, five of the seven top-flight teams no longer involved lost in all-Premier League ties. The other two lost on penalties.

Whisper it, but the super Springboks are hard to dislike. They are good for rugby, writes CHRIS FOY
The Springboks and their fans have embraced being the Millwall FC of rugby – 'nobody likes us and we don't care'. Well, maybe it is time to strip them of that motivational tool, by learning to love them. For neutrals and rivals, this is a jarring concept. But there is a very real danger that South Africa are shedding their status as perennial pantomime villains. All the haters are going to hate, hate, hate this, but the Boks are proving worthy of warmth and admiration, in defiance of long tradition.

Bristol City boss wants VAR in the Championship after controversial Swansea goal is allowed to stand
Bristol City manager Liam Manning has called on the EFL to introduce Video Assistant Referees into the Championship. Manning made the plea after seeing his team concede a controversial goal during Sunday's 1-1 draw away at Swansea City. Ben Cabango tapped home at the far post from an Eom Ji-sung corner kick in the 15th minute after Swansea forward Ronald had appeared to block keeper Max O'Leary. At one point, Ronald wrapped both of his arms around O'Leary but referee Josh Smith did not spot an infringement.
