'E! News' Canceled After 32 Years on AirNew Foto - 'E! News' Canceled After 32 Years on Air

"E! News" has been canceled — again. The celebrity-focused newscast will continue airing new episodes until Sept. 25 on E!, which is spinning off from NBCUniversal and will be folded into the new, publicly traded company Versant (formerly known as SpinCo). The cancellation comes three years after "E! News" returned from a two-year hiatus, after it was initially axed by E! in 2020. The series, originally a daytime program, returned as a late-night broadcast. More from Variety Tammy Filler Moves From E! News to NBCU Ad Deals 'E! News' Nightly Broadcast to Return After Two-Year Hiatus (TV News Roundup) 'E! News,' 'Pop of the Morning,' 'In the Room' Canceled Amid Greater NBCUniversal Restructure (EXCLUSIVE) The decision to cancel the show is said to have come from the E! network, as it looks to leverage its brand of entertainment coverage and commentary across digital and social platforms. A source indicates that as news consumers demand real-time digital coverage, a broadcast during the 11 p.m. slot (which "E! News" has occupied since 2022) no longer best serves the audience. E! boasts a growing digital presence with 87 million followers across social media platforms. Thursday's broadcast of "E! News" will be a repeat, but new episodes will resume next week. E! informed the roughly 20 employees at "E! News" of the cancellation Thursday morning. Some "E! News" linear correspondents are expected to transition over to Versant in yet-to-be-determined capacities. E!, the linear network, continues to air original series including "Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind" and "Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour." It recently announced upcoming series "Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane" and "E!'s Dirty Rotten Scandals." The network will also continue to have a presence on Hollywood red carpets with "Live From E!" The Critics Choice Awards will air on E! on Jan. 4. Best of Variety New Movies Out Now in Theaters: What to See This Week 'Harry Potter' TV Show Cast Guide: Who's Who in Hogwarts? Anthony Mackie appeared on "The Tonight Show" to promote "Twisted Metal" Season 2, but the interview started with host Jimmy Fallon congratulating Mackie on his recent Emmy nomination for guest actor in a comedy series thanks to his performance in Seth Rogen's Apple TV+ series "The Studio." Mackie was on a set the morning of the Emmys announcement and automatically assumed his white co-stars landed noms over him, per usual. "I'm on set… and I look over and everybody's like 'Congratulations!' And I was like, 'Oh, what white dude got nominated?'" Mackie said. "Because I'm the white dude legend when it comes to nominations and wins. I made Ryan Gosling famous. I made Jeremy Renner famous. I made Bryan Cranston famous. I now made Ron Howard famous! I'm like, if you want to get nominated, I'm the dude. You know what I mean?" More from Variety Oscars Submissions Site Opens With New Producer Sign-Off Requirement Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast Roundtable Dissects the Emmy Nominations - Including This Year's Biggest Shockers 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' Has Never Won an Emmy - That Could Finally Change After CBS Canceled It Mackie was referring to his long history of being snubbed by awards voters while his white co-stars land nominations instead. Mackie was Ryan Gosling's co-star in 2006's "Half Nelson," which earned Gosling an Oscar nomination for best actor. He starred alongside Jeremy Renner in 2008's "The Hurt Locker," which won best picture and earned Renner a best actor Oscar nom. Mackie played Martin Luther King Jr. to Bryan Cranston's Lyndon B. Johnson in the HBO movie "All the Way," for which Cranston was an Emmy nominee. And now Mackie appeared with Ron Howard in "The Studio." Only this time it wasn't just Howard who got an Emmy nomination but Mackie, too. In various interviews over the years, Mackie has spoken publicly about his disappointment with awards bodies for overlooking his work. He told Esquire earlier this year on the "Captain America: Brave New World" publicity tour: "I know I've done at least four performances that could have been nominated — if not for a Golden Globe, then an Oscar or an Emmy. Captain America is my Oscar, because I've been overlooked so many times in my career." Speaking toMen's Healthin 2020, Mackie said he "put everything" into "The Hurt Locker" and had to stop acting for a bit when the Oscars snubbed him for supporting actor. "That little fucker matters," Mackie said at the time about the Oscar. "We try to protect ourselves and say, 'I'm doing the work for the work.' But when that happened with 'Hurt Locker,' it hurt. I had to take a year off of work." Mackie is one of four guest actors nominated for "The Studio." The others are Ron Howard, Bryan Cranston and Dave Franco. The Apple TV+ series earned a huge 23 nominations this year, making it the most-nominated freshman comedy in history. It's also now tied for most nominations for a single season of a comedy series. Kansas coach Bill Self undergoes heart procedureNew Foto - Kansas coach Bill Self undergoes heart procedure

Kansas men's basketballcoach Bill Self was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Thursday after he "experienced some concerning symptoms," according to a statement from Kansas Athletics. Self had two stents inserted during a heart procedure that "went very well," and he is expected to make a full recovery. "He is in good spirits and expects to be released from the hospital soon." The university did not disclose any information regarding a timetable for Self's recovery or whether he will miss the upcoming basketball season. Self previously underwent a heart procedure and had two stents placed to treat blocked arteries in 2023. The veteran coach had experienced chest tightness and had concerns about his balance after watching shooting as his team was preparing for a Big 12 tournament quarterfinal game that year. He recovered and was present at NCAA Tournament practices, but did not fully return to coaching on the sideline for games until the following season. Bill Self has spent the past 22 seasons as Kansas' head basketball coach, winning the national championship in 2008 and 2022. The Jayhawks have qualified for the NCAA Tournament 21 times during Self's tenure, only missing the 2020 season when the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has compiled a 624-156 overall record during his time at Kansas. Kansas has exhibition games scheduled against Louisville (Oct. 24) and Fort Hays State (Oct. 28) before opening the season against Green Bay on Nov. 3 and North Carolina on Nov. 7. Raiders reportedly release DT Christian Wilkins, void $35.2 million in guaranteed money over alleged foot rehab issuesNew Foto - Raiders reportedly release DT Christian Wilkins, void $35.2 million in guaranteed money over alleged foot rehab issues

TheLas Vegas Raiderssigneddefensive tackle Christian Wilkins to a four-year, $110 million deal in March 2024. They released him Thursday after claiming they don't have to pay him due to how he rehabbed a foot injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Wilkins has reportedly filed a grievance with the NFLPA in response. The release comes after the Raiders reportedly voided the $35.2 million in guaranteed money left on his contract last month. The Raiders confirmed the move in a statement in which they claimed there was "no clear path or plan for future return to play" from Wilkins. pic.twitter.com/WV0sKoG7oQ — Las Vegas Raiders (@Raiders)July 24, 2025 The trouble began when Wilkins sustained a Jones fracture in his left foot in Week 5 of last season. The injury required surgery and knocked the 29-year-old out for the rest of the season. The issue was still bothering him as training camp began, with the Raiders placing him on the physically unable to perform list last week. ESPN later reportedthe Raiders believed Wilkins needed another surgery on his foot, which he resisted, and that they voided his money due to a "failure to maintain his physical condition to play." [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Wilkins' timeline to return remained hazy up to Thursday. However, Raiders head coach Pete Carrollpraised his effort in May: "It's been a difficult recovery and he's done everything he needs to do," Carroll said. "He's been here every day. He's here early working hard. He's not ready to get back out. We're in the midst of a long, challenging process. Fortunately, there's a lot of time and we're going to take every bit of it to be really diligent about the way we work." Wilkins was a big get for the Raiders last offseason, joining the team after a standout fifth season with theMiami Dolphinsin which he posted a career-high nine sacks. That $110 million deal was the second-largest among defensive tackles in NFL history in total money, guaranteed money and average annual value, behind onlyChris Jones' mega-deal with theKansas City Chiefs. Wilkins was supposed to form a devastating pass-rush combo alongsideMaxx Crosby, but the Raiders ended up ranking only 21st in the NFL in sacks, one of their many problems in a 4-13 season. It is worth noting that the Raiders have changed leadership since signing Wilkins, going from head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco to Carroll and GM John Spytek. It wouldn't be a surprise if they weren't as interested in keeping Wilkins for the long term as their predecessors were. Here's the salary cap hit the Raiders will take, per Pro Football Talk: The move will create a cap charge of $17.925 million in 2025, with another $55.025 million hitting the cap in 2026. That said, there's already talk that the team believes Wilkins didn't comply with his rehab plan. That could potentially avoid $8 million in 2025 salary, and another $25.25 million in 2026 salary. Obviously, however, there would be a legal fight over whether any effort to void his guarantees is justified.

In 2003, Ozzy and Kelly released a duet version of the song as a single. The song's original lyrics are: "I feel unhappy, I feel so sad / I've lost the best friend that I ever had." Following news of his death at 76 on Tuesday, the Osbourne family issued a statement confirming his passing. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love." Osbourne had been dealing with chronic illness over the past few years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in January 2020, and in early 2023 announced that he had retired from touring, citing spinal injuries he had sustained in a 2018 accident.
