RobandMichele Singer Reiner'sson Jake is sharing how the death of his parents has affected him and his grief over the milestones they'll miss.
In an emotional post on hisSubstack, the 34-year-old son of the Hollywood couple spoke in depth about his parents' Dec. 14 death for the first time. Throughout the article, Jake candidly discussed his grief, sharing that he cannot believe his parents won't be around for some of his most important milestones.
"I was robbed of so many things that day," Jake wrote in his post. "My parents won't be at my wedding, they won't get to hold their future grandchild, and they won't get to see me have the successful career I'm still seeking."

"It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me," he continued. "Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time. It's too devastating to comprehend."
"I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it's not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare."
Elsewhere in the article, Jake wrote about finding out for the first time that his parents had been killed.

"On the afternoon of December 14, I was in Union Square at a celebration of life for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October," Jake began his post. "It was at that moment I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead. Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead."
"The 45-minute Lyft ride from downtown to the west side was unendurable. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed," Jake shared. "I was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened."
Rob and Michele were found dead in the family's home on the afternoon of Dec. 14. Their younger son Nick was arrested roughly six hours later. (Rob and Michele alsoshareddaughterRomy, and Rob also shared daughter Tracey, 61, with his first wife, the late actressPenny Marshall.)
Nick faces two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents and has since pleaded not guilty. The L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE Dec. 17 that the couple died from "multiple sharp force injuries."Nathan J. Hochman, the L.A. County district attorney, is also pursuing a murder conviction with “special circumstances,” a designation that could make Nick eligible for the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
This past January,The New York Timesreportedthat Nick entered into a mental health conservatorship in 2020 that ended in 2021. Anonymous sources also told the outlet that Nick had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, and that he struggled in the weeks leading up to his parents' killings after switching his medication.
The change in medication was due to side effects about one month before his arrest, theTimesreported. Multiple outlets reported in December thatNick was being treated for schizophrenia.
