The USA team were screaming their delirium on Sunday night as they wheeled themselves down one of the back corridors of the Champ-de-Marsarena after defeating Great Britain, who had departed down it before them in silence — the sound of defeat ringing in their ears. Three years ago, Britain beat the Americans for the first time to secure Paralympic gold in wheelchair rugby — the sport they call 'Murderball' — making it 13 years since they had last lifted top prize in a sport they consider their own.
