Kalyn Ponga has opened up on the family tragedy that has forged an unbreakable bond between his loved ones. Dally M winner Ponga, 26, burst onto the scene as an exciting teenage prodigy with North Queensland, before switching to Newcastle Knights in 2018. It has not all been smooth sailing for the Queenslander, though, with a string of concussion issues and the devastating loss of his younger brother having a major impact.

Italian sprinter set to become the first transgender athlete to compete as a woman at the Paralympics TODAY - despite huge backlash against 50-year-old athlete's involvement
An Italian sprinter will be the first openly transgender athlete to compete at the Paralympics later today. Valentina Petrillo, 50, who transitioned in 2019, will compete in the women's T12 200m at 9.48am BST. The T12 classification is for athletes with visual impairments. She is also due to compete in the 400m later in the competition. Petrillo won two bronze medals at last year's World Para Athletics Championships, and has vowed to be a 'role model' for other athletes after being picked to compete at the Paralympics.
