Rob McElhenney Files to Legally Change His Name to 'Rob Mac'New Foto - Rob McElhenney Files to Legally Change His Name to 'Rob Mac'

Rob McElhenney is making it legal: The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Welcome to Wrexham" star has legally filed in Los Angeles to change his name to "Rob Mac." Mac confirmed the news toVarietyon Friday; it was first reported by TMZ. Varietyreaders won't be surprised by the news; Mac first revealed the plan in acover story last month. More from Variety 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' Season 17 Trailer Teases 'Abbott Elementary,' 'Golden Bachelor' Crossovers 'Welcome to Wrexham' Renewed for Season 5 at FX as Spinoff 'Necaxa' With Eva Longoria Sets Summer Premiere Why 'It's Always Sunny' for Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson: A Power Couple Who Juggle Four Hit TV Shows, a Winning Soccer Team and Ryan Reynolds At the time, Mac told us he might be changing his name to that easier pronunciation. "People already call me 'Rob Mac' or 'Mac,' obviously from the TV show. It just makes things so much easier," he said. Eagle-eyed reporters may have noticed that all of FX's recent press releases for both "Sunny" and "Wrexham" have already started crediting him as "Rob Mac," so it was all leading up to this. "McElhenney" has never been easy for people to say, so much so that Mac's "Wrexham" partner Ryan Reynolds created an entire music video last year for Mac's birthday as a pronunciation primer. (It really is quite simple: Say it as "Mackle-Henney.") But as Mac's new company More Better Industries has upped its global investments, including a pair of soccer teams in Colombia and Mexico, in addition to stakes in apparel, tech and alcohol companies, he found that his last name was a constant source of confusion. That's why, "as our business and our storytelling is expanding into other regions of the world and other languages in which my name is even harder to pronounce, I'm just going by Rob Mac," he said. "As I get older, and people are more prone to calling me 'Mr.' or' Sir,' I just say Rob or Rob Mac. And I find that that makes things a lot simpler and easier. People already call me Rob Mac or Mac, obviously, from the television show and it just makes things so much easier." Before committing to the change, Mac was worried that he might be disrespecting his ancestry. "I did a deep dive into my my ancestry, and so I was always very proud of the name, which is why I didn't change it in the beginning, when everybody was begging me to," he said. "When you're first starting out, they're like, 'let's just have a stage name.'" But he recently discovered even some relatives had tweaked "McElhenney" over the years. "It turns out, as I did my genealogy and I got it back, my last name has been changed so many times. As late as the '60s, there were an offshoot of the McElhenneys that changed our name. And so it's not like everybody was so precious about it prior to 1965." And when family members dropped by to celebrate his birthday earlier this year, they admitted that they were eager to change the name as well. "My brother said, 'I was actually considering running for government in Culver City, and I was going to be 'Pat Mac,'" he said. Mac's sister Katie, who has written on "Sunny" and "Mythic Quest" (Mac's fantastic Apple TV+ show that was recently canceled after four seasons), also revealed that "'literally every person in the world calls me Katie Mac.'" It had become quite the hot topic at home, where Mac's wife, "Sunny" and "High Potential" star Kaitlin Olson, admitted that their young teens are kind of embarrassed by the idea and not  quite on board just yet. "The kids are really not happy about it, because they have that last name," she said this spring. "And so do I, legally!" Mac's "Sunny" co-star Glenn Howerton hadn't heard about all of this whenVarietytalked to him in May, but said at the time it reminded him of how Mac broke the news that he had the audacious idea of buying a soccer team in the UK. "You could be telling me something that he's joking about, or you could be telling me something where he could be in downtown L.A. changing his name right now for all I know," he said. And now, that's exactly what he's doing. Rams' Jared Verse says Eagles have best opposing fan base after saying he hates themNew Foto - Rams' Jared Verse says Eagles have best opposing fan base after saying he hates them

Jared Verse of the Los Angeles Rams made his feelings about Philadelphia Eagles fans known in January, telling Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, "I hate Eagles fans. They're so annoying. I hate Eagles fans." The Eagles and their fans got the last laugh days later when Philadelphia beat the Rams with a28-22 victoryto advance to the NFC championship game. Verse would record four tackles, three for lossand two sacksin the defeat. Now after experiencing Eagles fans as an NFL rookie, Verse, who lived a few hours north of Philadelphia during his high school playing days, is showing respect to one of the league's most boisterous fan bases. In an interview withCasey Rieger of Whistle Sportsthis week, Verse said that the Eagles are the best opposing fan base and have the toughest crowd to play in front of at Lincoln Financial Field. "I've got to give them that," Verse said. "It's just because I like when you kind of get into it, you're aggressive, you're loud. They stand by that with no doubt." "Playing the Eagles is like playing your rival in college because you never know what they're going to say and they're going to try to say disrespectful stuff," Verse said. "Don't get me wrong, they're not going to say anything where it's like, 'Bro, you crossed the line.' But they're going to say something where you're like, 'Hey, who you talking to?'" Verse expressing respect won't change the minds of any Eagles fans when they see one another again. The two sides won't have to wait long to get reacquainted. The Week 3 schedule for the upcoming season will see the Rams visit Philadelphia for the first time since their playoff matchup. Despite his battles with Eagles fans, it was a fruitful rookie season for the 24-year-old Verse. After being selected 19th overall out of Florida State in the 2024 draft, the linebacker went on to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and earn his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants "cast: See what the coming-of-age classic's stars are up to 20 years later

Diyah Pera/Warner Bros. Friendship perhaps never fit as well as it did inThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, the coming-of-age favorite that turned 20 this month. Adapted from Ann Brashares' 2001 novel, the 2005 sleepover staple starsAlexis Bledel,America Ferrera,Blake Lively, andAmber Tamblynas lifelong friends gearing up to spend their first summer apart. But they remain connected through the titular traveling pants, which, due to some unaccountable sartorial magic, fit each of them perfectly. As the girls endure transformative experiences alone, they keep their bond alive by each taking turns with the pants. Speaking withEntertainment Weeklylast month ahead of the film's anniversary, directorKen Kwapismade pains to point out how the four leads have stayed close in the decades since production wrapped. "I think fans would be surprised to know that those four actors were strangers to each other when they first met, because almost instantly they created this sense of a lifelong friendship, such a lived-in relationship," Kwapis said. He's not kidding. Do any other castsreunite as much as the cast of theSisterhood of the Traveling Pants? Granted, what we call a "reunion" is probably what they just call "hanging out." As we wait for their next reunion —or that potential third movie— let's check in on what theSisterhood of the Traveling Pantscast has been up to in the two decades since the film's release. Diyah Pera/Warner Bros.; JC Olivera/Variety via Getty Alexis Bledel starred inThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsas Lena, a born romantic and aspiring artist. She reprised the role in the 2008 sequel,The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Speaking with EW at acast reunion in 2013, the actress admitted she was put off by the film's title at first. "Then you read it, and the characters were so well crafted and they seemed like such real people that I think we all ended up giving it a second look because of that," she said. In 2005, Bledel's career was already off to the races due to her turn as Rory Gilmore onGilmore Girls(2000–2007). She followed her performance inSisterhood of the Traveling Pantswith roles in films such asPost Grad(2009),The Conspirator(2010), andJenny's Wedding(2015). She would go on to win an Emmy in 2017 for her work as Emily Malek on Hulu'sThe Handmaid's Tale(2017–2021). While shooting her moving arc on the fifth season ofMad Men(2012), Bledel struck up a relationship withVincent Kartheiser, who played Pete Campbell on the series. The couple married in June 2014, and Bledel gave birth to a son the following year. In 2022, Bledel and Kartheiserdivorcedafter eight years of marriage. Diyah Pera/Warner Bros.; Arturo Holmes/Getty America Ferrera played Carmen, a child of divorce who is the most dogged about sustaining the sisterhood's bond. She reprised the role forThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. FollowingThe Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ferrera landed the lead role in ABC'sUgly Betty(2006–2010), playing Betty Suarez across four seasons and winning both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance. Related:The 15 best America Ferrera movies and TV shows, ranked Ferrera has remained a consistent presence on TV, leading series likeDreamWorks Dragons(2012–2018) andSuperstore(2015–2021) while guesting on the likes ofThe Good Wife(2011–2013) andCurb Your Enthusiasm(2017). On film, she voiced Astrid in theHow to Train Your Dragonfranchise (2011–2019), and scored an Academy Award nomination for her turn in 2023's megahitBarbie. Joe Lederer/Warner Bros. She released a book,American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures,in 2018, the same year she announced her first pregnancy (with the help of herTraveling Pantspals). "We've been a part of each other's lives in really meaningful ways that go beyond making a movie together," Ferrera told EW in 2013. "We almost forget that we made a movie together because our friendship was created from so many other experiences. The fact that our friendship started in this beautiful film that was so meaningful to all of us and to our lives and our careers and to our friendship, we are always so grateful for it." Diyah Pera/Warner Bros.; Jeff Spicer/Getty Blake Lively starred in bothSisterhoodand its sequel as the impulsive and athletic Bridget. "I got to that audition and they gave me the lines right there, and it was 10 pages. It was the scene where I opened up for the first time about my mom committing suicide," Lively revealed to EW in 2013. "So it was very shocking to have that be the audition scene. I did it, and it went really well." Since the film's release, Lively entered a new realm of fame by starring as Serena van der Woodsen onGossip Girl(2007–2012) and highlighting her range in projects as diverse as rom-comNew York, I Love You(2008), Boston crime dramaThe Town(2010), and survival horror thrillerThe Shallows(2015). Related:Blake Lively didn't realize watchingThe Bad Seedas a kid was making her sick Over the last decade, Lively's star power has grown with roles inA Simple Favor(2018) and its 2025 sequel, as well as with her close association with pop iconTaylor Swift. Lively directed Swift's 2021 music video,"I Bet You Think About Me,"and the singer is the godmother to Lively's three daughters, whom Lively shares with her husband, actorRyan Reynolds. They also have a son. In 2024, Lively found herself in amessy, highly publicized legal battlethat stemmed from her work onIt Ends With Us, in which she starred and served as an executive producer. Lively alleges thatJustin Baldoni, the film's director and her costar, sexually harassed her and launched a smear campaign against her.Baldoni countersuedfor extortion, defamation, and breach of contract, though that suit hassince been thrown out. Amidst the legal drama, Ferrera, Tamblyn, and Bledelshared a joint statementin support of Lively. "As Blake's friends and sisters for over twenty years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation," it reads. Diyah Pera/Warner Bros.; Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Amber Tamblyn starred as Tibby, who, with her green-streaked hair and resentful attitude, is among the more rebellious girls in the sisterhood. She reprised the role in the 2008 sequel. "[America and I] were the first ones cast, I believe. I remember it like it was yesterday, truly, meeting America for the first time," Tamblyn told EW in 2013. "I met her at the auditions for Blake's role. I came in and there was a green room and there was this table where we were just waiting, and we met and talked and got to know each other and were like, 'Okay, we're doing this movie together.'" Few in Hollywood can play a weasel like Whitford, who's portrayed despicable characters in everything fromRevenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise(1987) andBilly Madison(1995) to Jordan Peele's horror hitGet Out(2017), in which his character offered one of our most enduring memes by declaring he "would have voted for Obama for a third term" if he could. Of course, Whitford is likely best known as Josh Lyman on NBC'sThe West Wing(1999–2006), a role that nabbed him an Emmy in 2001. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa faces massive pressure in 2025New Foto - Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa faces massive pressure in 2025

Editor's note: This story is a part of a series by USA TODAY Sports called Project: June. We will publish at least one NFL-themed story every day throughout the month because fans know the league truly never sleeps. In many ways,Miami DolphinsquarterbackTua Tagovailoais a dream player. He's talented and tough. He's a strong leader. He's a good person. There are no issues off the field. He's thrown 73 touchdowns total over the last three seasons. Tagovailoa has done a solid job of being the face of a proud franchise trying to regain greatness it hasn't seen in decades. Offensive lineman Terron Armstead, who before going to Miami played with quarterback Drew Brees in New Orleans, said Tagovailoa and Brees have similar games. Armstead was, of course, careful to say that Tagovailoa has a lot more to prove. He made his comments on the"Rich Eisen Show." "I see similarities. I'm not saying they're the same player or same person, no two people are," Armstead said. "The anticipation, the accuracy, timing of throws, the ability to knock a wing off a fly repeatedly. Those guys throw darts. They don't throw to areas, they are very precise. And that's an elite talent, it's an elite trait. Very few people possess (it). He's one of them and Drew Brees is another." That's all the good part. And it's all quite good. The problem is that Tagovailoa hasn't broken through as an elite player. Lots of players aren't elite but Tagovailoa was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 draft. He's been injury prone, missing key games with a variety of ailments, most notably some frightening head injuries. Tagovailoa just hasn't broken through as a great player. A solid one. At times a really good one. But not a consistently great one. He's not alone. Look at some other quarterbacks in the league like Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence and the Chargers' Justin Herbert. But I have an obsession with Tagovailoa (a healthy one, promise) because he perfectly embodies all of the complexities of both the NFL overall and the quarterback position. He's been good, but not outstanding. He's had, at best, OK head coaches. Good receivers but one of them, Tyreek Hill, is a massive problem away from the field. Running game has had its moments. Same for the defense. But there's little that would cause you to look at the Dolphins and say: that team is on its way. They are extremely average and Tagovailoa hasn't been able to lift them above that mediocrity. All of this leads to a crucial juncture for him and the Dolphins. What will Miami do if Tagovailoa struggles in 2025? "Yeah, he has narratives in front of him that have to be answered," Armstead said. "Not necessarily by me or in an interview form, it's from him, and his play, and getting the job done. Any quarterback or any team that (doesn't) hoist that trophy at the end of the year, you have questions, you have narratives, you have challenges, you have adversity, you have things to answer. Only team that don't really have that is Philly. Everybody else, they have their questions going into the season. Tua has his questions, and it's up to him to answer these questions — not me. "Do I believe he can? I do. Do I believe he will? I do." Coach Mike McDaniel spoke about the larger goals for Tagovailoa this coming season at one of the Dolphins' recent OTAs. "He's the franchise quarterback of a team,"said McDaniel."His job is to lead men on each and every play, and find different ways to continue the process of evolution for him. That's always been the name of the game for him, whether that's getting the offense to the line of scrimmage faster out of the huddle or whether that's adjusting protections, doing sight adjustments, growing his game, working on progressions, escaping the pocket and getting rid of (the ball)." He added: "All of the things a quarterback is asked to do, I think that's where he's at. He's dipped his toe in the water with everything, and now it's consistency and mastery. That's why it's a never-ending exercise." More:Tyreek Hill says he doesn't deserve to be Dolphins captain, has to prove himself again McDaniel is saying exactly what I am except in a fancier, more coach-speak way. It's time for Tagovailoa to show true captaincy of the position. Miami has paid Tagovailoa well (and he's earned it). He'll make almost $150 million through 2026.The contract is costly but far from impossible to walk away from. Which makes this coming season for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins an interesting one to watch. All the NFL news on and off the field.Sign up for USA TODAY's 4th and Monday newsletter. Irish rap group Kneecap plays at Glastonbury despite criticismNew Foto - Irish rap group Kneecap plays at Glastonbury despite criticism

PILTON, England (AP) — Irish-language rap group Kneecap performed to tens of thousands of people Saturday at theGlastonbury Festivaldespite criticism by British politicians and a terror charge for one of the trio. Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, has been charged under the Terrorism Act with supporting a proscribed organization for allegedlywaving a Hezbollah flagat a concert in London in November. He's on unconditional bail before a further court hearing in August. "Glastonbury, I"m a free man!" Ó hAnnaidh shouted as Kneecap took the stage at Glastonbury's West Holts field, which holds about 30,000 people. A scattering of Palestinian flags flew in the capacity crowd before the show, which opened with an audio montage of news clips referring to the band's critics and legal woes. The Belfast trio has been praised for invigorating the Irish-language cultural scene in Northern Ireland, but also criticized for lyrics laden with expletives and drug references, and for political statements. The band draws, often satirically, on the language and imagery of the Irish republican movement and Northern Ireland's decades of violence. It has faced criticism since videos emerged allegedly showing the band shouting "up Hamas, up Hezbollah" and calling on people to kill lawmakers. Members of the group say they don't support Hezbollah or Hamas, nor condone violence, and Ó hAnnaidh says he picked up a flag that was thrown onto the stage without knowing what it represented. Kneecap has accused critics of trying to silence the band, because of its support for the Palestinian cause throughout thewar in Gaza. Several Kneecap gigs have been canceled as a result of the controversy. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, when asked by a journalist, that it wouldn't be "appropriate" for the festival to give Kneecap a platform. Opposition Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch said the publicly funded BBC shouldn't broadcast "Kneecap propaganda." The BBC, which airs many hours of Glastonbury performances, said it wouldn't show Kneecap's set live, but would "look to make an on-demand version of Kneecap's performance available on our digital platforms" afterward. About200,000 ticket holdershave gathered at Worthy Farm in southwest England for Britain's most prestigious summer music festival, which features almost 4,000 performers on 120 stages. Headline acts performing over three days ending Sunday include Neil Young, Charli XCX, Rod Stewart, Busta Rhymes, Olivia Rodrigo and Doechii. Glastonbury highlights on Friday included a performance from U.K. rockers The 1975, an unannounced set by New Zealand singer Lorde, a raucous reception for Gen X icon Alanis Morissette and an emotional return for Scottish singerLewis Capaldi, two years after he took a break from touring to adjust to the impact of the neurological condition Tourette syndrome.
