Terry Bradshaw isn't afraid to talk about the dollars and cents when it comes to his profession. The four-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback has remained involved with the game following his 14 seasons with thePittsburgh Steelers— becoming a familiar face for the NFL on Fox. While the network is transitioning afterJimmy Johnson's retirement, Bradshawpreviously sharedhis desire to stay on the air until 2029 — when Fox hosts the Super Bowl again. He would be 80 years old, a number the 76 year old is targeting to wrap up his broadcasting career. Bradshaw was one of the original members for the NFL on Fox crew that launched in 1994 and he discussed his current employers during an appearance on the "To the Point – Home Services Podcast," which is a show dedicated to "marketing and operational solutions to help your service company grow." "Did you see the numbers they did?" Bradshaw asked the audience, in reference tothe Super Bowl viewership numbers. "The largest Super Bowl in history. 126 million people. There's 330 million people in America. That is a ton. The Fox pregame show averaged 28 million for five hours. Who in the world is gonna sit around and watch that mess for five hours? 28 million." The former Steeler pointed out those numbers translated to some big money. "You know how much money they made? God. More money than plumbers, I can assure you that. 28 million. And I guarantee you, if I go in there and ask for a raise, 'Well, we don't have any ... we're running a little tight.' Well, you just paid Tom Brady $37 million a year. I'll take it. I did some bad deals, that's what it was." Bradshaw also spoke about his early career in football, comparing the contracts to today's game. Despite being the No. 1 pick in the1970 NFL Draft, Bradshaw noted that he made $25,000 in his first season with the Steelers and worked as a used car salesman during the offseason. Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick in the2025 NFL Draft, signed a contract worth $48.8 million with the Tennessee Titans. His contract carries an average value of $12.2 million — an indication of how much things have changed in the last 55 years. Players aren't the only ones who have seen their value explode over the years. Broadcasters such as Brady have seen their salaries increase exponentially as well. It's unclear what Bradshaw's salary is, but Brady has a sizable lead on ESPN's Troy Aikman, who checks in at $18 million a year, and NBC's Cris Collinsworth, who makes around $12.5 million a year. Brady was often criticized for his performance in the broadcast booth last season, especially when considering the contract Fox awarded him. The common belief is that no one is tuning into a broadcast to listen to a specific announcer, but companies believe there is value in paying for what they see as the best. Now that it's out there, time will tell if Bradshaw's remarks have any impact on his bottom line. All the NFL news on and off the field.Sign up for USA TODAY's 4th and Monday newsletter. Report: NFL, NFLPA agreed to hide critical details of arbitrator's ruling on collusion hearing regarding player payNew Foto - Report: NFL, NFLPA agreed to hide critical details of arbitrator's ruling on collusion hearing regarding player pay

Two weeks after news broke thatthe NFL encouraged team owners to limit guaranteed moneyin player contracts,ESPN has reportedthat the players' union worked in tandem with the league to hide crucial details from players of an arbitration ruling regarding the alleged collusion. Per the report from ESPN published Wednesday, NFLPA leadership reached a confidentiality agreement with the NFL to keep secret the details of a 61-page ruling by arbitrator Christopher Droney that determined that league executives including commissioner Roger Goodell urged team owners to reduce guaranteed player compensation. The hearing took place in the wake of a fully guaranteed $230 million contract between quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns. That 61-page ruling has since been revealedin reporting by journalists Pablo Torre and Mike Florio. In his ruling,Droney determined that the NFLPA showed"by a clear preponderance of the evidence" that Goodell and NFL general counsel Jeff Pash urged teams to reduce guaranteed money in player contracts. "There is little question that the NFL Management Council, with the blessing of the Commissioner, encouraged the 32 NFL Clubs to reduce guarantees in veterans' contracts at the March 2022 annual owners' meeting,"Droney's ruling reads, per Torre and Florio. Despite reaching that conclusion, Droney ruled in favor of the NFL, declaring that he could not prove by a "clear preponderance" that NFL teams acted on that advice. Since Watson signed his contract, quarterbacks including Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson and now two-time MVP Lamar Jackson have signed lucrative contracts. None of them included fully guaranteed money such as Watson's. Jackson re-signed with the Ravens following prolonged negotiations anddidn't receive a competing offerdespite being therare elite quarterback to be eligible to negotiate with other teams. What ESPN's reporting states is that the NFLPA reached a confidentiality agreement with the NFL to suppress such details as Droney's determination that the league encouraged owners to reduce contract guarantees. The confidentially agreement is in conflict with the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and NFLPA that states that that members of the NFLPA's executive committee and player reps have the right to receive copies of all arbitration rulings. Per the terms of the agreement, the 61-page ruling "was to be shared only with league and union lawyers and a handful of senior union and league executives while the NFLPA considered its next legal move," according to the report. Droney was aware of the confidentiality agreement, per the report, citing multiple sources. He declined to comment to ESPN, per the report. Instead, per the report, players were informed of the broad strokes of the ruling, including that Droney ultimately ruled in favor of the NFL. Why the NFLPA would have done this is not clear. But the report casts a further shadow over executive director Lloyd Howell Jr., whohas been under increased scrutinysince taking the role in 2023. From ESPN's report, citing "several sources" who were briefed on a meeting between Howell and the NFLPA's executive committee of 10 active players and president Jalen Reeves-Maybin: "Howell informed the committee that the NFLPA had lost its collusion grievance but did not share any details of Droney's findings or share copies of the ruling with the players. Instead, he blamed his predecessor, DeMaurice Smith, for wasting resources on the three-year legal battle." To provide context for the gravity of the reported confidentiality agreement, ESPN spoke with Peter Ginsberg, a longtime attorney who has represented NFL players. "As the head of the union, Lloyd has an obligation to protect the best interests of the players," Ginsberg said. "By agreeing to a confidentiality agreement, the union purposefully blocked the players from receiving crucial information about the operations of the NFL. "The NFL and the union should not be conspiring together to keep important information from the players." Citing an unnamed senior union source, ESPN reported on Wednesday that the NFLPA decided on Tuesday to appeal Droney's ruling, nearly six months after it was issued and two weeks after Torre's and Florio's reports made the full contents of his ruling public. "The appeal is a reflection of our obligation to enforce the CBA and our commitment to protecting our players' interests," the source said, per ESPN. "We'll do what's best for players, and we'll exhaust our options in doing so." The NFLPA declined to answer questions on the record from ESPN regarding the grounds for its appeal or why it waited until Tuesday to file it, according to the report. An NFL spokesperson also declined comment to ESPN on Wednesday, per the report. Howell has not publicly addressed the findings of ESPN's report.

"Night at the Museum" reboot to revive a new set of historical figures with Shawn Levy producing

20th Century Fox Welcome back to the night shift. ANight at the Museumreboot is in development at  20th Century Studios,Entertainment Weeklyhas learned. Original franchise directorShawn Levyis set to produce the film alongside his frequent collaborator Dan Levine, under their 21 Laps Entertainment banner. Emily Morris will produce for the studio. StuberandDie Hartwriter Tripper Clancy has been tapped to pen the script, with a director not yet attached. Though specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is set to tell a fresh story with a new set of characters. Deadline first broke the news. Kerry Brown/20th Century Fox The franchise originally kicked off with 2006'sNight at the Museum, which starredBen Stilleras a divorced father in desperate need of a new job when he accepts a position as a night guard at the Museum of Natural History. He soon discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits to come to life at night, forcing him to step up and find some order in the chaos. Stiller starred alongsideRobin Williams,Owen Wilson,Ricky Gervais,Dick Van Dyke, andRami Malek, with later films including such additions asAmy Adams,Bill Hader, andRebel Wilson. The comedy adventure spawned two sequels also helmed by Levy: 2009'sNight at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonianand 2014'sNight at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. A fourth entry came in the form of the animated feature,Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, directed by Matt Danner. Doane Gregory/20th Century Fox Prior to helming hisNight at the Museumtrilogy, Levy was known for directing successful comedies includingBig Fat Liar,Cheaper By the Dozen, andThe Pink Panther. The success of the Stiller-fronted comedies (which grossed a collective $1.3 billion) propelled his career forward, but reflecting on the project in 2022, Levy said directingNight at the Museumwas a "daunting opportunity" from the very start. "It was asking me to build a world with visual effects and spectacle that was beyond anything I'd done," he toldSyFy. "But I finally got my head out of my ass for long enough to say, 'Yes.' It led to huge creative growth, it led to a chance to work with 30-some odd actors over the course of that franchise, who are both legendary and now many of whom are dear friends. But the success of those movies really changed my life because it penetrated the global culture in a way that I've never experienced before." Want more movie news? SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Bryce Harper homered and doubled three times, Jesús Luzardo struck out seven and gave up three hits in seven innings, and the Philadelphia Phillies kept Justin Verlander winless with a 13-0 rout of the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Verlander (0-7), the 42-year-old right-hander in his first year with the Giants, gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits in six innings. The three-time Cy Young Award winner struck out seven and did not issue a walk. It was his 15th start of the season and his longest previous streak of starts without a win was seven. The Phillies scored an unearned run in the second before Harper opened the fourth with his 10th homer, taking Verlander to left field. Harper led off the sixth with a double, igniting Philadelphia's two-run inning. He doubled twice in the eighth inning when the Phillies broke open the game with seven runs off San Francisco's bullpen. The big blow was a three-run homer by Kyle Schwarber off Scott Alexander, Schwarber's 29th homer of the season. Mike Yastrzemski, normally an outfielder, pitched the ninth for the Giants. He gave up two runs but got Harper on a foul popup to end the inning. Key moment The Giants' lone threat against Luzardo (8-5) came in the second when they had runners at first and second with one out before the lefty struck out Jung Hoo Lee and Luis Matos. Key stat The game was Verlander's sixth quality start (at least six innings pitched, no more than three earned runs allowed) of 2025. Up next Philadelphia LHP Ranger Suárez (7-2, 1.99 ERA) will start at San Diego on Friday night. Also on Friday, the Giants and RHP Logan Webb (8-6, 2.62) host the Dodgers and RHP Dustin May (5-5, 4.52). ___ AP MLB:https://apnews.com/hub/mlb

Why PSG's pummeling of Real Madrid shouldn't be alarming or surprisingNew Foto - Why PSG's pummeling of Real Madrid shouldn't be alarming or surprising

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — On paper, it was superclub against superclub, Real Madrid against Paris Saint-Germain, filthy rich against limitlessly rich. It was 2025 European champions against 2024 champions. It was two of thefive most valuable squads, and two of thetop three moneymaking clubs, in soccer. So it was surprising, perhaps even stunning, thatPSG pumped four goals past Real Madrid, and pounded the longtime kings of Europe, 4-0, in a Club World Cup semifinal. But it shouldn't have been. "They're only getting started with their new head coach," PSG manager Luis Enrique said, through an interpreter, of Madrid after Wednesday's game. "And we have already been working on this for two years. So, these are different situations." The two clubs are similar in stature, similar in talent, similar in ambition. But on the field, on July 9, 2025, one is a potent final product; the other is embryonic. One is a finely tuned 11-piece machine. The other was, more or less, 11 pieces. Xabi Alonso is trying to construct something with Real Madrid. When he took over as head coach last month, he immediately stressed the importance of "balance" and "commitment." In modern soccer, he said, "everyone must be involved in every phase." He'd inherited a team that was disjointed, with attackers who didn't defend and defenders who compensated. He wanted to change that. "I want a team that's united," he said. He wants, in other words, what PSG has. A "group [that all] goes in the same direction," as PSG fullback Achraf Hakimi said Wednesday. "The success we've had this year," Fabián Ruiz said in Spanish, "is the collective work of all the players." "We all work together," Enrique said. "That's the idea. On attack, and on defense." Alonso and Real Madrid fans wanted it right away, but they know he'll need time to build it.That's what Enrique did over the past two years. That's what Alonso hasn't been able to do, because he was thrown right into a competition, this Club World Cup, after less than two weeks with his new players on the training ground. "These are two different projects," Enrique said through an interpreter. "Xabi's has just begun. Xabi has shown his level [as a coach] with other teams. But of course, they need some time, they need a preseason. There's no analysis to be done here, no assessment. They haven't had a chance to work." So, why didn't we see this beatdown coming? Because there are countless examples in soccer of talent winning out. There have been thousands of games decided in a few brief moments, moments in which players like Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior thrive, often against the broader flow of play. But at this uber-elite level, the talent must be connected — by tactics, by supporting casts, by shared identities and visions. On Wednesday, "the key was the way that we faced the game ... the clear way that we had in our mind what to do," PSG midfielder Vitinha said. "Like every game, we always try to do the same, to press every time, to control the game when we have the ball." They, too, have brilliant players, but they shut down Madrid "thanks to the collective effort of the team," Hakimi said. So it's no wonder that Alonso wants to shape Real Madrid in a similar mold. That's not to say hisBlancoswill press as ravenously as PSG. That's not to say his fullbacks will attack as purposefully as PSG's do. He is his own man with his own ideas and unique personnel at his disposal. This is not to say Real Madrid is trying to become PSG. But the way thatEnrique tore down a star-driven squad to build a nearly unbeatable one? The way he "put the team before everyone," as Hakimi said Wednesday? The way he implores and requires his best attacking players to defend, and his best defensive players to attack, and his midfielders to do everything? That is the shift that Alonso is trying to engineer. "We want to build a team. A team that plays as a unit, with everyone playing together, everyone being involved with that feeling and that spirit," Alonso said. He simply hasn't yet had an opportunity to engineer it. He suggested multiple times Wednesday that the team's belated start of preseason later this month, after a brief vacation, will be like "starting from scratch." This Club World Cup, therefore, was something less than scratch. As much as he tried to introduce his ideas, short-term goals overrode them. Four wins and a draw, in the end, were a decent haul. A semifinal against the world's best team, though — a team that multiple reporters labeled "unbeatable" Wednesday, a team on track to win every winnable trophy in 2025 — was a step too far. "Today," Alonso said, "we must accept that [PSG] are in a really good moment, and we are starting out a new stage." PSG, on the other hand, has "been working with [the same] coach for two years, with the same philosophy," as Hakimi said. "And the truth is, we're happy with how things are going, with the dynamics of the team. We feel quite good. And we want to continue making history."

'Back to the Future' Writer Reveals Real Reason Why Original Star Was Fired After One Month of Filmingoriginally appeared onParade. Over four decades since its original release to theaters,Back to the Futurecontinues to amaze and delight mainstream audiences across the globe. Quite possibly the most famous film of the 1980s,Back to the Futurehas long since transcended the heights of pop culture, acquiring a fabled place in the hearts and minds of the average movie-goer. Featuring sharp writing, an electric soundtrack, vividly-drawn characters and unforgettable acting performances,Back to the Futureremains, in almost every way, the perfect film. But in its earliest days of filming, the 1985 sci-fi classic might have looked startlingly different. In a recent interview withThe Guardiancommemorating the film's 40th anniversary,Back to the Future's original co-writer, Bob Gale, spoke about the production's abrupt decision to dismiss Eric Stoltz after several weeks of filming. As most dedicatedBack to the Futurefans likely know, Stoltz had been cast in the role of Marty McFly, filming a majority of the character's scenes for four to six weeks of continuous filming. As the 74-year-old Gale revealed toThe Guardian, however, the crew behindBack to the Futureultimately decided to recast Stoltz's starring role in the film, believing he was taking the character "too seriously" for the movie's otherwise light-hearted tone. "He wasn't giving us the kind of humor that we thought the character should have," Gale elaborated. "He actually thought the movie turned out to be a tragedy because he ends up in a 1985 where a lot of his life is different." Fortunately, Gale went on to say that director Robert Zemeckis, who informed Stoltz that he had been removed from the film, told him thePulp Fictionactor was happy to depart from the film. "[Zemeckis] said he thought that possibly Eric was relieved: it was not like a devastating blow to him," Gale said. "This is just hindsight and speculation but maybe Eric's agents thought that it would be a good career move for him to do a movie like this that had Spielberg involved. Who knows?" Following Stoltz's dismissal, Michael J. Fox was promptly cast as the puckish teenage time traveler. The rest, as they say, is history. Yankees designate DJ LeMahieu for assignment, will eat nearly $22M in salaryNew Foto - Yankees designate DJ LeMahieu for assignment, will eat nearly $22M in salary

In a move that figured to eventually arrive the moment theNew York Yankeessigned a 32-year-old infielder to a six-year contract, the club designatedDJ LeMahieufor assignment, cutting him loose on July 9 with nearly two years remaining on that deal. LeMahieu, who turns 37 on July 13, re-signed with the club on a six-year, $90 million deal in January 2021. He was coming off a two-year run with the Yankees during which he batted .336 - including a majors-best .364 during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season - with a .922 OPS and amassed 8.6 WAR. Given their druthers, the Yankees probably didn't want to grant a six-year contract at that point, but spreading the $90 million over six years greatly lessened their luxury tax commitment, to just $15 million per year. But the end came quickly. LeMahieu struggled greatly with injuries during the course of the deal, playing in 150 games just once and seeing his availability shrivel with each passing year, from 136 games played in 2023 to 67 last season and just 45 this year before the Yankees cut bait. They certainly saw a large enough sample last season, when LeMahieu produced a .204/.269/.259 line and a -1.6 WAR. He found a window for playing time this year when Jazz Chisholm missed time with an oblique injury, but manager Aaron Boone indicated on July 8 that LeMahieu likely would be the odd man out for playing time going forward - and that he didn't handle it particularly well. The Yankees will owe LeMahieu roughly $21.6 million - his $15 million salary next season and what's owed him this year. Despite his struggles, it's likely LeMahieu will find a new club once he passes through waivers and can be paid the pro-rated league minimum by the acquiring team. LeMahieu became the first player in the modern era to win batting titles in both leagues, with a .348 average for Colorado in 2016 and .364 for the Yankees in 2020.
