Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez will begin a rehab assignment for Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday, manager Joe Espada said on Sunday. Per Espada, Alvarez will play "a few games" and serve as the Hooks' designated hitter Tuesday as he works his way back from a fractured right hand that has sidelined him for approximately 3 1/2 months. The three-time All-Star returned to Houston on Sunday after completing rehab work at the club's spring training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. Alvarez, 28, is batting just .210 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 29 games this season. He last played in a game with the Astros on May 2. Ambassador: 'I want that Super Bowl in Britain'New Foto - Ambassador: 'I want that Super Bowl in Britain'

The British ambassador to the United States wants the NFL to stage a Super Bowl in Great Britain. "I've made a big pitch for the first Super Bowl outside the U.S. to take place in Britain," Peter Mandelson told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs on Thursday, according to The Times, the oldest national daily newspaper in the U.K. "I want that Super Bowl in Britain. I don't care when it takes place, but I want it announced while I'm ambassador," he added. "We love it, we love it." The NFL has been playing regular-season games in England since 2007, but the jump to hosting a Super Bowl is as big as the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the growing popularity of the league across Europe, Mandelson's interest likely includes a financial component. Net profits for host cities range anywhere from $150 million to $1 billion, depending on the source. Super Bowl LX is scheduled for Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8, 2026, followed by Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., in 2027 and Super Bowl LXII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in 2028. This season's international NFL slate includes games in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Madrid, Spain; Dublin, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; and three in London. --Field Level Media

Sarah Jessica Parker, who has played Carrie Bradshaw in the "Sex and the City" franchise for the past twenty-seven years, has responded to viewers who love to hate-watch the series' latest reboot, "And Just Like That." After theseries' finaleon Aug. 14, Carrie told theNew York Timesthat she doesn't pay the haters much thought. "I don't think I have the constitution to have spent a lot of time thinking about that," she said. "We always worked incredibly hard to tell stories that were interesting or real. I guess I don't really care. And the reason I don't care is because it has been so enormously successful, and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful." Starring Parker alongside Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon as a quartet of gossipy New York City friends, the show garnered over fifty Primetime Emmy Nominations across its six seasons. It also spawned two feature films and a CW prequel series based on Parker's character before "And Just Like That" reunited the original cast (sans Cattrall) in 2023. "And Just Like That" became HBO Max's most-watched series debut upon release; however, it met ambivalent critical responses and subsequent seasons saw diminished viewership. Despite the original series' popularity, audiences scrutinized the reboot for retreading tired, outdated themes while making hollow attempts at updated cultural relevance. Some viewers even took to hate-watching the show, tuning in every week just to gawk at the latest episodes' cringeworthy moments. Just two weeks ahead of the Season 3 finale, HBO announced that the series would wrap and not return for a fourth season. The finale, "Party of One," sees Parker's Carrie exit the show as a single and independent woman. Despite much of Carrie's arc following her complicated relationships, break-ups and affairs, she ends up "on her own." The controversial sendoff met ire from some fans, who saw it as unsatisfying or unbefitting of Carrie's journey. Parker, however, feels good about the ending. When the Times asked her if she liked the decision to end with Carrie on her own, she responded, "Absolutely," and "I feel good about her. I think she's set up pretty well." Regarding the haters, Carrie conceded toPeoplethat "I think you're going to perhaps read things or hear things that don't always feel great." She added, "When you're part of a community, people are going to have a lot of feelings. And it doesn't mean that a feeling can't change, it's a reaction. We want very much for people to have all those feelings, and it's not for us to police or try to correct them." All episodes of "Sex and the City" and "And Just Like That" are available to stream on HBO Max. All the Easter Eggs Taylor Swift Dropped About Doing the Super Bowl Halftime ShowNew Foto - All the Easter Eggs Taylor Swift Dropped About Doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show

THE RUNDOWN Taylor Swift seemingly dropped some Easter eggs on Travis Kelce's podcast. Fans believe she's hinting at a Super Bowl Halftime Show. Her album,The Life of a Showgirl, drops in October. Fans have been clamoring for Taylor Swift to perform at the Super Bowl for ages, but rumors 2026 might finally be the year started swirling after the Eras Tour star appeared on boyfriend Travis Kelce'sNew Heightspodcastthis week. Swifties know that the singer loves to hide "Easter eggs" hinting at her next move in all sorts of places—in her music videos, on her website, during live performances, and now, perhaps, when talking to Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce. To begin with, Swift openly referred to the Super Bowl Halftime Show, saying she has watched every single one, which means the topic is on her mind. But the other hints were not quite so obvious. A big one is that Swift joked that she thinks about sourdough "60% of the time." The San Francisco 49ers are hosting the 60th Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium in 2026, and who is their mascot? Sourdough Sam. Both the number and mention of bread types was abig flagto Swift's fans. Speaking of numbers, Swift mentioned the number 47 during the episode, specifically thanking Jason for his intro and screaming for "47 seconds." Levi's Stadium was Swift's 47th stop on her Eras Tour, leading some listeners to think she would be returning soon. And Swift has talked about 13 being her favorite number in the past, four plus seven is 13, and 2026 will be Travis's 13th NFL season. It all adds up! Finally, Swift has said before that she would not perform a halftime show at the Super Bowl before she owned or rerecorded all of her masters. The star finallybought the original mastersback this year after rerecording several of her iconic albums already. And her newest album,The Life of a Showgirl, is coming out in October, making a February Super Bowl show a perfect moment of public triumph. With contract talks between the Cincinnati Bengals and star defensive end Trey Hendrickson at a standstill, the Bengals are reportedly listening to potential trade offers. TheNFL Networkreported Sunday that Cincinnati is open to trade discussions, whileThe Athleticreported that the team has been listening to trade offers for weeks. The asking price for Hendrickson is reportedly significant, as the Bengals seek defensive players as well as draft capital, per The Athletic. Dianna Russini of The Athletic alsoreportedthat Hendrickson may have netted a better return if Cincinnati had moved him earlier in the offseason, such as when the defensive end wasgiven permission to seek a tradein March. Though the trade never materialized, Hendricksonsaid in May that he would not play on his current dealafter expressing his frustrations that the Bengals had not been communicating with his representation. When it came time for training camp, Hendricksonwas initially a holdout, buteventually reported to campdespite not making progress on a new deal. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Hendrickson told reporters in July thatthe situation had remained "exactly the same"in terms of contract talks, but he decided to attend training camp so he wouldn't be a distraction to his teammates. "I want to help the guys, the guys that have helped me along the way. Demario Davis, Cam Jordan, even Sam Hubbard helped me a lot when I was here. To be that, right now, I think that's what's most important. This [contract] narrative will kinda iron itself out as we continue to progress towards the season," he said at the time. Hendrickson's hold-in comes as defensive stars are getting significant money. In July, Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher T.J. Wattsigned a record three-year, $123 million extension; in March, the Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosbyagreed to a three-year, $106.5 million deal, while Myles Garrett signed an extension with the Cleveland Brownsthat gives him $40 million per year. Hendrickson, meanwhile, is set to earn just under $16 million next season under the current deal. The four-time Pro Bowler earned his first All-Pro selection last year, and is considered one of the best defensive players in the league — and certainly on the Bengals.

Jennifer Aniston Just Dropped a Rare Comment About Her Split from Brad Pitt (& It's So Revealing)New Foto - Jennifer Aniston Just Dropped a Rare Comment About Her Split from Brad Pitt (& It's So Revealing)

It seems like it's been a lifetime sinceJennifer AnistonandBrad Pittwere a pair, but the fact remains that they are still among the most popularHollywood couplesof all time. Ahead of the season four premiere ofThe Morning Show, the 56-year-old actress is doing a little reflecting on her life and career, and sharing her thoughts inVanity Fair'sSeptember issue, where she is the magazine'scover star. While Aniston hasn't spoken much about her very public divorce from Pitt, theFriendsstar made a rare remark in a video clip for the shoot, where she briefly commented onThe Breakup, the 2006 movie she did with Vince Vaughn, which was filmed primarily in 2005. "I might've just gone through a separation," Aniston said jokingly. "That little separation, I'm sure nobody remembers that," she added. She continued, "It was kind of cathartic to go right from that. So when they came to me with the offer, they were a little nervous about making the offer because they thought, 'Oh, is that insensitive? Is it inappropriate?' But I actually thought, 'What a great opportunity.'" Her final reason for taking the part, she says, was that she knew it "would benefit her emotionally," and "serve the script and the character pretty well." James Devaney/GC Images/Getty Images The revelations didn't stop there, as in her actual interview, Aniston spoke about the media circus that surrounded the infamous love triangle between her, Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Calling it a "vulnerable time." The star added, "It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn't have their soap operas, they had their tabloids…it was a shame it had to happen, but it happened. And boy, did I take it personally." Breakups are no fun (especially when all eyes are on you), but it's safe to say that Aniston bounced back nicely. Conan O'Brien says late-night TV will 'disappear' after Colbert cancellationNew Foto - Conan O'Brien says late-night TV will 'disappear' after Colbert cancellation

Conan O'Brienisn't optimistic about thefuture of late-night TVas we know it. During aspeech at the Television Academy Hall of Fame ceremonyon Saturday, Aug. 16, the comedian predicted the current late-night television format will go away, but stressed that thecomics who host those showsstill have a bright future in the industry. "Late-night television, as we have known it since around 1950, is going to disappear," O'Brien said. "But those voices are not going anywhere. People like Stephen Colbert are too talented, and too essential, to go away. It's not going to happen. He's not going anywhere. Stephen is going to evolve and shine brighter than ever in a new format that he controls completely." Join our Watch Party!Sign up to receive USA TODAY's movie and TV recommendations right in your inbox O'Brien's comments came about a month afterCBS announced its shock cancellationof "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," which the network described as "purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night." The move sparked speculation that Colbert's fellow late-night hosts could also be on the chopping block, though no other network has followed CBS' lead since then. After the "Late Show" cancellation, some suggested Colbert could move into podcasting, pointing to O'Brien as a successful example of that pivot. After almost three decades hosting various late-night shows, O'Brien left the format in 2021 with the end of TBS' "Conan" but has stayed active as host of his podcast "Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend." He also stars in the HBO Max travel show "Conan O'Brien Must Go" and hosted the Academy Awards in 2025, withplans to return in the role in 2026. Stephen Colbert is out at CBS.Is all of late-night TV officially doomed? While being inducted into the Hall of Fame, O'Brien joked in his speech, "For those of you under 40, late-night television was a service designed to distract college students until science could perfect the internet and online pornography." Joking aside, the former "Late Night" host shared a positive message in the face of changes in the television landscape. "We're having this event now in a time when there's a lot of fear about the future of television, and rightfully so," he said. "The life we've all known for almost 80 years is undergoing seismic change. But, this might just be my nature, I choose not to mourn what is lost because I think, in the most essential way, what we have is not changing at all." He added, "Streaming changes the pipeline, but the connection, the talent, the ideas that come into our homes? I think it's as potent as ever." 'I would worry about myself':Seth Meyers reveals concern about his show being canceled "Late Night" host Seth Meyers recently sharedhis concerns about the future of late-night TV in an interview on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, which was recorded before the Colbert cancellation. "I shifted from fearing that I wouldn't be good enough, and now, my fear is weirdly more outside of my control, which is at some point, the ecosystem might not support it," Meyers said. "I guess that's better than thinking it's your fault, but it is weird to not feel any control over it." Phillies place ace Zack Wheeler (blood clot) on ILNew Foto - Phillies place ace Zack Wheeler (blood clot) on IL

The Philadelphia Phillies placed three-time All-Star pitcher Zack Wheeler on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a blood clot located near his right shoulder. The news came from Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski less than 24 hours after Wheeler allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in Friday's 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals. "There's not a whole lot we can say on it at this time," Dombrowski said after Saturday's game. "But I commend (the medical staff) for finding this because it could've been a much more trying situation than what it is." The Athletic reported later Saturday that Wheeler, 35, will undergo additional medical tests to find out more about the ailment and whether he could return this season. Wheeler has been an All-Star in back-to-back campaigns. In six seasons with the Phillies, the right-hander has posted a 69-37 record with a 2.91 ERA and 1,094 strikeouts to 220 walks in 979 innings. This season, he has made 24 starts and is 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA and major-league leading 195 strikeouts. Before arriving in Philadelphia, Wheeler spent five seasons with the New York Mets. Veteran Aaron Nola was activated from the 60-day IL on Sunday morning. He will take over the vacant spot in the five-man rotation. Nola, a former All-Star, posted a 3.57 ERA in 33 starts last season, but he got off to a rough start in 2025 with a 6.16 ERA across nine starts. He has battled ankle and rib injuries. --Field Level Media

Jaguars scratch Travis Hunter ahead of preseason game against the SaintsNew Foto - Jaguars scratch Travis Hunter ahead of preseason game against the Saints

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Travis Hunter was scratched Sunday by the Jacksonville Jaguars before their preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner out of Colorado and No. 2 pick in last spring's NFL draft, had missed practice in recent days because of what team officials have described as an upper-body injury. The Jaguars also scratched veteran wide receiver Dyami Brown, although it was not immediately clear why. Hunter and Brown both played in Jacksonville's preseason opener last week, a 31-25 loss to Pittsburgh. Hunter, a rare, two-way player, caught two passes for 9 yards and also participated in eight plays as a defensive back. Brown had 7 yards rushing on an end-around. ___ AP NFL:https://apnews.com/hub/NFL
