The podcast host, 28, asked the rapper if he received abdominal etching, which is a cosmetic procedure type of liposuction "that targets the ab area to make it look more defined," perHealthline. Althoff told him that after aphotofrom June included his well-defined six-pack, people across the internet began to theorize why his body looked different. A movie about the Kabuki theater is a surprise hit in soul-searching JapanNew Foto - A movie about the Kabuki theater is a surprise hit in soul-searching Japan

TOKYO (AP) — A three-hour film about the esoteric world of Kabuki is defying the odds at the Japanese box office, with tickets selling out at some cinemas. "Kokuho," which means "national treasure," has already grossed more than 10 billion yen ($68 million), making it the second-highest grossing Japanese live-action film of all time, and the first to achieve that in more than two decades. It stars heartthrobs Ryo Yoshizawa and Ryusei Yokohama who portray longtime rivals and soulmates. They are both Kabuki "onnagata" actors, meaning they specialize in women roles, from gorgeous princesses to damsels in distress. They look stunning, and convincing, having gone through months of training with a real Kabuki actor. Japan has submitted the film for the international feature category at theAcademy Awards. The short list of the 15 films from which the final nominations come will be announced Dec. 16. "Kohuko" got a favorable reception at the Cannes Film Festival. And it's been seen 7.4 million times in the first 73 days in Japanese theaters, many of them repeat viewers. The plot of "Kokuho" — pronounced Koh-koo-hoe — explores perennial themes of family and the grueling hardships of being an artist, set to the backdrop of the intense but dreamlike life of the Kabuki actor. It also pays homage to old-style yakuza movies, as well as obliquely to Western gangster films, like "The Godfather," because one of the heroes is the son of a gangster. Tales of intrigue and violence In short, it's not the kind of material that usually makes a hit movie in Japan, where action-packed blockbusters or animation based on popular manga comics or spectacular special effects have drawn audiences in the past. But the movie's theme explores something intrinsically Japanese and hit a raw nerve in a country where soul-searching about national pride is on the rise amid a widespread perception that economic and political clout is on the decline. Being an outsider was the theme that jumped out for tourism science scholar Yosuke Kon. "The Kabuki world seems very special, but a Kabuki kind of mentality exists in many places in Japan," he told The Associated Press, noting a closed mentality is prevalent in the village, as well as local governments he has worked with. "Many people can relate to the film," he added. The film is dominated by stage scenes from Kabuki, an art form dating to the 17th century, which combines stylized dance and acting to live music. It's been stereotyped as catering to old people, as younger generations turn to Western and modern forms of entertainment like boys' bands, baseball games and streaming services. In Kabuki, all the roles are played by men, wearing thick makeup and elaborate kimono, delivering sing-song lines in tales of intrigue and violence set in the samurai era. The film shows the dazzling esoteric elements of Kabuki, such as the backstage where actors apply makeup with their fingertips, or the flutter of paper snowflakes or flower petals on the stage. It also reenacts the biggest hits of Kabuki — "Musume Dojoji," in which a vengeful love turns a woman into a serpent, and "Sagi Musume," whereby a heron dances taking the form of woman, a sort of Kabukiesque "Swan Lake." 'Tasteful pursuit of madness' As with many younger Japanese, Sara Akino, a singer, hardly ever goes to the movies, but she was glad she went. "It's about living so true to yourself you are putting your life on the line," she said. People's reactions varied, with everyone seeming to get something slightly different out of it. "The beauty of the cinematography was utterly amazing," said Miho Anzai, a nutritionist, who saw the film after hearing so much about it. She was especially impressed with the younger actors who portrayed the characters as children. "The work was superb in how realistically Kabuki actors and their fiercely strict yet delicate aesthetic were portrayed," she said. Hiroyuki Okada, a teacher in the traditional "ikebana" flower arrangement, said the film gave him a sense of satisfaction as though he had seen high quality theater, and that the characters seemed to represent light and darkness, or the Asian duality of "yin and yang." "I felt the work depicted a tasteful pursuit of madness," he said. Mesmerizing closeups The success of the film has sparked interest in the two-volume best-selling book by Shuichi Yoshida it is based on. Yoshida worked as a stagehand for several years to learn the workings of Kabuki. The film has been brought to the screen by acclaimed director Sang-il Lee, whose credits include the 2007 award-winning film "Hula Girls" and the 2022Apple TVseries "Pachinko," as well as the Japanese-language version of Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven." Cinematographer Sofian El Fani, a Tunisian who worked on the Palme d'Or-winning "Blue is the Warmest Color," presents mesmerizing closeups that highlight the inner turmoil of the characters. His camera angles give a delightfully new and pensive perspective on Kabuki, whose official footage tends to make a point of showing full-body shots. Lee was deeply moved to see people watching his film, glued to the screen. The scene was straight out of the movies, he recalled "There the barriers of generations were gone, living proof that everyone is searching for the moment that truly touches our emotions, knowing how beautiful those tears that flow for no reason can be," he said in a statement. "Films are so wonderful. They are worth the fight." ___ Yuri Kageyama is on Threads:https://www.threads.com/@yurikageyama

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Emmanuel Rivera tied his career high with four RBIs on a pair of two-out singles and Tyler Wells won his season debut for the Baltimore Orioles, who beat San Diego 6-2 on Tuesday night to keep the scuffling Padres from gaining on the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Jeremiah Johnson homered for the second consecutive night and drove in two runs for the Orioles. Baltimore, last in the AL East, has won two straight against the Padres and will go for a series sweep on Wednesday. San Diego, which has lost three in a row and seven of nine, remained 2 1/2 games behind Los Angeles, which lost 9-7 at Pittsburgh. The Padres are a game ahead of the New York Mets for the second of three National League wild cards. Wells (1-0) pitched five innings in his first start since April 12, 2024. He had right elbow UCL surgery a month later. Wells allowed two runs and five hits, struck out four and walked none. Rivera hit a two-run single off Yu Darvish (3-5) over the head of shortstop Mason McCoy with two outs in the third to give the Orioles a 3-0 lead. Ryan Mountcastle and Colton Cowser were aboard on consecutive one-out singles. With two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth, Rivera greeted David Morgan with a single to center field that brought in Gunnar Henderson and Mountcastle to make it 5-2. Jackson homered to left with one out in the first, his fourth. Jackson, who made his big league debut on Aug. 1, also homered in a4-3win Monday. Wells' only big mistake was allowing Luis Arraez's two-run homer with two outs in the third, his seventh. Freddy Fermin was aboard on a double. Key moment Baltimore reliever Rico Garcia came on with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh and got two outs. Key stat Arraez went 144 plate appearances and 32 games between home runs. US Open: Ageless he isn't, but Novak Djokovic keeps digging deep and is still alive for major No. 25New Foto - US Open: Ageless he isn't, but Novak Djokovic keeps digging deep and is still alive for major No. 25

NEW YORK — It seems like the old man has spent roughly half of this US Open hunched over at the waist, grabbing at his neck or rubbing his temple. At one point earlier in the tournament, Novak Djokovic even said in an interview with ESPN that he was more concerned about the state of his body than he'd ever been. It's just what happens when you're 38 years old, having accumulated so many miles on the legs, playing one of the most demanding sports on earth against opponents in their physical prime. It hurts. But when Djokovic takes the court, the pain always goes in two directions. And with only two exceptions, it almost defies explanation how often Djokovic still makes his opponents suffer more. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] It is those two exceptions, however, who once again stand between Djokovic and a 25th major title. It has been that way for a couple years, with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz shoving him aside from Grand Slam glory the way generations before them were unable to do. Now, havingoutlasted the highest-ranked American Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in Tuesday's quarterfinal, it's time to ask: What does Djokovic need to do to hold the US Open trophy one more time? "I have another chance, another shot," he said after Tuesday's victory earned him a trip to the semis, where he'll face Alcaraz. "Everyone is anticipating a finals between the two of them. I'm going to try to mess up the plans. They are definitely playing the best tennis of any player here and they've been dominant since the beginning of the tournament, but I definitely am not going with a white flag on the court. I don't think anybody does when they play them, but particularly not me." Carlos Alcaraz and possibly Jannik Sinner still stand in the way of Novak Djokovic.pic.twitter.com/BQ8FJobiwG — US Open Tennis (@usopen)September 3, 2025 This US Open has largely followed the same script Djokovic has experienced over the last two years. Having cut his schedule to the bare minimum, both to preserve wear-and-tear and spend more time at home with his young children, he shows up at the Grand Slams out of match shape and lacking a feel for the ball. In the first few rounds, it looks like Djokovic is there for the taking but he's still so darned good and tactically superior that he finds a way through. Then, each day the tournament progresses, his endurance builds and shots become more punishing. By the time he gets to the quarterfinals and faces an opponent like Fritz — ranked No. 4 but 0-fer in the majors — he is a reasonable enough facsimile of Peak Djokovic to put even some of the world's best players in a mental torture chamber. Fritz, poor guy, is now 0-for-11 against Djokovic. At 27, he's smack in the middle of his Slam-winning window. But as much as he tells himself he has a better chance every time they play, he's as lost as he was at the beginning trying to figure out how to penetrate Djokovic's game and win enough of the right points. Even Tuesday, after dropping the first two sets, Fritz dug in and felt like he was gathering momentum the longer it went. Djokovic was visibly wearing down. As the match reached nearly 3 ½ hours, Djokovic went all-in at 5-4 in the fourth set, hoping to break Fritz and end the match. Fritz fought off two match points. Djokovic kept grabbing his shorts and gasping for breath. It felt like a moment that could have turned the entire match around if Fritz had just held serve. He couldn't. On the third match point, Djokovic drew a double fault — a microcosm of how Fritz and his late-20s peers simply failed to crack the code. "That's the frustrating thing is I don't need to play that much better to make it happen," said Fritz, who desperately wanted another shot at the US Open title after losing last year's final. "At end of the day, that's one of the things that makes the great players great is they win the big points. I need to go take those points from him. He's not going to hand them over to me, and that's exactly what happened." Of course, the two players Djokovic will likely have to get through to win the title have not struggled with that dynamic. Though Alcaraz has been more vulnerable to him, losing high-profile matchups to Djokovic at last year's Olympics and at the Australian Open this January, he has been impervious at this US Open. Playing the most consistent tennis of his career, the 22-year-old Alcaraz hasn't even come close to dropping a set. Their match Friday in the semifinals will be the ninth time they've played, with Djokovic holding a 5-3 edge. Meanwhile, Sinner has beaten Djokovic five straight times, two of them en route to major titles. The 24-year-old Italian has become almost a stylistic carbon copy of a younger Djokovic, only with more power on his groundstrokes. For Djokovic at this stage of his career, it's perhaps the most nightmarish matchup out there. Under the right circumstances, Djokovic can beat either of them on a given day. But beating them back-to-back for No. 25, at this stage of the game, would arguably be the greatest achievement of his career. "It's not going to get easier, I'll tell you that," he said. "But look, I'm going to try to take one day at a time and take care of my body. Try to relax and recover. The next couple days is key for me to get my body in shape and ready to battle five sets if it's needed. I just would really love to be fit enough to play potentially five sets with Carlos. I know that my best tennis is going to be required, but I like to play big matches on a big stage." Even though making the semifinals of all four majors in 2025 is remarkable given how little Djokovic plays the regular tour, he is realistic enough to know how each year takes a little more out of him. He knows this might be his last, best chance. But at least he's given himself one, and for arguably the greatest winner we've seen in any sport, that's a muscle memory even the aches and pains of being 38 years old can't erase.

"Burn Notice" Alum Gabrielle Anwar Had 'Violent Rages' amid Bipolar Disorder: 'Healing Doesn't Happen Overnight'

Gabrielle Anwar/Instagram Gabrielle Anwar shared her lifelong struggle with bipolar disorder, explaining that her first manic episode occurred when she was 11 TheBurn Noticealum, 54, said she had manic and depressive episodes, and once punched her now-husband during one of her "violent rages" Now that she has found the right medication, she feels like she has a "second chance" to be the "loving, present force" for her granddaughter that she wasn't able to be for her children Gabrielle Anwarshared her lifelong struggle with bipolar disorder, saying she was prone to "violent rages" until she found the right medication. In a personal essay forBusiness Insider, Anwar, 54 said that she was "emotionally unstable" as a child and had her first manic episode at age 11 when she began menstruating. Her behavior got her expelled from school, she said. "Everything was either euphoric or devastating," she recalled. "There was no middle ground." Anwar looked for solace in acting, explaining, "I could channel my emotional extremes into my characters." She found success shortly after moving to Los Angeles, and was just 23 when she filmed the iconic dance scene withAl Pacinoin 1992'sScent of a Woman. Moviestore/Shutterstock But, as theBurn Noticealum wrote, "Behind the scenes, I was drowning." She struggled in relationships, conceiving her first child, Willow, during a one night stand with an ex. Eventually, she says, "I checked myself into a psychiatric hospital. That's when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It was both a relief and a heartbreak. Relief that my pain had a name. Heartbreak that there was no cure." Bipolar disorder is a manic-depressive illness of the brain that causes extreme changes in mood and energy levels, according to theNational Institute of Mental Health. It is largely characterized by manic episodes (periods of elation and hyperactivity), which are then followed by depressive episodes (sadness and depression). Treatment is generally a combination of therapy and medication, but as Anwar writes, "For years, I resisted medication. I was vegan, holistic, and saw pharmaceuticals as a flaw, something shameful. And honestly, I didn't want to lose the highs of mania; they made me feel powerful." But the lows, she writes, were "unbearable," she said. "I experienced violent rages that frightened the people I loved. I once punched my now-husband in the face twice during an episode early in our relationship," she said about financier and Miami restauranteurShareef Malnik. They married in 2015, but as she wrote, "I thought he'd walk away." She was in her 40s when she found "the right medication, the right brand, dosage, and combination. It was a process, and I want people to know that. Healing doesn't happen overnight." Glenn Watson/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty She opened up about feeling like she wasn't a stable parent. "Motherhood was my purpose, but I wasn't always good at it," she said, adding that she will always regret not being emotionally available for her children. But "becoming a grandmother has given me a second chance," and "I get to be the kind of loving, present force for my granddaughter (who was born in 2024) that I wasn't able to be for my kids." "I used to think I was broken. Now I know I'm whole," Anwar concluded. "I'm not perfect, but I'm here, I'm healthy, and I'm doing the work. And that, to me, is the real happy ending." Ohio State climbed to No. 1 inThe Associated Press Top 25college football poll on Tuesday, LSU and Miami moved into the top five, and Florida State jumped back into the rankings at the expense of Alabama, which plummeted to its lowest spot in 17 seasons. The defending national champion Buckeyes received 55 of 66 first-place votes to move up two spots after theirwin over preseason No. 1 Texas. Ohio State is at the top of a regular-season Top 25 for the first time since November 2015. Texas dropped to No. 7 as the media voters shuffled the rankings following a topsy-turvy Labor Day weekend. It was only the second time, and first since 1972, that two top-five teams lost in Week 1 and the first time four top-10 teams lost. Only three teams in the Top 25 are in the same spot they were in the preseason poll. Penn State got seven first-place votes and remained No. 2. LSU, which received three first first-place votes, was followed by Georgia and Miami to round out the top five. Oregon got the other first-place vote and was followed by Texas, Clemson, Notre Dame and South Carolina. LSU jumped six spots afterwinning at Clemsonand Miami got a five-rung promotion for itsvictory over Notre Dame. The biggest movers in the poll were Florida State and Alabama after the Seminoles'31-17victory in their head-to-head matchup: Florida State, 15 spots outside the Top 25 in the preseason, is now No. 14. Alabama dropped all the way from No. 8 to No. 21 — its lowest ranking since it was No. 24 in the 2008 preseason poll. That was the second of Nick Saban's 17 teams in Tuscaloosa. It's been quite a turnabout for Florida State. The Seminoles were No. 10 in the 2024 preseason, lost their first two games, finished 2-10 and weren't ranked again until now. In and out Utah, at No. 25, joins Florida State as the only newcomers this week. The Utes had received the second-most points, behind BYU, among teams outside the preseason Top 25.Utah got more credit for beating UCLA 43-10 on the roadthan BYU got for hammering FCS foe Portland State. The Utes are ranked for the first time since last October, when they were at the front end of a seven-game losing streak. Boise State, which had been No. 25, received no votes following its34-7 loss at South Florida. The Broncos had appeared in 14 straight polls. The other team to drop out of the poll was No. 17 Kansas State, which followed up its season-opening loss to Iowa State with a last-minute home win over FCS team North Dakota. Poll points — Ohio State is the first team to take over the top spot in the first regular-season poll since Alabama in 2012. It was the biggest jump to No. 1 in the first regular-season poll since Southern California was promoted from No. 3 in 2008. — Texas' fall was the biggest for a preseason No. 1 since Auburn dropped to No. 8 in the first regular-season poll of 1984. — LSU has its highest ranking after Week 1 since it was No. 3 in 2012, and Miami has its highest ranking after Week 1 since it was No. 5 in 2004. — South Carolina is in the top 10 in the regular season for the first time since it was No. 8 in December 2013. "Far from diminishing its value, these marks serve as compelling evidence of the lightsaber's direct involvement in the action – testament to its film-used authenticity," thelightsaber's descriptionon the Propstore website reads. While Propstore knows the lightsaber was used in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," it could have made some other appearances, too. "It's also possible that the piece or some elements of it were used in the very first Star Wars film, though we cannot be certain," Propstore Chief Operating Officer Brandon Alinger told USA TODAY. "While they had a few lightsaber props, what makes this one special is that it was used for the action sequences – the duels are some of the most memorable scenes in both of those films." Bidding for the lightsaber begins at $500,000, and Propstore estimates the final bid to be$1-3 million. As of Tuesday, Sept. 2, six absentee bids (bids placed ahead of the auction) had been placed, amounting to $1.2 million. When it comes to sourcing props for its Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, Alinger told USA TODAY that items may come from production companies, film studios or individuals associated with productions. "The consignor who owns this piece has had it for many years and decided the time was right to sell," Alinger said of the lightsaber. Alinger said Propstore was confident the lightsaber was legitimate, but to ensure its authenticity, an "extensive research" was conducted, even going so far as to "take X-ray images to examine the internal structure."
