TheEmmysgiveth, and they taketh away. While plenty of stars were celebrating after the2025 Emmy nominationswere announced Tuesday, July 15, there were inevitably some deserving and celebrated actors and TV shows left out when Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song readthe list of nominees. They'll be stuck sitting at home in pajamas on TV's biggest night. While Martin Short gets to check off his yearly nod for Hulu's"Only Murders in the Building,"his costars Steve Martin andSelena Gomezdidn't have the same luck. And"Paradise,"Hulu's post-apocalyptic thriller starring Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden, surprised with major drama category nods, likely pushing out previous nominees including "Yellowjackets,""Squid Game"and "The Handmaid's Tale." This year's Emmy Awards celebrate shows that aired or streamed between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025 (meaning those "The Bear" nominations are forlast year's third season, not thejust-dropped Season 4). It's been a big year for TV, with heavy hitters like"Handmaid's" saying goodbyeand buzzy new shows likeHBO Max's"The Pitt" saying hello. The ceremony will air live Sunday, Sept. 14, 8 ET/5 PT on CBS (and stream on Paramount+),hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. 2025 Emmy nominees:See the full list Here are the most jaw-dropping and shocking stars and TV shows to miss out on nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. The trio is missing two-thirds of its comedic power. Hulu's "Only Murders" has been an Emmy mainstay since its 2021 premiere, with each of its three leads − Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez − grabbing at least one acting nomination over the four seasons that have streamed so far. But only Short has been nominated for all four of those seasons, and he's the only actor who made the cut this year. Almost universally acclaimed by critics, Disney+'s mature "Star Wars" series "Andor" got a well-deserved nomination for best drama series. But the show's star Diego Luna couldn't break into a crowded best drama actor category that included talented actors likePedro Pascal, Noah Wyle, Gary Oldman, Adam Scott and Sterling K. Brown. Luna's supremely talented "Andor" costars Stellan Skarsgård and Genevieve O'Reilly didn't make it into the supporting categories, either. Apparently there's only room for one British spy show in the hearts and minds of the Emmy voters. While Apple TV+'s delightful "Slow Horses" managed to get recognized in several categories for another consecutive year, Netflix breakout "Black Doves" wasn't quite as fortunate. Star Keira Knightley was on many prediction lists for the lead actress category, but she ended up as a spy left out in the cold. The Netflix juggernaut was an Emmy darling in its first season, garnering a best drama series nomination and a trophy for star Lee Jung-jae in 2022. But the second season of the series, which streamed in December 2024, couldn't score a nod in a single category any more than the "Squid" characters could make it out of "Red Light, Green Light." Natasha Lyonne might need to work on her personal poker face. Although she received a nomination for her role as the lie-detecting accidental detective Charlie Cale in Peacock's "Poker Face" in its first season, she didn't make the list for her Season 2 performance. But the series did manage two nods overall, including one for "Wicked" star Cynthia Erivo, who used her acting magic to play quintuplets in the Season 2 premiere of "Poker." Once a big presence at the Emmys, the series' third season didn't garner a single nod, not for previously nominated star Melanie Lynskey or the show itself. The first two seasons each were nominated for the night's top prize: outstanding drama series. HBO's "Somebody Somewhere" is a quiet but superlative comedy about small-time life in Kansas that finished out a fantastic three-season run last fall. The Television Academy has finally caught up to its brilliance this year, nominating Jeff Hiller for supporting actor in a comedy and the show for a comedy writing award. But that leaves the series' star, Bridget Everett, behind. The creative success and emotional effect of "Somebody" is entirely contingent on the actress' nuanced performance. Thebest show of 2024didn't get the Emmy love it deserved. While "Disclaimer," Apple TV+'s twisty limited series from "Gravity" and "Roma" director Alfonso Cuarón, managed two nominations overall − for star Cate Blanchett and cinematography − the show should have been showered in nominations. The immersive series was a contender for best limited series and was competitive in additional acting races, primarily in supporting actor with Sacha Baron Cohen. Not since 2012 has NBC's chair-swiveling singing competition been left off the list of the best reality competition of the year, but it's been edged out in 2025 in favor of series like Peacock's "The Traitors." They'll meet people on the street that will come up to them and say, 'I watched you grow up. It is such a pleasure to see you as an adult,' " Ripa said. She explained, "When my kids were little, they had the opportunity to come on and do, like, little segments ... and people got a glimpse into their lives. The talk show host went on to say that her kids didn't just have their parents and siblings as their village. Instead, they have people all across America and in Canada "raising them in some way." Trey Smith agrees to 4-year, $92 million extension with Chiefs to become highest-paid guard in NFL: ReportsNew Foto - Trey Smith agrees to 4-year, $92 million extension with Chiefs to become highest-paid guard in NFL: Reports

Kansas City Chiefs right guard Trey Smith reportedly agreed to a four-year, $92 million extension with the team on Tuesday. After his first Pro Bowl nod in 2024, Smith has now become the highest-paid guard in NFL history, protecting MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On Tuesday,Adam Schefterreported that the new deal includes $70 million in guaranteed money. Schefter also added that Smith is receiving the highest annual salary and guaranteed money for the position. The former Super Bowl Champions secured Smith's services hours ahead of the 4 p.m. ET franchise tag deadline. Smith would have been limited to a one-year deal in 2025 if the Chiefs had missed the deadline. Mahomes himself expressed his excitement with an emoji on X (formerly Twitter) after reposting the NFL'soriginal reportthat Smith and the Chiefs came to terms on an extension: 😁 — Patrick Mahomes II (@PatrickMahomes)July 15, 2025 Kansas City placed thenon-exclusive franchise tagon Smith, worth $23.4 million, earlier this offseason. The non-exclusive franchise tag, unlike the exclusive franchise tag, permitted Smith to negotiate with other teams and sign an offer sheet. The Chiefs would then have an opportunity to match any offer sheet that Smith signed. If they failed to match a signed offer sheet, they would receive draft compensation in the form of two first-round picks from the signing team. No such deal came into play, however. Despite the delay in coming to a long-term deal, Smith did report for the team's mandatory minicamp in June —a move praisedby teammate and All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. Jones himself was at the center of a contract dispute with the organization back in 2023, which The Athleticestimatedcost him just under $4 million in fines. "It's good Trey didn't take my approach. Trey is doing the right thing ... Franchise tag is like $25 million, right? That's the big bucks," Jonesjokedwith reporters. Jones missed all of training camp, the NFL preseason andWeek 1 of the regular seasonbefore coming to terms on anew one-year dealreportedly worth up to $25 million. The Chiefs drafted Smith in the sixth round in 2021 and signed him to a four-year deal worth $3.61 million, including a $130,708 signing bonus. As a rookie, Smith played 100% of the Chiefs' offensive snaps. He's since started inall but oneregular-season game for Kansas City, with two Super Bowl rings and a 2024 Pro Bowl selection. Pro Football FocuscreditsSmith with just a single sack allowed during that Pro Bowl campaign. Before the NFL, Smith was a two-time first-team and one-time second-team All-SEC player at Tennessee.

Rays playoff games would be at minor league park, MLB commissioner saysNew Foto - Rays playoff games would be at minor league park, MLB commissioner says

TheTampa Bay Rayswill host any 2025 MLB playoff games at their temporary home of George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, commissioner Rob Manfred acknowledged Tuesday, July 15. Speaking to reporters in Atlanta on the afternoon of the All-Star Game, Manfred acknowledged concerns that have been raised aboutthe stadium's capacity of just over 11,000being far smaller than any other potential playoff site. But he cut off speculation that the Rays could move to a larger park in another location for the postseason. "Our rule has always been that people play in their home stadiums during the World Series. And I'm not of a mind to change that rule,"Manfred told the Tampa Bay Times. "I understand it's a unique situation. It's different, but that's where they're playing. That's where they're going to play their games." RAYS SALE:Owner Stuart Sternberg agrees to $1.7 billion deal, per report According toa report last month in The Athletic, there would be few issues with the Rays hosting a wild card or divisional playoff game at Steinbrenner Field. However, if the team reached the AL championship series or the World Series, the scarcity of seats would create a number of problems for MLB. The league office holds thousands of tickets for the LCS and World Series in reserve for a variety of participants and stakeholders. The reduced gate receipts would cut significantly into the players' share of the postseason revenue. And the networks broadcasting the games wouldn't have the usual amount of space and access needed to provide expanded coverage. With a record of 50-47 at the All-Star break, the Rays are in fourth place in the AL East division, 5 ½ games behind theToronto Blue Jays. They are fourth in the AL wild-card race, 1 ½ games behind theSeattle Marinersfor the AL's third and final wild-card berth. Manfred said construction is on track to have Tropicana Field ready for the Rays' 2026 season opener. He added that contingencies are in place, however, if the stadium is not ready by opening day. Nick Cannonis getting candid about therapy. The "Wild n' Out" host, whose fame forfathering a small brood of childrenhas at times overtaken that of his music and television career, revealed ina recent interviewthat consistent therapy has changed his outlook – and brought new revelations. In an interview withNew York Magazine published Tuesday, July 15,Cannon revealed he had multiple therapists and attended sessions with several ofhis 12 children. "One of my therapists says I'm a machete juggler," he quipped, referencing a full – if not tumultuous – personal life that the public has increased access to. Narcissist, gaslighting, love bombing:A guide to all the buzzwords around narcissism "I'm the boy wonder: Buy your tickets! Watch me do the impossible!" he said.Cannonlaunched his "Counsel Culture" podcast last year that explores his own interpersonal insights and will debut another this summer, "Nick Cannon @ Night," that doles out dating and sex advice. It may seem counterintuitive for a celebrity withan increasingly complicated family life(his most recent Father's Day was spent shuttling between engagements to see all 12 children) to be dealing in psychological advice, butCannontold the outlet that that was the point. He wanted to be an example, even if it's for some of the more unsavory parts of relationship building. Narcissists can't stand these traits. Here's how to become immune to narcissists. "I had been talking to my personal therapist, and some of the therapists on 'Counsel Culture,' and I was like, 'They throw this word narcissist around so much … 'I'm not a narcissist,'" he told the outlet. "And when I took the test, they were like, 'Yeah, no – you're definitely a narcissist.'" Narcissism, ahot topicparticularly in dating,as therapy-speak breaks into the mainstream, refers to a person with an "unreasonably high sense of their own importance,"according to the Mayo Clinic. Another hot topic?Using ChatGPT for therapy.Cannonadmitted he's not immune. "They're saying people are using it as a therapist, and a friend, and a place to get advice," he told New York Magazine. "I ain't going to lie. If I'm having a conversation or something, I'll ask it like, 'Yo, how should I approach this so it doesn't feel too toxic?' Or 'I don't want to gaslight, but this is what I'm feeling. What's the best way to write this text?'" This mom needed to have a tough talkwith her husband. ChatGPT did it for her. And, as for his conversations with real-life therapists, he pushes them to put him in his place. "I'll say, 'Please. This is challenging. This is my life. I've got to take accountability for the world that I created,'"Cannonsaid. This article originally appeared on USA TODAY:Nick Cannon, narcissist? What therapy taught 'Wild n' Out' host
