Daniel Day-Lewisis pressing pause on his retirement. The award-winning actor is back, this time with son Ronan Day-Lewis, for a gripping familial drama. Day-Lewis, 68, is set to make his return to the big screen for thefirst time in eight years, following 2017's romantic drama "Phantom Thread," in "Anemone." The movie is directed and co-written by the legendary actor's son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The film is set for a world premiere at the 2025New York Film Festivalthis fall, followed by a theatrical release in October. The film is also set to star Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green. Thethree-time best actor Oscar winnerabruptly retired in 2017, shortly before he received yet another best actor nomination for "Phantom Thread." "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor," his representative Leslee Dart said at the time. "He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject." Day-Lewis has yet to comment on his decision to return to acting. The film is set to hit select theaters Friday, Oct. 3. "Anemone" will have a wider theatrical release on Friday, Oct. 10, according toDeadline.
