Allen is opening up about a past relationship with an alleged "cult leader" who she says "burned" her life "to the ground." The 33-year-old actress made the shocking revelation via TikTok, utilizing a recent viral trend that users have set to Chappell Roan's hit, "The Subway," to share a harrowing experience they recently experienced. Allen posted a video of her smiling as she spins in a circle, and wrote, "how it feels rebuilding your life after being in love with a charismatic wealthy cult leader who burned it to the ground." Although Allen didn't reveal the ex she's calling a cult leader, she did share more details about her alleged toxic relationship. Cindy Ord/Getty "Let me be very clear: nobody can burn down your life unless you give them access to it," she began. "That's the part I've had to own." She continued, "So I've sat with the hardest questions: why did I trust him? Why did I hand over my power? Why did I silence my own inner knowing? The truth is, he was selling fairytales and from luxurious penthouses and private jets, I foolishly bought in." "What I learned is that even if you spend every waking moment with someone — studying, eating, traveling, working, building, dreaming — you still may not KNOW them," she wrote. "Especially when you're dealing with someone who lies as easily as they breathe." She added, "That realization shattered me, but it also forced me to rebuild from the ground up. And fire is also cleansing." Allen concluded her post by promising followers she'll share the whole story "one day," and end the post on a hopeful note. "For now I'm walking forward with feet on solid ground and a heart that knows its strength." In a surprising coincidence, Allen isn't the only star to reveal unexpected cult ties recently. Colman Domingorevealed during a recent episode ofMythical Kitchen'sLast Mealsthat he was almost recruited to an unnamed cult before he realized what was happening and fled. The anecdote came up as part of a conversation withLast Mealshost Josh Scherer about the importance of being an active member in one's community. "You haven't joined a cult yet now that you moved to Malibu?" Scherer teased, to which theSing Singstar, 55, replied, "I almost joined a cult in Mexico City, but that's another story." The Emmy winner noted that the incident occurred a few months ago and that the cult was very friendly. "It was just a group of nice people, and then I was like, 'Wait a minute, this is weird,'" he recalled. "I was like, 'What's up with you guys?'" Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Want more movie news? And, in Domingo's defense, he did reveal it was his "first encounter" ever with a cult. He added, "But as I did research and found out more about them, I'm like, 'Oh, that's a cult.'" Scherer also revealed his own experience with another undisclosed cult that similarly tried to get him to join their cause. "I said no, and they were just like, 'No, I think you really should,'" the host said. "And then I was like, 'Don't mess with cults, man. Don't be the person that talks to too many people.' And so, I skateboarded away." Read the original article onEntertainment Weekly
