
Missouri quarterback Sam Hornwasinjured on his first play of the regular season. Horn came in during the second series of the game between Missouri and Central Arkansas. With theTigersup 6-0, Horn ran up the middle for 6 yards before he took a hit to his lower body. He stayed on the ground even though his teammates attempted to help him get up. Missouri medical staff came onto the field and helped Horn leave the field, not putting much weight on his right leg before he was taken to the locker room. Coach Eli Drinkwitz didn't name an official starter, and stated the plan for the season opener would be for Pribula to play the first half and Horn take the second half against the Bears. Drinkwitz said postgame he didn't know much about the injury, but the team will get an MRI on Horn on Friday, Aug. 29 to determine the severity. "Very disappointed and sad with the injury to Sam Horn," Drinkwitz said. Horn didn't return to the sideline before the team ran into the locker room for halftime, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune, part of the USA TODAY Network. Also a baseball player, he sat out the 2024 college football and baseball seasons after having Tommy John surgery. A redshirt junior, Horn has played in four games since arriving in 2022. He's 3-for-8 passing for 54 yards with one touchdown and has four rushes for 9 yards in his college football career. Despite just 15 innings of baseball experience over three collegiate seasons, he was selected in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He signed for a $497,500 bonus with the Dodgers,according to MLB.com's Jim Callis, in July.
