The Kelly Clarkson Showwill return for season 7 in the fall, PEOPLE can confirm. Season 6 concluded in June. The show's return will come weeks after Clarkson's ex-husband, talent manager Brandon Blackstock,died on Aug. 7 after a private journey with cancer. He was 48. "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a rep for the family told PEOPLE in a statement. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." After season 6 ended in June, shekicked off her residency on July 11. A week earlier,she had to postpone her first two showsat the last minute after she said "prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice" in aposton Instagram. On Aug. 6, she revealed on Instagram that she had to "postpone the remainder of the August" shows to be "fully present" for their kids,River, 11, and Remington, 9. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill," she revealed in thepost. "I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding." Clarkson, 43, missed a slew of showsat the beginning of March for a then-unexplained reason, and had celebrities includingBrooke Shields,Wanda SykesandJosh Grobanstep in as guest hosts. Multiple sources have told PEOPLE thather absences in March were due largely in part to Blackstock's illness. The talent manager wasdiagnosed with cancerafter he and Clarksondivorced in 2020, another source told PEOPLE. "Her talk show gives her stability and time with her kids," the source said.
